My soft foods includies two saltines in my diet plan which is surprising given how restrictive my nut seems in comparison to others.

Alcohol with sleeve can lead to addiction issues but more importantly because hits liver faster, there are high rates of cirrhosis in bariatric patients. Google it to see studies. I agree with everyone that a little is human and something to try when you and/or doc think ok. Really I am obviously not experienced in trial yet but did read some of studies and stats it wasn't pretty.

Having trouble with Vitamins
chycky replied to Stillmissing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto on gummies from my nut. The bariatric ad chewable tabs are made by the devil. They are uber gross. The chewable Bari adv that are like a candy are good. I worry they may be hard to swallow post surgery. I will miss gummies. Will look at flintstones. I got a dissolving biotin from Costco that tasted fine, liquid vitamin d from whole foods (blue bonnet brand can buy on Amazon). I also got a blue bonnet liquid calcium from whole foods but have not tried yet. -

Can I proactively prevent hair loss PRIOR to surgery?
chycky replied to duckydoom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We talked about patches for b12 and nut said docs are concerned that overweight patients don't absorb. Apparently there are studies based on other med patches. Biotin comes in chew on Amazon and is in capsules that could be put in smoothie. -
Please share brands of brace that you bought or have liked. From images it is hard to imagine one that fits and doesn't hit incisions

i saw the belly braces on amazon and wondered if anyone used or recommended...

You look AMAZING! What an inspiration. Thank you for sharing! -
Ugh. Not enjoying. Had a nutritionist session yesterday and she said the 2nd week was most critical and she knows people will cheat a little but not to cheat on second week. It is a struggle and I will admit here to cheating day 3 w/ half of a whole wheat bagel But, she said as many popsicles as desired (sugar free) so that was a nice add on from the diet sheet they originally gave me. Lost 5lbs

Can I proactively prevent hair loss PRIOR to surgery?

My nut said that gummies are a no-no after surgery I saw someone referenced that for Biotin or another Vitamin. I am doing Biotin and collagen chews. I have been on biotin for quite some time from dermatologist recommendation for psoriasis -

Thank you! I just got one for free from our benefits fair and I felt funny picking up....I must have had a premonition! Anyone else have sage advice on what to bring? -
I am day 3 as well and it is not great. Crushed ice in smoothies has been good. Broth is what keeps me sane!

Can I sneak in as a June 21st to the discussion? -
I also purchased the Bari melts, so I am going to try those tonight and will report back. I am upset that I have a huge jar of the Calcium awful ones to eat. I am going to also try the gummy/chew-able from that brand. Finally, I have appts tomorrow and am bringing in some of my "normal" chew-able and liquid Vitamins to see if they are acceptable. Shakes: They were nice enough to give me samples of many flavors. I didn't mind the strawberry, but the Cookies and cream I did not care for it or its smell; the iced latte was not great flavor; banana flavor was goood; orange creme was not horrible but not great. So far, the vanilla and chocolate are my favorites. Thinking of trying the unflavored one with a bit of matcha powder.

I am using the Bariatric Advantage shakes. They are fine. I was surprised actually I was planning on them being really awful. I would say that the tablet chew-able Vitamins from this brand are awful, horrible -- chalky and terrible flavor.

So, I am on Day 2 of liquid diet and I agree there are lots of diets that are tailored to the individual, the surgery, and the physician preferences. I am using 4 shakes and 2 bars along w/one banana and lots of liquids. I have option of up to 3 jello/pops, sugar free. It is not great, but I think because i was weaning myself from caffeine slowly, at least bringing it down a lot over the last few months, I have not (yet at least) had headaches, and I have not had low energy. In fact, I feel full and like i am constantly drinking fluids and going to restroom. I would say the hardest part was being home where there is more food around unlike at work, and TV (food is everywhere!). It has helped to jump over to the post-op discussions, or the before/after photos and articles. The pre-op diet is important, and I went through many months of classes and health care appointments to get cleared, I can't mess up these last two weeks! Plus, on bright side, this is better than the immediate post-surgery 1st week, right!?
