Goin fishin?

I did go salmon fishing 7 days after my surgery. I had a great time. No issues whatsoever. I didn't catch a salmon but I did catch a mess load of squaw fish. My brother-in-law got about a 3 to 4 pound Jack Salmon. My sweetie went out yesterday the same spot that I was at. She got a 14 pound Chinook! We will be smoking those not this weekend but next. -
Who did it in Mexico tiajuana?

I accidentally hit send already on that first post. I did research online on dr. Mauricio Gutierrez to find out any information I could. One of the things that I do really like about him is that he has had a zero complication rate. I have to say that I was so impressed that I would consider flying down there for a broken arm before going to my local hospital. I was off work for 8 days total. I do feel like I can do much more than what I am. The surgery was on Monday and I stayed over night that night. The next day around midday I was discharged to a nice hotel. Wednesday morning I went back to the hospital and they sent me for a barium swallow and x-ray, they declared that I was good to go and I was back over the Border within 48 Hours of my surgery time. -

Once I'm one regular foods for about a month I will go to my PCP and get a blood draw to check for Vitamin deficiency. Other than that I have no need for follow up. I was lucky with finding my Dr., I personally know 5 people who have been to him and of those are medical professionals. -

I did and I couldn't be happier! My post wasting away in Margaritaville seems to have disappeared. It is a good thing that I copied it... This was 8/29/16. So yesterday was my day to get the sleeve. I'm down here in Tijuana Mexico with doctor Mauricio gutierez at Trinity Medical. I got down here on Sunday and they treated my wife two tacos for lunch and lobster for dinner at local restaurants. They also took us sightseeing. One of the restaurants was absolutely gorgeous out on the coast. Everybody that we've met here has been beyond anything I've ever received in the states. I have to admit that shortly after the sleeve I was in quite a bit of pain but I'm over that now. Most everything is just a little discomfort. In about 10 hours I get to have my compression socks off anb the IV removed. Part of their follow-up care while I'm here is to take us shopping. While doing so they will have a member of the staff pounding on my back to help with releasing the gas. I couldn't have been treated better. Little bit of strangeness last night. I rolled on my left side and I felt what can only be described as a fart inside the tissue of my back. It scared the heck out of me. I immediately rolled back on my back and let out a rather large burp. I did find that rolling from one side to my back and then over to the other side and back to my back got a lot of the gas out. Kind of interesting. They are taking my sweetie for an hour of massage this afternoon. We're getting treated nicer than we've ever been. One thing that I'm quite happy about is that everything went good during my pre op so they didn't need to put in a drain. From what I've heard that is the worst part of this. They estimate that my liver shrunk 40-50% and I didn't have bleeding. Whew! Everything is going well. I'm definitely weak and tired. I slept 18 of the last 24 hours. I overdid it yesterday by trying stairs and I paid for it. We will be back home tonight around 8pm. All that is left is x-rays and a leak test in the morning and I'm good to go. This morning I got to see the flip side of things. I mentioned xrays and a leak test. We did that in a different hospital. I saw 4 other people who looked like death warmed over. They were struggling bad. We overheard that one of the girls had a leak and it will obviously have to be repaired. Scary stuff! My xrays and test were great. I'm in the San Diego airport suckling on Vitamin Water and looking forward to being home. Ahhh the joys of home! Home that place where my devoted chocolate lab (chocolate moose) was so excited that she started jumping the moment that she saw me. I just barely kept her off my chest. It is also where our neurotic, psychotic love ball of a cat launched onto me in the middle of the night. Ouch! Needless to say he got thrown out of the bedroom with the door closed behind him! He has been a purrrrrfect angel this morning because he knows that he screwed up. -

Sleep Study
highfunctioningfatman replied to anrobe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your doctor for an overnight oximetry. They are typically less than $50 if you have to pay out of pocket. I do them all of the time at work through a company called Instant Diagnostic Systems. An oximetry is simple. A probe goes on your finger and a cord runs to a small machine that records heart rate and oxygen levels all night long. Once the unit is downloaded it will have a report that shows a graph for hr and another one for o2. When an apnea event happens your o2 level drops because the muscles in your airway relax as you sleep causing an obstruction in your airway. The bodies natural reaction is to increase heart rate to wake you up. Your graph with have a "sawtooth" pattern, especially on the heart rate side if you have apnea. Not as much information as a sleep study but in my experience it is an excellent tool for screening. -

I spent some time on the smoker and grill! Blackberry bbq chicken boobies, smoked bacon wrapped mushroom and parsley stuffed chicken thighs. We had a bunch of family and friends over. They enjoyed. Not pictured was a nice salad that was on the table. Those mashed potatoes? They aren't potatoes, that is mashed cauliflower. My mother in law always peels her potatoes. We grabbed the skins and cut them up into the cauliflower mash. Nobody knew until we told at the end.

Going back to work
highfunctioningfatman replied to alinakravchuk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 day after for me. Glad to be back. I just called all of us together because there were various rumors. I first I confirmed my penis reduction surgery and that explains why my pants are already loose. Then I told them that I had an alien baby in my stomach and there will be constant growling. I did slip in wls before mentioning that I was doing the Mexico water diet to constantly flush EVERYTHING out of my body and that I would be loosing weight one toilet flush at a time. -
Yes. On Monday. Great experience. Do research on your surgeon!

This is me when I got sick last year. I bought myself this balloon. Laughter is the best medicine and I felt like poop so I put my balloon on this dead deer. It is true, I felt much better stumbling back to my truck laughing my ass off. This is me playing with the dinosaurs naughty bits. Before you judge me keep in mind that he has really short arms and look how happy he is! I'm a nut. Here I was loosing my mind after doing the job of 5 people with 2. 70-80 hour weeks had been going on way too long. -

I'm questioning my broth?
highfunctioningfatman replied to turtle5569's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been "stealing" the broth from Safeways hot soup bar. I grab it from chunky chicken noodle. By the time I'm done it is super chunky! I transfer some into one of my wife's insulated coffee mugs and sip away. I just look like an everyday coffee freak now.
