starting BMI over 50? come on in!

I just started using fitday since I have to have 7 days worth of journals to bring to my dietitician/psychologist appts in a few weeks. I'm already heartbroken--my favorite breakfast from Burger King is as much calories as I should have in a full day, along with 222 carbs...omg. See, just journaling never made me "aware" of what I was eating...to me, it was a small/regular breakfast. But when you see the nutritional facts is what really opens your eyes!

    Getting & keeping a boy/girlfriend?

I accidentally came here yesterday when I meant to click on "Twenties" but I think I have some advice for you all: I'm 24 but I started dating my current fiance when I was 17, and while I weighed less then than I do now, I was still about 300 when I met him, and he still stays by my side even when I gained more. I also had a hard time finding guys that would date me in high school...until I started online dating. I found my fiance in a chat room on Yahoo. I really recommend online dating for not just people like us, but even some of my friends who are really shy or one of my friends who just gets really spazzy sometimes and it can be overwhelming if he met someone face-to-face before they got to know him. The reason online dating is nice is because you get to know someone without the first impression of looks. Plus, it's not as emotionally high risk because if you start talking to someone and it doesn't work out early on, you never have to see or talk to them again, no awkwardness of being in the same school as someone. Of course, it is harder if you find someone who is further away, like my boy lived in New York while I was from Iowa, but now I live in NY as well just to be with him and we're getting married soon. I would do it all over again if I had to just to be as happy as I am now--6 years of being apart was worth it. With alot of dating sites though, you can specify how far away you are willing to look for someone. Anyways, that's the end of my little rant, good luck everyone! Here are some pics of me and my sweety:
  3. Torrid's clothing doesn't fit me very well...I think it's mostly Junior Plus so the fit is alot different than regular plus size for me.
  4. I have to say thank you to everyone for this thread, it made me realize that some of the things I have to do aren't just me or because I weigh more than most of you--it makes me feel more normal! I thought having to tug on my clothes all the time was just my personal body, boobs going up to the neck when laying down, etc...
  5. I thought about alli, but yeah...no thanks. I would recommend reading the pamphlet before trying it. Once you understand how it works, you probably won't want it.
  6. You are so cute! I looooove that dress...

    What's ur goal?!?!?

My goal is to get down to 150, which will probably be a 10 or 12? My fiance doesn't want me real skinny and neither do I, but maybe after I get down there, get PS if I need it, 125 was -always- my goal weight, but it might not be attainable anymore, wear a 7/8. I would be happy under 200 though and be able to wear normal sized clothing. Right now I don't even know what size I wear, last time I bought a 32 trench coat for a costume it didn't even fit. Everything I wear has to stretch, so I buy 26/28 because I can't really get anything higher. Shirts have to be 4-5X now. I wear a 48DD bra, and even that is tight, but Lane Bryant doesn't go any higher. I would be happy in a 38 bra or under so I could buy them anywhere.

How soon after can i drink?

The only thing you really -shouldn't- drink is beer because of the carbonation. Like everyone else already said, the only consideration is the liquid calories, it's not going to do any damage to your body.
  9. Ooooh, those swimsuits are so cute! Thank you for introducing me to a new plus-size site I didn't know about!
  10. I'm so glad someone made this thread, I've been thinking about it for awhile. -Having to worry about breaking toilet seats (yes, I broke 2 in our old apartment last year) -Dreading chairs with arms -Afraid of parking in some parts of my neighborhood just because of a tiny hill -Making my fiancee feel bad because he can't buy me clothes, especially when he worked at Old Navy -Not being able to wear cute shoes because of the width -Not being able to shop at most stores -Ugly swimsuits and undergarments -Clothes for older women in most places that do sell plus-size--just because you're fat doesn't mean you're 70! -Not being able to try new sex positions and making my fiancee do most of the work -Worrying about fitting into restaurant booths -Feet hurting all the time from walking, I don't get out of breath or tired, my feet just kill me from the weight -All the looks I get if I even have a healthy snack at work, when some people eat all day long but are thin -Still getting called names at 24 years old. "Whale" and "600-pound gorilla" were the most recent. -Not wanting to go to concerts anymore because I can't fit in the arena seats -Praying that nobody has to sit next to me on the airplane -My mother constantly criticizing my weight -Having to buy new clothes all the time because the thighs wear out or I keep getting stains on shirts -Being able to only wear things that stretch -Hating blue jeans Gah, I could go on...

