ok I cant believe I am jumping to this thread to tell my story in hopes that you can relate or find hope or commonality in my story.
I had my first Surgery as My Marriage was coming to an end it was an attempt to save it but was a joke, nothing was going to save it.
I got banded and got miserable throwing up all the time lost 30 pounds and divorced healed a little emotionally. Started dating, Still heavy not as heavy thought like you it was easier to date fatter.
Anyway, flash forward 5 f**king years of no luck no love dating. uckkkkk to the nth degree. but I knew I wanted love.
And kept trying. I eventually said ok if not love than an education. So I went back to school and got a degree lol still no luck no love dating. But I wasn't as focused on it. But still dying inside wanting to be in love or at least like, and a partner to go through things with.
Well despite my pathetic attempt with the lap band I gained it all back. Finally after a trip to emergency room I decided to have it out and got sleeved. Finally real weight loss. Still dating no luck no love dating.
I kept trying because like I said I wanted love. I did everything people said "learned to really love myself" I wasn't even close had to really figure that **** out. Weight or no Weight. Got it mostly figured out. Kinda,
Being obese is a mechanism to not really deal food was my drug,
OK so Finally still dating now thinner a little more success.
And then it happened met him On Zoosk. But the best part was we went to a restaurant on our first date and as we are looking at the menu, he starts to say, oh I really dont eat much not sure if you would understand but I had this thing done to my stomach. LOL I just looked at him in disbelief. Not to mention I was digging him anyway.
Well there it was we split our first of many Entrees "steak tips" laughed about Protein Shakes and all that went with the first year. He was a year and a little out I was nearly two years out.
Ok so Moral of the story don't give up but don't focus on it. And while you are waiting get **** done. Getting my degree was amazing. I used to pray for God to send me a Man a good man, Or at times any man. When I stopped focusing on that and my pray changed to Get me to graduation and let me be thinner or at peace with my weight.
So year after 7 long years I did it. I am in love with a man who has a gastric sleeve and teenage boys who play sports and video games like mine.
Sorry to tell you the sappy story.
    Best of Luck
    Dawn Marie

This is more of a venting than anything else. I find being single now after I have lost alot of weight harder than before the surgery. I knew why I was single when I was heavy. I have not been on a date since loosing weight. I have tried single sites, going out dancing even trying to recruit friends at work. People tell me how well i'm doing and that I look good now but still no success. I have not always been heavy and dated plenty before I gained the weight so I know how to talk to the oppisite sex. has any one else been through this. before you say it I know.....just give it time but it still sucks.

@Krimsonbutterflies This rings so true for me!! This is not the easy way out at all. I knew it was going to be a life changing event, but it is really hard getting sick a lot from trying new foods. I’ve tried tuna. I loved tuna before but nope I get so sick.
I wanted to love the ricotta bake...so sick. I can do just a tad of cottage cheese.

Do y’all get the rapid heart rate after eating or drinking Protein Shakes? ? I do in the afternoon and the evening for sure but not so much in the mornings. I hate it. I hate the rapid heart rate. That alone makes me feel like crap.

There is a learning curve for sure after this surgery and it is not the easy way out.

I had tuna tonight for the first time and I felt terrible, nauseous and miserable. I also tried plain grilled fish mashed up another day, really terrible as well. I'm not going to try it again for another few weeks to a month.
I'm a seafood lover and I barely eat any other meat, this is a major adjustment for me. I'm not losing weight due to the infamous stall, I tried a few slider foods due to my tastebuds and lack of tolerance for other foods that I should be consuming. Mentally getting myself back to the program and focusing on the bigger picture. Going to have Protein in the morning to start my day, hopefully my stomach will play fair. I can eat chili and I have plenty of protein in there. I just want to feel normal again and I miss vegetables, produce, seafood, oatmeal and etc.
This gets better, as we are learning the ropes. I will attest that wls is not the easy way out. This requires a lot of work, dedication and sacrifices to help yourself succeed.

I first started here back in 2016 and let me tell you, although there were a ton of supportive people (especially veterans who were 3-5 years out and had years of experience to draw from, which I find really lacking now), there were also a lot of flame wars and ganging up on people. Whole threads would get shut down, people got banned, and a lot of people left en masse to try out other forums (but I still like this one the best). So the current group of active people here are great, no real shaming for going off-plan, or hurt snowflakes who couldn't take constructive criticism/help for what it was. At least, I haven't seen that since I've been back. It's almost like this is a new place. The little bit of tension that does exist is a pale shadow of what was here before!
As for soda (or any carbonated drink), I think in the end it's up to each person to decide if it's worth it for them. I used to be addicted to Diet Coke/Coke Zero, drank at least a litre a day, until one day it just made my gastro-intestinal issues so bad I decided to stop cold turkey (this was years before my sleeve surgery). I never went back. I would occasionally have a Sprite or ginger ale but I wasn't addicted to those so it never got me back to drinking Coke. After my sleeve surgery, about 6 months out, I was with some colleagues at a restaurant and my only choice of drinks (besides Water and alcohol) was soda, so I tried a very small ginger ale. I was in so much pain after a couple of sips, not only could I not finish the drink, I couldn't finish the meal. The few other times I've tried anything carbonated over the years has been the same - my stomach just can't handle it. The other thing I would worry about when re-introducing it (or any other "problematic" food/drink) is that it can be an enabler to other foods we shouldn't be eating. While I drank Diet Coke on it's own, I also liked it with pizza, or Doritos, or chips, or pretzels, or... you get the idea. I've learned from my failure with my sleeve that that's what I have to be the most concerned about - not that having something once in a while will throw me off track, but that it will encourage me to try other off-limit foods once in a while, until it becomes a regular habit once again.

