@@Kyn13 sounds like you have it handled well on your end. Nurses take the brunt of a lot and it also impact their quality and dedication when treated poorly. We all suffer. I hope for the best for your recovery and return. It is very good advice to everyone to be careful with Fmla as does not always apply to you/your employer, not to mention your state employment issues! If anyone planning far out and have opportunity it is a good time to consider short term disability coverage if you can!

Need to know what week post op did you start ab workouts please
chycky replied to VSG@50's topic in Fitness & Exercise
6 weeks with advice to be sensitive to overworking core So far no real problems. -
I used bio oil as soon as the glue wore off. Since then for those that are not longer pink and mostly healed I use skin medica brand it may be a bit early but even the belly button one looks good now.

Good luck. I swear you would think health care centers of all places would deal better with issues like this!

If you have sick leave or any leave which assuming you do since were planning surgery then I would get date and go to HR. If you were planning on her charity in working around you for schedule because you have no leave and/or Fmla then I would push date back and caress her ego by saying you moved date for her and team. Then after she gives you written approval or confirmation of schedule and when you will be back on schedule I would talk to HR about her threat, your willingness to accommodate team needs, and desire that you will not face retaliation for health related time off.

I have 3 saltines on my plan for some "meals" hummus or chicken salad. Sometimes I just have parmasean crisp instead less carbs when I have saltines I get the whole grain premium brand (the main nabisco saltine brand but with whole grain) or Annie's brand. Crackers are a big area of conflicting opinion as much as my team is conservative on many things I have them as an option on my soft meal phase I am confident that cheese it's would not be allowed they have little nutritional value and a lot more calories, sodium and fat.

Did anyone NOT have a miserable recovery?
chycky replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would add that I came out in recovery in horrible pain and they inserted some pain med that I had on top of other pain meds for first day and wore it home (it was pump) for remaining 4 days. Maybe it is why I only took one dose of rx pain med. I felt way better once in room compared to when I first woke up. I think it makes sense to "hear" about complications because it is not expected, they can be very different, specific to individual, and people experiencing something less than ideal are going to look for answers, support, and to compare notes if nothing else. It is a good reason to discuss and it can potentially help or help you ask questions of your doc. I always try to think about worst hope for best and be comforted by something in between. With ones health you do want better odds, and you can search site the odds are pretty stacked in your favor for less complications. Maybe a good topic for research on your doc or practice? -
Wow! Awesome. Congrats!

Did anyone NOT have a miserable recovery?
chycky replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me, I had a pretty uneventful recovery. Most dramatic thing was had to stop the blood thinner injections early due to some bleeding in stool. Nothing too painful, obviously some discomfort. Worst was finding a way to sleep comfortably in the first few days home. Was at hospital for only one night (from 6 am day 1 to 6pm day 2). I needed the life change and I worry about management and completely absorbing the change and taking responsibility for my success, but I am happy so far! -
My "workout" this weekend is what I like to call chain gang duty. I have felt exhaustion to point of passing out and have had NO problem hitting my Water goal, blowing thru it actually. But so much drinking meant meals were liquid too but I was too tired to tell. Here in northern Virginia it is hot and swampy like a moist version of hell. This weekend is hell-lite because not too terrible. But hot sun, heavy lifting, digging, digging in rain, excavating boulders....it's a lot. We were going to pave small patio after unearthing one boulder, we found more, and I think and ancient burial ground, old parking lot, and possible mastodon. So we scrapped that and decided to put down pebbles in rest of unpaved area. Now it is small, but 15 lb bags, lining, spreading, moving crap. All I can say is last night I felt muscles I forgot existed and I expect they we will wake up other friends tonight and scream at me. Boss is calling break is over! I better lose some inches or pounds and not just my will to landscape!

An intimate working relationship makes this hard and small employer makes this even harder. I would go with hernia especially as you could need gal bladder out one day. Say you have had acid issues, had test doc recommends this quick, easy surgery. I can imagine that being vague will not be received well and it could be worth eliminating aggravation and angst to just give her a different story. I agree with inner surfer girl you should not have to but sometimes it is easier. If you decide to fess up you can always tell her you did both wls and hernia.

Thank you all! Definitely harder than the elliptical and weights! James all I can say is you must be part robot, that is impressive!

Late June Sleeve Buddies?
chycky replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a great idea for fridge. Having done events I would suggest that you tell them you have medical need for small fridge for medication. Best bet for those that do not provide them at all. They tend to keep a few for accommodations and this is a medical need. I take some of the small 2 oz cups to use to measure on the fly. As for shipping that is another good idea. I used my Amazon prime to its fullest when I had a long trip recently. I can have peanut butter if you can, there are some brands that come 1 oz packs. Or pb powder is good. Also if conference as good excuse to explore fruits that you may not have tried and soups! -
@@UCLA man it is surgery so it is going to have discomfort or some pain. I think mine was very low level on grand scheme and I took time to rest. Some people are back to work in less than a week and some need more time. Your health status now will impact this and you should talk to your surgeon.

Late June Sleeve Buddies?
chycky replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you made it thru Panda. Popsicles are very comforting! I like the pre-made sliced chicken. it is hard to stay at the ready all the time. I fall back on the egg or hummus when meat is scarce. Both are a bit higher calorie than some meals. It is weird feeling like calories high if they go over 800 for day! -
I am doing this as well I have decided unless my blood comes back next month with concerns. I am hair loss adverse! I am doing keratin treatments and Phyto serum weekly. Vitamins , satin cap, etc

Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Yeah I don't think chicken should be canned or beef not buying that tactic at mushy phase. I shred or chop my chicken. -

Is your Protein goal total? Or maybe as I am at early stage or have weird team. They distinguish between my protein supplement goal and just say 60 grams from shake and then the rest is not a big deal. I am 5'7. So 67. Which I have completely met but I worry that I have overdone it by doing 80 in shakes/broth and 100 total. So confused. -
I hate being here when the anorexic woman is here just saying. It is a downer she is like in her 50s looks pushing 70 and is here for like hours and runs here. She weighs 95 lbs wet. I know it is the opposite of my eating issues but I don't know. It just seems more wrong. Like being 500lbs at all you can eat buffet!
-
I had to play around with a lot of different Protein options. Post op, I could not do the shakes I had been using for a week or two. broth with unflavored Isopure protein was life saver. I would say first week isopure protein waters were what kept me going. I didn't particularly like them but they were large amount of Fluid and 50g protein! Try something new get samples or one bottle of different flavors/brands. It will help you feel better!

chycky replied to Seastars's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon says the opposite; most people don't eat enough protein. My protein target is 100 grams (all men and women who start out with a BMI of over 50). Women who start out under a BMI 50 have a target of 80 grams. Did/does your protein target change to 80 at below 50? Just curious.
