I went to my first consult yesterday thinking the lap band & came out deciding on the sleeve. She recommended the sleeve as i have 100lbs to lose & I didnt like the idea of a foreign object, needing adjustments (i hate needles) & deciding whether i was going to wear this for life. I also read abt people gaining the weight back, not that it cant happen with the sleeve but personally i feel the sleeve will help me longer term. Good luck& blessings! I just had my first (5/27) of 6 nutritional appoints as required by my insurance. I am hoping for a December surgery, this is my speaking it into existence. I hope to get a quick approval! I recently had lunch with some colleagues from work & they wanted to sit outside to over look the Water outside the restaurant, the set I was literally squeezing in to the booth, we ended up moving to inside the restaurant. Hi, I am just starting the process as well. I had my first appoint yesterday & have 5 more nutritional visits as required by my insurance. Hope to get approved Nov/Dec. 6mths to learn nutrition & learn abt the new life we'll have after the surgery. Blessings to us!

Hi Tina, I too just started the journey, I just had my first appoint yesterday. My insurance require 6mths of nutritional visits. I also have future appoints scheduled (psych eval, sleep study, stress echo...). So far i meet the BMI requirement (bmi 43). Like you, I'm hesitant to tell others. I have chosen to tell 1 person so far, that I want to do this. I dnt know if I will tell anyone else. Once approved, I may tell my sister but, my mom would not understand. I'm excited to take this journey, I'm just tired of the yoyo dieting. I feel this will help make huge difference. Good luck & blessings!

I have BCBS-CA PPO. I had my first appointment yesterday, i have to have 6mths of nutritional visits. I have to show weight history for the past 3 years, I dnt know if I have all 3years. I have a BMI of 43. I will meet the requirements by end of November 2016. What were some of the challenges you experienced with meeting the requirements for the surgery? I am also using the OBand center which i believe is out of network, but they were not concerned. Share your experience getting approved or denied & appeals?
