  1. You are both absolutely right, I know that I keep forgetting that I just had major surgery. I guess I am just frustrated being still 2 weeks away from being about to eat pureed food. I feel like I should be dropping weight like crazy since I am killing myself eating the same two things everyday. Protein shake, Soup, Protein Shake, soup.... over and over. I just want a scrambled egg or some tuna fish so bad... still two more weeks. Sorry to whine Im just feeling a bit discouraged.

  2. Hi Everyone,

I had gastic sleeve surgery May 31st. For the first week I struggled badly to take in my Protein count. Most days I was lucky to get 20g a day. The Protein shakes were disagreeing with me and the flavorless Protein I bought was far from flavorless (yuck!). My nutritionist urged me to make enriched milk using powdered non-fat milk mixed with skim milk. I have been using this the last week in cream Soups and with sugar free pudding or coffee and im finally hitting my protein goals.

But, my weight loss totally stopped. I lost 16lbs the first week and nothing the last 7 days despite the fact that I have gone back to work and been much more active. I have no idea why it has stopped. My calorie count is exceptionally low... less than 500 a day. Im drinking only Water. Im not cheating at all. What gives!?! Any thoughts???

    Soooo frustrated!

  3. First night was HELL...nausea and vomiting all night. Dizziness, pain, discomfort... couldnt walk. Everytime I wretched from vomiting I would wet the bed and they would have to change everything. I thought I was going to die. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! A week out now I am 70% back to normal... I can walk with an abdominal binder, the pain is fine and the nausea only comes on if I dont have my belly supported well. It gets better, hang in there. sleep as much as you can...thats how I got through the hospital days.

  4. I had my surgery on May 31st (one week ago) and feel like everything is progressing well. My biggest lingering complaint is sleeping. No matter what I do I cannot sleep on either side or flat on my back. The only option where I can get any relief is to prop my upper body up on about 5 pillows and sleep this way. If I try to sleep any other way I experience nausea or gas pains in my chest.

Anyone else encounter this issue? I have tried using pillows to prop up my belly on my sides, nothing seems to help. Any advice?

  5. I totally understand where you are at...my surgery was on May 31st and my surgeon has me on full liquid for 4 weeks! I dont know how I am going to make it 3 more weeks without any chewing. And the broth and Protein shakes are just about as unappetizing as anything I can imagine. I called my surgeon today to ask about maybe very soft scrambled eggs or tuna and they said absolutely not. I am not sure how I am going to make it. I think that what you did is totally understandable and I doubt it will have any negative affects on you. I would say try not to, but so many surgeons approve soft foods after only 2 weeks, so it cant be that bad. Just cautious... and really try to follow what you can of the full liquid.< /p>

  6. How is everything going for you? My surgery date was also May 31st but I live in the San Francisco bay area of CA. I am healing ok. Some pain at the large incision site mainly but overall not bad. Are you up and about now? I am still feeling sore walking and and sitting up but not bad overall. How about yourself?
