9 Months and the Game is Changing

Sooo Im at like 7 months right now... I'm at a weight that's very comfortable for me so if I can slow my weight loss to about 5 lbs a month I'd be satisfied!!! My goal was 140--- Now I feel like 160 might be it for me... I'm 167 currently. I'm not concerned about slow weight loss. SO... I keep my routine going. I don't count calories AT ALL!!!!!! I'm more focused on food groups. I still have something light for breakfast- a fruit and veggie smoothie, or a Protein shake, or fruit and yogurt or Breakfast meat but I eat something preferably something with protein but sometimes I just want a smoothie. Grazing is life!!!!!! I bring or purchase a grazebox at work so my Snacks are already ready to go. My grazebox usually contains 4 items it could be 8 cheese cubes, 10 cucumber slices , 15 grapes, and 1/4 cup of mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, peanuts) Its in a divided container so it fits perfectly. I have other combinations like cheese, apple slices, hummus and celery, or Nuts, pineapple, carrots and strawberries. Anyways I graze on this ALL DAY at work starting at about noon. My lunch is usually 1 item. Today it was 4 lemon pepper wing dings, Tomorrow it might be a mini garden salad with grilled chicken. It might be a leftover baked porkchop or lobstertail from last nights dinner. By 3 oclock I'm back snacking on my grazebox and I usually still have food left over by the end of the day. I take it home and add it to my grazebox for the next day. Sometimes I can easily skip lunch because the grazebox keeps me satisfied. Its all about what you are grazing on. I usually leave work about 430-5pm I have to pick kids up and stop by the store sometimes I snack on what remains of the grazebox or whatever was left from lunch but I don't typically eat after 6pm and I'm not hungry. Now 1-2 times per week I may eat out with the family, or join a friend for drinks but that is the only instance where I may really eat past 6 or 7pm. Sometimes I might just purchase food eat a few bites of salad and carryout the rest. Find what works for you... I personally see nothing wrong with grazing. Just watch the carbs and make sure your activity levels are where they should be. You know what that is... what works for you may not work for me and vice versa. I was going to the gym 4-5 days a week but I wasn't pushing myself so I started taking kickboxing classes, boot camp and classes that would push me to my physical limits.

I wanna know about carbs... Seriously!

Carbs for ME are a slippery slope. Nothing wrong with them however they do slow or stall weight loss and increase hunger drive. Since a stall is something that I wanted I added carbs into my eating plan. SInce then even though I am exercising-- boot camp, kick boxing, resistance training, most days of the week. my weight loss is minimal. Right now Im comfortable with 5 lbs a month. If ever I want to speed up my weight loss again I'll just drop back down to less than 20g carbs and increase my Protein intake which I was recently told I have a daily goal of 60g/day which I can hit with ease. Good luck to you.

    PCOS after having surgery

Yes. I did not have very many physical symptoms of PCOS like facial hair, or acanthosis nigrican it was mostly the irregular or absence of my menstrual cycle, infertility, mood swings, elevated hgb a1c therefore I would get hypoglycemic and of course the weight gain and PCOS belly. I am DELIVERT!!!! at 171.8 My belly is about a 28 inches I'd like it to go down to about a 24, 25. Hgb a1c is like 5.2, No mood swings although I do have periods of restlessness and anxiety that come and go. Cycles are coming like clockwork and they are fairly normal and weight loss remains steady. So yes I would say my PCOS symptoms have most certainly improved. I am 6 months post op.

For those of you who did not have "food funerals":

I know you're asking if those who did not have food funerals regret it. For about 4 of my 6 month pre op period i went into last supper mode and I do not regret having done so. I'm not encouraging others to do so just my experience. At 6 months post op i am officially 80+ lbs lost. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

    Bread

Honestly I'm 6 mos post op. I eat bread... but it's only to slow my weight loss so that my body has time to adjust. Since eating bread even though I workout 4-5 days a week... I have lost maybe 3 lbs this month. That works for me because ir was a choice... you may wonder why you're stalling, slow weight loss etc. Carbs drive hunger. I am hungrier since eating carbs but I just have a light Protein snack. someone who may not know better may find themselves on a binge. It is a slippery slope. I personally would not be so quick to incorporate carbs in my diet so early in your journey. I think it's too early in my own honestly but it was the only way to put a halt to my weight loss. I thought long and hard and honestly I am very picky about my carbs. I don't just eat bread. It may mean having fruit juice. It might mean having whole wheat crackers with my tuna, or a bowl of cheerios. I don't eat alot of carbs but it does cause sloooooow weight loss. And there is no significant nutritional value to you. I don't think you want to do that right now. Focus on protein, protein, protein, Water, water, water. Wait until maintenance for bread but in the least- talk to your surgical team about it. 10. It's been awhile. I've managed to stall my weight loss purposely and I'm happy no complaints about a stall in which I created. I've been allowing myself carbs and a xmas cookie here and there. On the up side I have been managing to get up most mornings to workout at 6am before I go to work. Mainly doing resistance training no cardio. We'll see how it goes. I'd like to be 175 by 12/31 which is like 3 lbs away so I've got this!! Hope everyone is doing well!!!

