  1. I've noticed that I feel hungry a lot. I'm 6 month post op RNY. I used to drink a Protein powder with milk and coffee in the morning but I've switched to having an egg with toast or yogurt with fruit, etc. but I've noticed I've been snacking a lot and I'm nervous about my increased appetite. What are some suggestions for foods that keep you feeling full? I actually consumed 1700 calories yesterday vs my average 900-1100 calories. Yikes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Have your thyroid checked (TSH)? I was very tired before I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Medication worked immediately. This was pre surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I am 6 mo post op and I really can't remember my first month other to say it WAS tough. Take it a day at a time. Try to do what you can do as far as Water and Protein. I think I blocked it out of my memory. I'm doing great today and have no regrets on my choice to have surgery (RNY). Good luck, you'll be fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm the same way! I'm dreading winter weather approaching. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm 6 month post op and didn't experience hair loss. Are you deficient in anything? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I've never experienced dumping syndrome. I'm not sure how much one has to eat and most likely varies with each person. I am 6 mos post op RNY. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I have my 6 month post op appointment with my surgeon next Tuesday. Hope to get an answer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. You look great! Especially your arms. My arms aren't fairing as well but I'm older and not planning on showing off arms anytime soon. My niece just told me I need to shop for smaller clothes (my smaller clothes are now too big). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I was taking med for reflux and I continued post op (40mg Prilosec). I think my fast eating is part of the problem... Hopefully it is nothing serious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Gurgling continues. Gas X strips don't work. Now have a burning feeling after eating. I've researched and found several reasons from ulcers to possibly eating too fast. It's more discomfort. I go to surgeon next Tuesday for 6 month post op visit (RNY). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I'm 6 months post op. I always dreamed of what my first real meal would be which was sashimi tuna tartar. My surgeon said it was a perfect meal to have. I would torture myself by watching cooking and food shows and watching my husband cook (he's a great cook). I think I got bored because I wasn't eating. When I was able to start the soft food plan, I just couldn't get much down. I still don't feel terribly hungry but I can eat more and pretty much what I want. It won't be long before everything comes together. Try to be patient. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I experienced very low energy in the first 3 months. I wanted to do things but I simply had no energy. Both my surgeon and primary told me to be patient. I can't remember the exact day but I got my energy back. Just returned from a two week trip to Europe and had energy to walk everywhere. Give it time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Thanks everyone... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Thanks. I never thought about gas. I've been eating a lot of apples, maybe too much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I'm 25 weeks or 6 months post op RNY. I've developed a new sensation in my stomach. It feels like I'm digesting food (gurgling) whether I have just eaten or have an empty stomach. Anyone else experience this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I got migraines post op when the pain meds (narcotics) were wearing off. Haven't had one since. So, headache is different than your migraines? May be dehydration, try drinking a lot of Water to see if it helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I elected to have RNY for the big weight loss and benefits. My surgeon agreed. I am 60 and had a BMI of 48 on a 5'2" frame. I am very pleased with my results. No adverse complications and eating has not been an issue. This is a very doable process but you need to mentally prepare for the choice you make. My main goal is to get fit and healthy. 18. Thanks all. I just missing having a cocktail with everyone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Am on a two week vacation in Europe. Had a first cocktail last night - Campari and tonic. Didn't feel the alcohol but I felt I had a pre-dinner cocktail vs the typical iced tea. Thanks for all your answers. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I'm 19 weeks post op. Some people in my monthly support group meetings have said they've started to drink alcohol about 6-10 months post op. I have absolutely no intensions of doing so but I don't have the guts to ask those people how they feel after drinking. Anyone here started drinking alcohol? 21. @@melbell2222, thanks. I didn't care for the taste of extracts. I use Inspire Caramel Latte mixed with cold decaf and 1% milk for my daily iced latte. I look forward to it. I never liked eating Breakfast in the morning so the drink is perfect. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. What brand of Protein shakes? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I dreamt about eating sushi and sashimi. My surgeon said it was a great choice for my "first" solid food meal. I started with a spicy tuna roll but didn't eat rice. I was able to eat 3 pieces. Now I can eat an entire roll or several pieces of sashimi. There are always risks for eating raw fish regardless. Enjoy it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Protein is key and vegetables have little protein. I was told to start with soft or cooked veggies. I would try to get one spear of asparagus in (so good). V8 was another means for me. Veggies are also good source of carbs. I'm 17 weeks out and I need to stay at only 60g of protein (1g per 1 inch of height). Needed to increase carbs to 100g for energy. I eat lots of fresh summer fruits and veggies. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Totally normal to be anxious! You'll do fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
