  1. I wasn't happy with my ugly gown until I sharted and then I was glad it wasn't my pjs![emoji23]
  2. Try protein 2o. It tastes sort of like gator aid and has fifteen grams of protein. I love the grape and cherry and I find I can stomach those better in the morning when I'm prone to nausea. I'm also mixing my shakes with water because I don't feel ready for creamy textures from skim or almond milk. Good luck.

    Day 1 post op

My first day was horrible too. I've had lap band and several abdominal surgeries and this one was the worst one with tons of gas and nausea BUT at about 24 hours I felt so much better! I'm getting around very well with occasional pain and nausea. My biggest struggle is getting all my liquid and protein in. Congrats

    Difficulties

Honestly I did pretty horrible on my preop diet but still got to have my surgery. I had several last meals. I also didn't have to jump through insurance hoops and had lost a good amount of weight before I came to see my doctor. Everything went well. Try to stay on diet the last week or so. I'm crazy committed to my diet now. Good luck!

    April sleevers!?

I got mine done Monday morning. The first day sucked mostly because I couldn't have water or even ice chips but I made it to my swallow test and was released last night. My weight went up about eight pounds from retaining fluid but that will be coming out soon. Still trying to get all my liquid and protein in. Sipping is hard when you sleep half the day. Excited for all of you and good luck!
  6. Well I survived but honestly going over 24 hours without water was the worst! After my swallow test they let me have room temperature liquids but I couldn't have any ice chips. But after I was able to drink I felt so much better. One night in the hospital and back home now and feeling good. That first day sucked but I can't believe how much better I feel now!
  7. I got my sleeve this morning but am not allowed to drink anything or have ice chips for a full 24 hours at the hospital. Is this normal? I thought it was clear liquids.
  8. Protein2o is amazing when I need a shake break. I love the grape and cherry.

    Tomorrow's the day

Lol and last night I had the biggest test of will power. It was akin to psychological torture. I had to fill Easter eggs with chocolate and jelly beans. The first time I have ever done that without eating it! I even survived the Reese's peanut butter cup eggs. I haven't done perfect on my fast but that made me feel like I finally got my brain right and ready for the sleeve.

    Tomorrow's the day

Woohoo!!! I'm scheduled for tomorrow at 5:30 am:) So excited!!!
  11. I hear you. Feel your feelings, sit with them for awhile, identity what triggered it and try to find something else to occupy your time. There will be slip ups but don't beat yourself up. Good luck.

    Cheat

That's protein not Easter candy so a bit won't hurt your progress.
  13. Get the junk out of the house before you start and stock up on sugar free popsicles and jello when you need more than a shake. If you screw up just get back on your diet. Good luck my surgery is tomorrow!

    Anxiety

Good luck to you! I'm going in to surgery at 5:30 am Monday. I'm nervous excited. I'm weird but I don't mind surgery just the after sore part.
  15. I've cheated but now that I'm in the last few days I'm trying to do extra good. I told my nurse I'd been struggling and honestly they didn't seem to care too much and surgery is a go on Monday. Just try to stay lower carb if you can. FYI when I got banded I was perfect on my preop all liquid two week diet but struggled badly with the band. My brother was the exact opposite, blew is preop diet but lost great with the band, so it isn't necessarily a precursor to what is to come. Good luck! We are almost there:)
  16. lol I see this place hasn't changed since 2008![emoji23]
  17. lol compared to my stretch marks and csection scar they are beautiful but really they do fade and are small for surgery. I have pretty much the same scars from gall bladder surgery. So if you are embarrassed because they are from weight loss surgery, no one has to know. But mederma does work well it just takes awhile.

Struggling to get the weight off.

I started losing weight in January and lost very well doing alternate day fasting. It helped me recognize different hungers but I could still eat foods I liked every other day. It's a good way to start and makes the liquid fast easier when you switch over. I lost about 20 pounds. I went to my nutritionist a month ago and she didn't want me to do the fast and Ive actually gained five pounds trying to eat "normal". Lol Anyway I'm on my liquid diet now and I lose if I keep to it. I have bad days but try and get back on today. Today when I went to my preop doc appointment I was up two pounds(my surgery is Monday!!!). I told the nurse that isn't much for me because depending on water weight from my cycle or constipation I can be 5 to 8 pounds heavier any given day. Next time I'm weighing naked;) lol Good luck and just do what you have to do to lose the weight and get surgery. You are almost there!

    Energy

I'm having this issue to and went to bed at 7pm. I also found out my vitamin d was super low so that could be part of it too.

    Help with diet

My diet before the preop was to stick within my calorie range for height and weight. She wanted me to focus on portion sizes, protein and making healthy choices but nothing was off limits. I exercised so I could eat more. Bought a fit bit. Lol

    Cheated on the preop diet

I've been struggling too but I reset the other day and got my mind right. All you can change is today and take each day as it comes. I have some matcha tea I use to help fast and it really helps and also cleans out water and poo weight;) And not everyone who flubs on the preop isn't successful. My brother completely blew his preop diet for his lap band and became the surgeon's poster boy he was so successful. Like eight year layers and he still has kept it off.

    Pre-op diet. Need a buddie

I have not been doing well on my pre op diet but I finally got my head straight and today has been great. I can't believe surgery is Monday. My kids feel bad I can't eat Easter candy though. Lol They felt better now that I went and got my sugar free jello.

    Taste buds have changed

I hope I hate chocolate after surgery. Lol
  24. When I was banded this was probably the easiest thing to adjust too mostly because if you drank on top of food you would end up getting stuck. I agree though I think it's one of those things that's hard to practice. Luckily after surgery you have to take everything and think about everything you eat and drink. It's probably a bit different with the sleeve but hopefully somewhat similar.
  25. No but I'm getting my sleeve Monday at St. E's in Lincoln!