  17. I know this is an old topic.. but for some of us it's somewhat flattering to get hit on. It's a sign that we've still got it right? So I was one of those people who said... "I don't notice much difference". Anyways for me its starting. Like 2 weeks ago I had an attractive guy stop me and ask if I were married etc I happily said yes and kept walking. Guys are going out of their way to make eye contact with me to say hello. Or spark conversations or tell me I'm attractive. I do see the difference. It reminds me of the way it used to be but I guess its been so long-- and I was getting hit on in a different way so I guess to me it was the same except its not. Its bittersweet. Yet I feel good about the rediscovered attention. How do or did you handle the attention? How did it make you feel when you started to receive it? Also I've been itching to go out. The other day I went to a local comedy night by myself. As I was being seated in the club, a girl invited me to join her and her friends in their booth. We had a good time and took selfies and I just felt--- I guess included. Did any of you experience increased attention inclusion or acceptance from people in general?? Do you feel good about it? Or the opposite? p
  18. Just had to say I've been really enjoying fruit infused water daily. I typically do strawberries and cucumbers and today it's just rasberries. Anyways its' so refreshing and really puts a different spin on water. I've done it off and on in the past but these last 2 weeks I've been really committed.

Do you use an infusion bottle or do you make it by the pitcher or what? I'm weary of plain water but don't like Crystal Light or other artificially sweetened drinks. I'm interested!

  19. I'm sorry If this bothers some of you. if you don't want to read about someone mad about their rapidly melting curves then move on. Ok I know I should be eternally grateful to all the powers that be yaddy yaddy yah BUT. I knew I had at least a year to try and get to goal or lose as much as possible because things would slow down significantly after 12 mos post op. Obviously I want to see myself get to or under goal within that time frame and I knew that I would probably lose the curves I value so much by the time I got there buuuuuuut I thought I had more time. I desperately wanted to get to Onederland because-- who doesn't?!? I remember years ago when I started gaining weight I got the booty I always wanted when I hit about 165. Of course with each passing 10 lbs (at a rate of about 10-15 lbs a yr for the next 7-8 years) it only got bigger. So needless to say there comes a point where your weight starts to distribute to other areas like the thighs, lovehandles, stomach, arms etc and then it's not cute anymore. Well after surgery I had accepted that by the time I hit goal I'd probably lose all my lovely curves but in the mean time and in between time I thought I'd have some time before me and my curves parted ways. Specifically between the weights of 160-195lbs I thought I'd have a little fun fittling back into smaller clothes while ALSO enjoying my smaller waistline and still bigger hips and butt. WELLLLLL I am sadly mistaken. Currently I am about 191 lbs. Hit Onederland 2nd week of October planned to be in the high 180's low 190's by 10/31 and yes I made it. Next goal is 175 by the end of November, early December and then about 5lbs every month therafter until goal. But my curves have also begun to rapidly disappear at a rate that's concerning and also disappointing. When I was 190 in the past-- I could squeeze into a womens 14. Maybe a 12 if I was lucky. My butt was very very big. Hips even bigger. Specifically my hips/butt was about 52 inches. Now at 190, I can fit easily into a 10 and Medium shirts and IM NOT COMPLAINING but I'm just trying to understand why things are this different. I haven't measured but I'm sure my hips/butt is about 46 inches. I mean I'm a little flabby but not anything concerning at this point. Which means in another 30 lbs I might be in a 6? At 160? I was barely able to fit clothes in the Jr section at 160. I mean it was a struggle!!! Which was why I started yo yo dieting in the first place. I have stopped going to the gym because I don't know what to do. I don't want to do another minute of cardio due to the speed of weight loss. I mean don't get me wrong. I'm definitely on track. I don't think I'm losing any faster or slower than I should be. I am ready now that I'm just slightly past halfway to goal to do more weights and lifting, toning and resistance training for the rest of the way until I get where I want to be. If I didn't have the surgery I would've probably went for another 15 lbs and then stopped. I can't eat very much so I can't slow things down and I want desperately to lose weight but I guess it's happening quicker than I expected and my curves with it. I am so grateful for the victories along the way I went to the amusement park Saturday and was able to for the first time in several years get on EVERY single ride. My husband attributes this to the fact that my big ol butt is ALLLLLL Goooooooone. I think that hurt my feelings even though I know he didn't mean to I'm like really? That's how you feel? its ALLLLLLLL GOOOOOOONE??? already? I took pictures and actually like the way I look in them for the first time in at least 7 years! Soooo that means a lot! I'm healthy. High Blood pressure is GONE! Insulin resistance NO MORE!!!!!!!! So I know I'm being very petty right now but it does bother me. I think this open enrollment period I will start a health savings account through my employer and start putting money aside for my breast augmentation and brazillian butt lift or Lipo with Gluteal fat injections. Since my WLS was paid for 100% via insurance-- Surely I could save at least half of the amount for my cosmetic procedures and the other half I'll put on my credit card. Any tips in the meanwhile??? Shapewear that gives you a butt lift? Exercise regimen?

  21. Well they are coming in like crazy. I'm finding men in my DM telling me about their height, weight annual salary then this really attractive guy with Tommy guns for arms and banana fingers, then last week I had to cool off this guy at my job last week. He's been getting a little too comfortable and went too far with his advances. Everything else has just been normal. Double takes and random compliments from both men and women. This just started about 2 weeks ago which is why I asked. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

How did WLS effect your marriage...

Thanks I was going to post updates by the grace of God she is doing well. She is very stable! She is talking, laughing, eating, She just transferred to rehab on Friday afternoon. So she's getting lots of physical therapy to rebuild her strength after being on a ventilator and drug induced coma for almost 2 weeks. Thanks again for all those concerned!
