Halo Top ice cream
highfunctioningfatman replied to kris2100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely think if you *know* it's a problem food, to skip it. But there are people who didn't live for ice cream (I am NOT one of them, thankyouverymuch! I'd cut you for Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk) who could eat something like Halo Top and do fine. It's really not much different than a yogurt, which I can eat without going overboard. I dunno, I guess in my newbie brain, I hope to be able to eat most normal things in moderation and have a bite or 2 of the 'better' version of an old favorite, like a little high-Protein Pasta or low-carb tortillas instead of my old flour friends. I may be wrong, of course! I agree 100% on not giving up on all of the wonderful foods out there. My point was that at 2 weeks out it would be very difficult to not start that as a habit that could go bad quickly. -

I keep eyeing a speed bag. A coworker had one and I loved it! -
Halo Top ice cream
highfunctioningfatman replied to kris2100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The issue for me would be portion control. Ice cream is a slider food. It is one of the foods that got me where I was. Being 2 weeks out would have been very difficult at best. -

Thanks! My wife and I love to cook. I always take off the entire week of Thanksgiving just so we can prepare and enjoy making all of the various dishes that we make. We usually have 15-20 people over in our 1300 sqft home and we love every minute of it! -

I made this meal 5 days after my sleeve. We had a bunch of people over and I smoked and bbq'ed. Part of why I did this was to to show myself that I didn't need food to be happy and enjoy an event. -
Halo Top ice cream
highfunctioningfatman replied to kris2100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. That just seems like by choosing a food along those lines is a bad choice in general. I know that for me it would be a slippery slope. -

Time off

A week off and I went salmon fishing the day before I came back. No issues whatsoever. Your results may vary. -
Extremely painful backaches
highfunctioningfatman replied to mr1121's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeppers. It sucked. It was from posture changes. I found a squishy ball slightly larger than a golf ball (thanks son!) and I lay on it with 2 pillows under my head. I start at my tailbone and work my way up to my neck. I lay there until the ball no longer hurts and then I move it. Once I reach my neck I remove a pillow and work my way back to my tailbone. At the tailbone I remove the last pillow and go back to my neck. This process takes about an hour. The next day I feel like my spine is bruised but what a difference! When I start I can't get my head on the ground but at the end it isn't difficult at all. -

I have a theory on this and I could be way off base. My heart rate resting used to be 85-86 now it is 68-70. That is a difference of 18% less blood being moved throughout my body. My theory is that I'm cold due to less blood flow. -
Halloween (can be healthy) Challenge - 10/3 through 10/31, 2016!

257! My goal was 260. I'm going to shoot high on this one at 249 as that is my 20% weight loss although 255 puts me in the 30's for bmi. Either way I'm a very happy still fat man! -
Cheese post-op

Baby bell gouda for the win! I also eat jack cheese and I love havarti. I have a hard time with cheddar though, it sits hard on my stomach. -
What soups?
highfunctioningfatman replied to susieghunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Safeway and ladled out the broth from their chunky chicken noodle soup. Five bucks for a quart. I put it in a coffee travel mug and just looked like your average everyday coffee freak. I personally wouldn't do cream of whatever soups simply because I didn't want to go the direction of something that I didn't want in my diet. -

Do you mind if I ask what kind of work you do? My husband said he would be interested in WLS but he worries about work. He is in industrial maintenance. He could take off the time for surgery, but he worries about going back to work. There is no such thing as light duty for his job. Sorry for hijacking this thread, but when you mentioned boots, it made me think about this... carry on. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App I work for a home oxygen and respiratory company. Normally I'm 33/34/33 field/office/warehouse but lately I'm 75 field due to being short handed. -

What do you eat when you're sick?
highfunctioningfatman replied to rolosmom7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chicken noodle soup but don't eat the noodles. I do however give the noodles to my 4 legged garbage disposal that looks an awful lot like a chocolate lab.