If you have had a bypass, as Darktowerdream has, NSAIDS are off the table for life. My surgeon really hammered this home before I got a bypass. It certainly wasn't a deal breaker as I already couldn't take them since they had a tendency to eat holes in my stomach....Apparently people with sleeves can still take them, but RNY people can't.

biginjapan reacted to CammyC in Why is it so hard to update my weight?
I no longer use the app for this site. I simply open internet browser for my iPhone, so safari. There are two ways to update your weight in this site on safari.
    1) scroll down all the way to almost the bottom and it will show how many pounds we’ve lost together. You can update it there.
    2) Go to the top right and choose under the menu where it shows notifications... choose my surgery. That will take you to your surgery info and you will see a drop down. Choose my progress. You can update your weight there.

The app for BP on iOS is not user friendly. It’s very hard to use. Use safari. It’s much easier for us iPhone users.

Ohhhh I see. Yeah, give yourself a little more time. If you’re concerned definitely reach out to your surgeon and NUT. I cannot eat anything other than eggs with cheese right now. Every other soft food is making me sick.
I’m able to take my Vitamins so it’s fine with me. I’ll eat as less as possible as long as I can. 😃

For me, soda is a slippery slope. It's not about whether I CAN drink it, but whether I should.
I gave up soda after I was banded years ago. After I had the band out, I started indulging again. Not a lot, but enough. I cannot tolerate a lot of artificial sweeteners and soda has a lot of empty calories. So, I gave it up again when I started the sleeve process. Aside from a small sip of low carbonation rootbeer about a year or so ago, I just don't. I don't miss it and don't plan on going back to it.

LOL, so I think it's likely you are an inflammatory person set on trolling here by causing drama. You have less than 10 posts and the first time I see you, you are posting a post set for drama. LOL. I could care less that you had an opportunity to live a new life with a spanking new second chance and yet, you're cherry picking the rules our surgeons give us that are based on best practices from the ASMBS for our tools. And you're essentially giving your second chance the great big old middle finger salute.
Way to work it, dude! Waves up. Enjoy!

I'm not sure you'd necessarily gain on 1200, but I didn't consistently go over 1000 calories per day until I was around a year out. That 800 or so that you mentioned that you were on before was about where I was for the first several months. I don't know if that's what's going on, but a lot of us aren't getting that many calories that early out. Are you pretty sure that's what you're getting - as in you're measuring/weighing things so you know for sure?

90g of carbs is still quite high. Have you tried cutting back on carbs? That might help kickstart your weight loss again. I'm only 3 weeks out but I'm trying to stay under 40 net carbs/day (although I'm not always successful at that). Also, have you talked to your surgeon/nutritionist? If you stopped losing weight then there may be something else that is impacting this.

I’m new to the bypass but not to Bariatric surgery as I had a sleeve in 2013. I would like to reiterate. You are not really hungry. Neither am I and I have to keep reminding myself of that 2 weeks out. It’s head hunger. You’re used to it and there is food everywhere on TV. Try to do something else. TV is the worst. Literally everything is about food. Go for a walk or get on the treadmill or the elliptical or just something. I’ve been coloring in my swirlie coloring book. It keeps me occupied. Just do something else. It’s a really hard habit to break because most of us have eaten for boredom or comfort our whole lives but that time is done now. You’ve got this! Just do something else to get your mind off of it.

This week I've been experiencing the same thing as you and I was sleeved on 3/3/20. Hydration is a difficult task for me and I loved plain Water prior to surgery, I don't know when this is going to be better. I'm trying really hard every day to meet my hydration goals and Protein Drinks are now upsetting my stomach. I'm back to tge clear Protein Isopure and ugh!!! I'm in a stall, I'm really hungry for real textures of food and I have to work on this darn insomnia. I have faith that this is just a moment that will get better

My story is definitely a "good news/bad news" one. The good news is that I have a job that will not go away EVER. The bad news is that I'm a health care worker. Part of me can't wait to be at work because I'm going crazy here at home, but when I get there I start worrying "Am I gonna catch this thing?"
But no complaints--I have a job! I feel bad for all the people out there that are uncertain when they will be able to return to work.

Did they recommend upping the calories because of the stall?
It's hard to tell if an amount of calories is too high or too low. There is way too much variety between persons, even if they have the same height, gender, weight and even activity level.
Sometimes playing around with macronutrients helps or switching up exercise routine. Some people benefit from IF, some from eating at maintenance level for a while before lowering calories again (you might want to take a look at the MATADOR study regarding this).
In the end there is only trial and error. If it works, it's all good. If it doesn't work, you need to change something.

What does your nutritionist/surgeon want you to have?
Your carbs are higher than most people's teams would suggest (so early on- I can eat around that much almost 3 yrs out to maintain my weight/indulge) so that may not work for you right now. But the bottom line is sometimes the professionals recommendations along with trial & error will work better than anecdotal info from a peer.
If you were tracking during the time you were consuming 800 vs 1200 cals check the trends in your weightloss. Then talk to your team.
Try lower or Keto level macros for carbs, after consulting with your team of course, and see if there is any difference after about 2 weeks.
    Good Luck ❤

A couple months after my surgery I had the same thing happen. It was falling out like crazy. Thankfully it slowed down to normal Hair loss and I’m starting to get some regrowth. I’m waiting to cut my hair until I have some length on the regrowth (right now I’m just trying to hide the regrowth because it looks like fly aways). Right now my hair stylist and I are treating them very carefully and making sure to give it as much love as possible. I’m making sure to take all my prescribed supplements and get as much Protein as I can.