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Awesome! I haven't been able to cross my legs "like a girl" my whole life--I used to be able to cross them "like a guy" but the last few years I haven't been able to even do that

Thanks all--I needed to hear that I'm so thankful for this special forum, it's nice to be around people in the same boat as me.

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

I disappeared for a bit while I was waiting to meet my surgeon, but I finally had my first appointment, now it's just a matter of getting through the rest of the appointments I need (nutritionist, psychologist, pulminologist, and PCP). I can schedule my surgery at any time and he said it would be about 6 weeks out from whenever I schedule it. I have to wait though since my fiance lost his job, I don't know how much of the money I saved up for this will be needed for rent. It's kind of disheartening now that I know my real weight, I think I have the highest BMI of any female on the board :huh2:

    Most Important NSVs

I haven't been banded yet, but the things I'm looking most forward to that aren't on the list: Buying "normal" sized clothing and shoes Fitting in airplane/stadium/any other armed seats, amusement parks Not having to worry about being too heavy for things, fitting into toilet stalls, etc. There's a lot of things I'm hoping happens!

Thanks for offering, but unfortunately, my bike was stolen while I was in college! (Figures, right?)

    Ok Here's My Story!!

Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

    Sex Life

At least with being single, you have no problems taking care of "business" yourself. Now that I've been living with my fiancee for about a year now, I get lazy and don't want to...because I know I could be having someone else do it. But darnit, he's either not home or not in the mood most of the time!

Mine was a mountain bike (with the wider tires than 10-speeds with the curled handlebars) and while my tires were noticeably flatter when I was sitting on it, they didn't pop, even going up curbs and stuff. You'll be fine! I don't know about the skinny tires, though.

Poll: Do you miss diet soda?

A few months ago I was drinking 1 or 2 2-liters a day of Mt. Dew. When I started thinking about the Lap-Band, I just stopped. I already loved Crystal Light so it wasn't a big deal to switch to drinking only that. I have a Vault once in awhile, but I won't mind giving it up once I have the surgery.
  21. This may seem like a strange question, but I've seen this happen enough that it worries me sometimes...a person loses a ton of weight and their face ends up being uglier than before. For those of us that have been overweight our entire lives, we have no idea what our face will look like without the padding. Do you ever worry that you'll be less attractive after you've lost all the weight than you are now? (Face only--we know our bodies will look better no matter what!)

    Rejected

I'm sorry to hear that you have to wait another 6 months. Why can't you go on with deer season, though? Depending on when you get your surgery, recovery is at max a few weeks...you could always move the surgery if recovery might interfere with the short time period for deer hunting. Do whatever you need to keep yourself happy!

LJM, how much did you lose after the TT? I've been following along, but I don't remember how much you weighed before the surgery.
  24. Wow, a few of you brought up something I hadn't thought of--I really hope that nobody ever doesn't have the surgery because they're afraid they'll look worse afterwards! I would never sacrifice my health for vanity, this is just a question I've been pondering for awhile :huh2:
  25. Thanks for all the posts, everyone! Kat, thank you for all the extra tips. I already knew where I was getting my Protein powder but I forgot about the Clear liquids phase. I already have one step ahead of the surgery in that I stopped drinking soda weeks ago. I've always loved Crystal Light (I buy the generic though) and now that's all I drink. I never drank coffee so right now I'm already caffeine free
