    Surgery tomorrow.

Adding today....surgery yesterday. Up and took a walk just a little bit ago. Will do that 3 more times today. Not especially able to do the clear liquids but I kept my juice from my tray. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery tomorrow.

I'm in my room post op. Been sipping my Water and sucking on ice. Didn't have awful gas pain that I expected. But I do have one area that feels pretty bad. All in all a good feeling. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Good luck everyone! My surgery is also tomorrow but I don't have to be at the hospital until 11:30. Just enjoyed a crystal light pineapple coconut Water (virgin pina colada). I'm not nervous - this will be my new beginning Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gas Removal at Surgery

My understanding is that they do remove much of the gas but it does land in pockets. When i had my gall bladder removed the pain between my shoulders was awful. Walking it off will help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Just told me MIL

I was afraid to tell my mother. She's 89 and still "perky" but she has spent years judging my food choices and second guessing me on my health. What happened was I showed her my binder of info I was given, she was AMAZINGLY supportive and shared with me that she personally knows someone who had recently had WLS. I'm not sure if my sister approves or not. She hasn't really said anything directly to me. But she doesn't really struggle with weight at all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Teaspoon of sugar free Jello. I put strawberry jello and cheesecake pudding in vanilla. Very tasty! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein

Forgot to add that I have discovered adding sugarfree jellos, puddings, and drop in powders. (1/2 to 1 t per shake) you can have wonderful flavor combinations. Yesterday I had strawberry-banana with vanilla. Today may be a root beer float thanks to A & W Water dropins. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein

I've tried the nectar brand. It was ok but not really my favorite. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!

I'm scheduled for 10/26 and appointment with the surgeon two weeks prior. I've been replacing meals consistently now 2 a day with shakes I add the PB2 to my chocolate Protein. I bought banana powder to add to the vanilla. Haven't tried it yet. I use generic calorie free flavored dropins (pineapple is my favorite) to zing it up without having to buy flavors. October 2016 Bypass Buddies?

Just got my date today: October 26 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I started with an online quiz in January and yesterday, the surgeon's office indicated that they were submitting my claim before my last primary care dr appointment...which wasn't until October. (My plan called for 7 visits) I could have my approval as early as next week. I've been doing Protein shakes for two meals most days...don't mind them at all. I've got support from almost everyone in my life. I just want to be on the other side of this.... Patience never was one of my virtues! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I actually am embracing the Protein drinks...I have found that I can switch up the flavors by adding either Peanut Butter powder, or a drop in Water flavor packet and that has really broadened the horizons. I'm doing this now pre-surgery twice a day at least three times a week. I've noticed that about 10 minutes after I finish my shake my heart feels fluttery for about a minute then it goes back to normal. Anyone else experience this? Shakes!?!?

I use a couple different ones. Musclemilk and Elevation (from Aldi. for the vanilla flavor I add an individual flavored drop-in powder. Right now my favorite is pineapple drop-in and vanilla. I also put Peanut Butter powder (low fat low cal) with my chocolate shakes. Yum! I'm currently down to one more primary doctor visit and then hopefully a quick approval but until then I'm using the Protein drinks for two meals a day most days. That's remarkable progress! Sorry about your complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I can understand your frustration. With my gall bladder surgery I think the surgeon may have mentioned gas pain from the laparoscopic procedure, but I was in AGONY! That taught me to say this anytime I'm with a doctor..."for you as a doctor, you do _________ multiple times...but for me as a patient, not so much". Fill in the info. All the info. Why different pre-op diets?

As hard as it might be my plan is to do as the doctor says. I'm at least 3 months preop and am trying alternate days of liquid diet Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Does anyone own a Fitbit?

I have the Fitbit flex. A hand me down from my son. I found replacement bands on Amazon and can color-mood coordinate which keeps me excited about moving more. Today I have a flowered band. Tomorrow is "camo" day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Your situation is similar to mine as far as the health issues. Please try not to dwell on the risks - think of it more as without the surgery your health will not improve. My primary care dr is amazingly supportive as are all the professionals I've seen for screenings. My extended family doesn't know I'm pursuing this yet - but by and large I have support from those that do know. This is a choice you make for your future. Good luck with the seminar! 24. Because of the poor shape my body has been in for at least the past 6 years, when I walk more than a tenth of a mile my back begins to scream at me... I've replaced shoes and that helps a little...I've tried just stopping and resting but when it happens the first time I know that it will happen at shorter and shorter intervals. I need to know what I can do to strengthen those back muscles? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
