  1. I've had the Realize Band for 10 months and not had any problems. I have a friend with Lap Band and she's been having a great deal of slippage problems. I don't know if that's common with LapBand but the Realize is the newest out and it's a Johnson and Johnson product.

  2. Hi Harvest, I had my first fill (3cc I have a 9cc band) on Monday. Five days later and I don't feel a thing. I've been on will power and know I've had more than a cup to eat. I called today and made an appt for 8/15. I've lost 21 lbs since surgery but since the surgery swelling went down IT'S BEEN WILL POWER. I'm anxious for this band to kick in and do it's part. good luck

  3. Hi, I too take Metformin but the XL which isn't supposed to be crushed. I now take 2 regular Metformin and it's awfully bitter. It's so important to take your meds and I bet that's why you feel crummy. Without the metformin your sugar is probably going way up and that's why you're so tired. When it spikes from eating and then eventually goes down it's exhausting not to mention may be causing damage. Soon you'll be off it but in the meantime, crush your pills and take it with apple sauce it covers the bitterness.

I bet you'll be off it in no time.

  4. Hi, had my surgery on Tuesday the 24th. Feeling 100% today after several days of "belching" and discomfort. Anyone else feeling hungry? Today is the first day I'm wanting to eat something and it's driving me nuts. I had Farina today for the first time (1/2 cup) and thought I would feel full but no luck. I guess self control is already at hand!!!!!

  5. June must be the month for teachers! I received my approval in March and decided to wait until summer vacation. My surgery date is this Tuesday, 6/24. I'm so excited (and nervous) to start my new life! It wll be such a blessing not to be exhausted and wanting to take a nap when I get home from school when I lose weight.

P.S. Nannypants, I haven't sat on the floor in years! I think I'd need the

fire department to give me a boost..(the kids would love that I'm sure):biggrin2:

  6. I share your feelings. My surgery is this Tuesday and I'm becoming increasingly nervous. I'm not afraid of the surgery but of struggling with the adjustment afterwards (vomiting - food getting stuck). I'm sure the solution is to make good choices and be vigilant. I hope you have adjusted well since your surgery. GOOD LUCK:smile:

  7. I agree it is very scary. I finally received my surgery date and went to the dietician yesterday. All this information was a little overwhelming and I walked out feeling apprehensive. I'm going through with it because I feel as though this is my last chance. I've never been successful all on my own and I need this tool to help me become healthy. I want to get off my meds and add years to my life. The first few weeks may be a struggle but in the end how wonderful it will be!!!!!!:biggrin2:

  8. After a year, I've finally been approved. My surgery will be in June.

I have been a controlled diabetic for 8 years. Three months ago I had a surgery and was on a high dose of steroids (which I'm off of now). Since the hospitalization my sugars are 200 plus. My doctor started me on insulin injections a couple of weeks ago. Have any of you gone off insulin since your surgery? I'm still taking the Metformin too.

I'm hoping the surgery will help me so I can get off the injections. Any advice??????

  9. Hi, I live in the western suburbs of Chicago and visited three lap band centers before I made my decision. I went with the Kane Center in Arlington Heights. It's the farther from my home than the other two but the one I felt most comfortable with. So far it's been a positive experience. Their insurance department fought for my surgery after it was originally denied. I'll be having surgery in the next few months.
