  1. I'm sure many of us began the labor day weekend 2 days ago but by it being the holiday most people are having their final farewells to summer cookouts and outings. Is anyone struggling with food choices? So far I'm not... could change tomorrow. I've been busy getting kids ready for back to school. So I've been preoccupied. The hubby and I grocery shopped today and will cook early tomorrow. Then I'm back out to the stores for labor day sales and back to school shopping. What are you doing to get through the holidays? Especially you fresh post ops... i remember the struggle. I was sleeved 3 days before July 4th. It wasnt easy.

    Sex after surgery

I don't think it's frowned upon, but I do think the answer would vary greatly from person to person. So many factors to consider, like relationship things and such. Of course self esteem has a lot to do with satisfaction. While I look forward to losing weight I worry about the excess skin that comes with that. Not that my husband will care, nothing turns him off like ever. But I think about it. Go on Youtube and you can watch lots of video blogs about weight loss (from surgery and otherwise) There are a couple (Clusie L is one of them) who discuss sex, relationships, etc after weight loss. Again, this is a complex issue. I am pre-surgery anyway, hopefully others will chime in???? Dub always has great answers Clusie... I love her! Oh and sex has gotten lots better. Not as much tummy in the way. Easier to switch positions and my legs don't hurt or get tired when I'm doing all the work. But YES I love clusie.
  5. Sounds like you've been doing well on your own so far. I belong to planet fitness. I paid for the membership a year without using it. But i didn't miss the 9.99/mo. Anyways my employer offers a benefit through healthways. $25/mo for access to multiple gyms including powerhouse, curves, anytime, snap LA, YMCA, and many others. Also they reimburse us up to $300 a year for any fitness expenses. Classes, Weight watchers, gym memberships etc. Your company may have something like that. But if they don't visit all the ones you're interested in and go with the one that "feels right" and meets your needs.

    Weightloss Roll Call!

OMG really??! We I'm about 250 now... Hoping to get down to 245 before my surgery in October! Good Luck to you! Most people lose weight during the pre op diet. And correction I am now 9 weeks. In the last 2 weeks I kicked up my workout to 4 days a week but I've been doing more like 5-6. That has certainly accelerated my loss. I did not really start working out until 6 weeks post op due to the fatigue. Everyone loses differently so try not to get caught up in the numbers. I did not really lose weight pre op so My highest weight is pretty close to my surgery weight. I wish I'd lost more pre op. I but I'm pleased with my progress so far and I feel my weight loss has been pretty steady. Best wishes to you!

    cant eat chicken breast

It's all in the technique. I poke 2 forkfuls into each chicken breast, then, I put them into gallon zip locks and pour Italian dressing or lemon pepper marinade. Let them refrigerate for 1-2 days. You can bake, grill or cook them on the stove. Very juicy and yummy! After i take a knife and chop it up. Bite size pieces. Put it on salad make chicken salad whatever. With what's left Ill make about 6 baggies for the week to eat for meals and Snacks. Take it slow. Eat a few bites then walk away. It takes me about 30min-1hr to eat 1 breast. Which is why i take them to work and eat them right out the bags.
  8. I love that suit! It's very cute and sexxxxy. I Need it in white!!!

  11. I don't believe it was an official stall. Happened to me as well but it was very short lived. Then I just dropped like 6lbs after a few days.
  12. Cast iron then. Cast iron now. Although the thought of certain foods I once liked make me queezy.

    What to eat before workout?

Your workouts are lasting far more than most 2-3 hours? Good Job! You need lots of Protein so the shakes are fine. Other items you should have on hand to eat during your rest periods).... Trail mix Orange slices banana String cheese Apples slices and Peanut Butter Low sodium turkey or chicken breast lunchmeat wrapped around your cheese stick of choice. Protein Bars cut into cubes. Mini fruit kabobs on (toothpicks) Or mini cheese and meat kabobs Pre pack 3-4 snack items of your liking to sustain you so when you stop for Water or other breaks you can take a couple bites of something that packs a punch. Afterward you can eat a light and refreshing lunch like a strawberry, avocado and grilled chicken salad.

    Michigan sleevers

Omg @rikimom so its not just me. She is a trip and a vacation let me tell you. Anyways I highly recommend Dr Krause. He has very high ratings as well. Best wishes to you!
  18. Yes listen to your body. Typically when I start to burp or hiccup, it's a signal for me that I'm either triggering a phrenic nerve due to filling, or I'm eating too fast ... so I just stop. For me there is no true feeling of fullness just either satiety or a sensation almost like an aura which is telling me to stop. Also I measure my food I know what I can handle and I don't try to do more than that. liquids are of course much easier so I do lots of smoothies and alternate with Protein shakes. Denser foods like meat I can only handle about 2 oz max. Anything more would have to be scheduled in as a snack.
  19. Yes it's really your call. It depends on your style and the way you like your clothes to fit. I have always worn my clothes a little on the snug side. Like one size too small almost-- so the little weight I have started losing, I'm actually now fitting my clothes the way they should've fit all along. (Too big for me-- but not to the rest of the world) Then I have stuff I haven't been able to wear in about a year so I've been pulling that stuff back out and incorporating it into my wardrobe. I work in a office setting, and it was easier when I wore scrubs in the hospital. Therefore I will probably purchase some basic black slacks for the fall and luckily I can wear jeans which are a staple in my wardrobe. So basically a few button up shirts with the stretch material will take me a long way, blazers, sweaters, knits tops etc should easily get me through the fall and winter. I save ALOT on food now. I was spending an average of $100 a week just on myself! I would dine out often, or go for drinks or just dessert at a swanky spot so some weeks I spent more, some less. So now I've been putting a little away towards the wardrobe replenishment fund to purchase pieces here and there for when I need them.
  20. Took it one day. No issue just hate taking meds. I was told to take it for about 6 mos. But I haven't. I don't have GERD or anything if I were having GI concerns I would take it.
  21. My hubby was very supportive he was responsible for meals for about 2 weeks. Lots of grilling! Afterward I prepared meals for the family. I made healthier meal choices for them. Nothing drastic. Lately the hubby and I have been dating more. He likes to see and be seen. So I've appeased him by suggesting we visit a local jazz club last Tuesday, an amphitheater concert Wednesday, movies Friday, dancing Saturday. He never turned me down. He's loving this... so am I. The cause-Newfound energy.
  22. I stopped my meds the day I had surgery. BP was good while in the hospital. 2 weeks post op 118/72. BP maintained in the normal range without meds by 6 weeks post op Dr. Discontinued meds officially.
  23. 8 days post op ate 1/2 a hot dog without the bun fresh off the grill. I then proceeded to eat a snack size bag of Doritos. They both went down fine, no problems afterward. I was very disappointed in myself, got back on plan and week 3 I had popcorn and vernors (gingerale). I Also ate salad. Again no issues just guilt. Then I made a choice to follow my plan to the letter for the next 3 weeks until I was on reggies (regular). I did. I also spent that time planning out meals, Protein, exercise so that I could really enbrace this lifestyle. I have alcohol on occasion. I ate a slice of cake at a wedding. This time. No guilt. I have the power. I made an informed choice. I no longer consider it cheating. Maybe not the best choice but I maintain accountability for my choices.
  24. Current weight 217 active weight loss mode. Goal 202 or below preferably onederland I've set a personal goal to get there by 10/1. I know I'm late but I want in!
