  1. Hi, hope you all having a good day.

I'm 6 month post op and have lost 81 pounds, but there is something I have been struggling since the beginning and that is my Water intake. I've never drank water before. I would usually drink juices or soda (2 or 3 coca cola a day, yep guilty as charged). After surgery is been really hard to reach my water goals. I don't like the "taste" and when I drink it it has to be very cold (room temperature water sucks). I often forget that I have to drink it, specially when I'm at work. I mostly prefer drinking natural coconut water or natural juices, but I really want to drink water, because that's best right. I've tried flavoring it, but I haven't found one that suits my taste.

So I was wondering what is working for you out there. I need some advice. Maybe your input can help me with this.

Thanks and I hope you are having a good day.

  2. I'm on week 11 of my gastric sleeve and doing very well. I have a nutrition question. Is it safe to eat products with wheat flour. I have some Cookies made with this and I don't know if should eat them or not.

I don't want to do anything that affects my good results.

You should know that I had to move and I'm not having hollow ups with the team that did my surgery. I'm currently on the look out for new doctor and nutritionist.

    Thanks.

  3. I saw my surgeon today and had some of those sticking out. The nurse just snipped them off. She said as the body heals sometimes some of the stitches can come out and it's just part of the healing process. As long as there is not redness or signs of infection around the incision you can most likely just snip them off!

Thank you very much for your helpful response.

  4. I always have them. They are dissolve stitches so you can try and pull it alittle and clip it. That is what the dr always tells me to do. Hope that helps!!!

Thanks for your response. May I ask when did you had your surgery.

i had my sleeve surgery on June 15, 2015-two of my incisions had them sticking out, gallbadder was removed on Dec 29, 2015 -one of my incisions had it sticking out. I had plates and screws removed from my arm and had three stitches come through. Every time I have call and told them about it that is what they have told me. When I had my gallbladder removed, it was about a month later when I saw stitch pop out and when I pulled it to clip it, it actually just came right out. I have been told that I will always have this problem as my body is very sensitive to any foreign objects(hints me having to get the plates and screws removed, my body started to reject them)
Thanks for the response. I'll feel more at ease now. I will be sure to call my doctor tomorrow.

  5. If there is no redness nor pain, I would put a band aid over it and call your bariatric team in the morning.

    .

If you are going to panic, then call the office now and ask for a call back by the physician on call.

Rest easy. Take a deep breath. Call now or in the morning. Which ever will put you at ease.

Prayers going up for you, Friend.

Thanks. I'm more at ease now with the responses I'm getting. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

  6. Hello

I'm freaking out right now. One of my scar (one of the little ones) has two strands of plastic, I'm guessing that it was used to close the wound. I had my surgery on May 16 and I have 5 incisions and they well an covered with the "glue". No I have 3 scars that have lost the glue or most of it and I can see the scar left behind. I'm really nervous as to why I can see the "plastic strand" sticking out of my body. Is this normal? Do they fall out? Something's wrong?

Doctors office is close and I'm going crazy.

    Community please help.

  7. Thanks to all for your responses. Today I went to the doctor. The results from the chest scan are good. I increased my Water intake and on Monday will be starting soft puree food. So far that seems to be the issue. Doctor told me that my body is getting used to a new situation. Got a new EGD today. They just want to know if there is no surgery related problems. Doctor is confident that I'll be back to normal.

  8. Early out i had heart palpitations and a faster heart rate.. for me i drank some electrolytes and they eased quite dramatically.. during my first two weeks i was not drinking as much as i am now (5 weeks out) and once i uppped my Water level it settled down.

I notice that if i have not met most of my Water for the day i do get little flutters...

So i made a rule for myself... that i cant go to bed without meeting my water goals.

You might be dehydrated... if you are struggling consider breaking up the water to soften it... i know for me.. adding sugar free flavour helped... i also infuse my water with lemon and mint... thay helped the most.. it really softens the water and helps me get more in.

Obviously wait for your results from your doctor... but increasing your hydration is a must regardless of the results.

Good luck and keeps us posted

Thanks for your response. I've been trying to drink more liquids and meeting my daily goals. I'll keep your advice and discuss it with doctor again as she told me the same. Hopefully my results are clear and is just dehydration.

  9. Hello to all

I'm a 33 year old female who had her sleeve gastrectomy last May 16. I thought I was doing pretty well I'm terms of low pain and high energy. Daily I'm not reaching the liquids goal. Sometimes I reach 32 oz. They highest I got was last Tuesday with 66 oz (the recommendation by my doctor is 64 oz).

The thing is my first check was last Monday 23rd. I lost 15 pounds (hooray), my blood pressure was normal (it always is), BUT my pulse was high. First time they took it was 145, the 132 and finally 121. Doctor found it odd because I have no history of heart problems and I was feeling really fine. They ask me to drink more liquids and comeback on Wednesday. When I got there again same story. Blood pressure was 129/73 but pulse started in 145 and the got lower like before but never reaching 100 or lower. She send me to do a chest scan to see if there was a cloth and then they sent me home. Next appointment is tomorrow.

Ok this post has gotten pretty long, but I wanna know if anyone of you out there has/had this problem.

    Thanks
