  1. I'm so excited, I called my insurance again 3x now to verify there's no additional requirement other than medical necessity & obesity. I also called Uhealth the new place i will be using they verified my insurance & she said they just need proof of failed methods so they take that to mean at least 3mths of visits. Yay! I dnt have to wait 6mths, I'm praying for Sept/Oct!! Sept would be perfect as a bday ????! Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  2. @@2goldengirl oh ok, thank you for letting me know. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App

  4. @@MarlenesLifeJourney I'm brand new & doing a lot of research. I started off with the oband center in Hollywood but, I found out they are out of network & they told me I need 6mths nutritional visits but when i called my insurance, my policy doesn't seem to have that requirement. I dnt want to wait 6mths. 3mth ok but 6more?hmm, I'm going to attend a Uhealth (UM) seminar by Dr. De la cruz who is in network & go from there. I have bcbs-ca do you have any recommendations?
  5. Congrats, how was your surgery? Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  6. This was an awesome thread to read, thank you everyone for sharing. I have bcbs-ca but am located in FL. My employer just switch to them this plan yr. I called & was told the procedure needed to be medically necessary, I though that was odd considering what I've been reading but this post made a lot of sense. I originally went to an oband center who currently have me on the 6mth plan but,I will be attending a seminar w/ uhealth on Tuesday & hope to go from there Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  7. Thank you all for sharing, before seeing this post. I started writing a letter that chronicles all my diet efforts from middle school to date. I will show proof of recent efforts such as hcg, atkins, meal delivery, medifast, weight watchers, quick weightloss, LA weightloss & much more, including wellness initiatives at work. 8. I have bcbs-ca What I'm reading online is not what I'm told when i call. It seems all i need is proof of obesity, surgery is medically necessary & get pre-authourized. I'm going to a uhealth seminar on Tuesday & hope all goes well. I'm praying I don't have to wait six months Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  9. @@loren120515 I'm in FL& I have the same insurance. My company just switched to bcbs-ca. What was your experience getting approved, what requirements did u have to meet? I called & I was told the surgery is covered as long as its medically necessary, have my pcp letter & get it pre-authourized. Was that your experience? Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  10. I read online some employers can op out of offering that benefit, it makes the plan cheaper. I recommend contacting your benefit person at work. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  11. I just wanted to add if you're paying out pocket for the surgery I believe you can claim it on your taxes vs. going overseas. I dnt know all the details but I read that somewhere online Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  12. I would if I had to but, I'm going to go through my insurance & praying for a smooth process Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App

  14. My bcbs cover 80% after I've met my $2k deductible. I will finance the rest if i have to, i need this. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  15. I called my insurance & spoke to 2 different reps & 2 separate occasions & not much is required. They stated the surgery is covered as long as it's for obesity meeting the bmi requirements. I've set up an appointment to see an in network doctor. If I dnt have to wait 6mths I would be elated Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  16. I have bcbs-ca & i called on several occasions & they said the same for my plan, I'm so surprised. I went to a center who told me they had the 6mths diet requirement so i believed them but when i spoke to my insurance directly they didn't have that & said some doctors have their own requirements not the insurance. I was told the procedure is covered for obesity, but I will consult with another doctor & go from there. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App

  20. @ oh yes, I really appreciate your advice. I really want this but want to start of right & not waste precious time by not being fully informed. I also started googling reviews from patients who used that center. This is a holiday weekend so I will have to wait till Tuesday to contact my insurance. Thanks again! 21. Have anyone used the O'band Centers for the sleeve, please share your experience. So far I've learned they are out of network, it was casually mentioned i'd received the checks from the insurance & bring them to my appoint. I really don't want to waste the next 6mths of nutritional visits required by my insurance. I will call my insurance to get more info but, I would like hear others experiences. Thank u in advance for your insight! Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App

  24. @ I've only had my first appoint. I haven't gotten ask many questions but, this is something I will start inquiring abt next appoint. I plan to also call my insurance & ask questions to get clarification on everything..Thank you! Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
  25. @ so far they said I dnt have to pay anything out of pocket. All appointments are convered all the way to the procedure as everything will be done at the Oband center. I was initially interested in the band but after my first visit I'm really leaning towards the sleeve. I dnt like the idea of the foreign object & the adjustments (I hate needles) & the possibility of having the foreign object for life. I like the sleeve as i have 100lbs to lose & a more permanent solution. Thank u, I will use my gyn records Blessings! Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
