  1. I was banded 18 months ago. The positives have definitely outweigh the negatives. I think it is completely understandable to have mixed feelings about any elective surgery. I wouldn't look at your desire to have the surgery done as a failure but as a success...a step or a decision to make a change in your life. You have already admitted you can't lose the weight on your own and the lap band may be the extra help you need and have been looking for.

  2. My weight loss seems to be pretty consistent...a little each day. I have been feeling great and haven't had any problems to speak of. I have begun to introduce new foods into my diet, but haven't had any make me feel nauseous or cause any problems.

Glad to hear everything is going well. Looking forward to hearing about your fill. My appointment isn't until the 23rd.

  3. I don't have my doctor's appointment until April 23. That is when I will get my first fill. I had to change the date for travel purposes. I have to drive 4 hours to see the doctor...so plans are a must. I feel like my retriction isn't as much as it used to be. I think I am restricting myself by keeping the portions small. I did start soft foods over the weekend. They have been going down great.

Let me know how the first fill goes.

  4. thanks darla... i will definitely try those. would also love to know how you jazz up routine Protein shakes. i've added some berries to mine, but i'm getting bored of those too.

sorry to keep complaining, just one of those days. a little boredom is a small price to pay for a healthier future.

    thanks again

Basic shake using vanilla whey Protein powder

  5. One of my favorites...I got it from another post on this site is...

    Lasagna

Layer each of the following so you have about 1/2 cup total:

    low fat/fat free cottage cheese

    low sugar/sugar free spaghetti sauce

    low fat mozerrella cheese

Pop in microwave and cook until melted.

    Almost like Thanksgiving dinner:wink2:

    chicken and potatoes

    Grind up some chicken

    Mix chicken with mashed potatoes.

    MMM....

    A little treat...

Let diet root beer go flat... to get rid of the carbination.

Make a root beer float with sugar free/fat free ice cream.

Did your doctor give you some variations for making your Protein shakes? I have quite a few variations that are yummy. Let me know if you would like them.

Hope these were some new ideas to add to your collection.

  6. Hi all,

I have to say I feel great! I had my surgery on the 3rd and was back to work the next Monday. I was a little worried because I had so much nausea through Saturday before going back to work, but it went fine. I feel better each day. I have to be on pureed foods for another couple of weeks...but I'm not minding it. I have been reading the recipes that have been posted and trying some new things. I don't see my surgeon until the middle of April...so I am just following the guidelines they sent home with me.

I'm glad to hear everyone else is doing great, too.

    Take care...

  7. Hungry4help,

Congrats on walking a mile and a half today. You have inspired me to go for a little walk this afternoon. I will let you know how it goes. I am still struggling with nausea and so am a little hesitant to do too much. I did go to the store today to buy some groceries for the next phase of the diet. It went okay...but I wasn't walking through the store browsing! It was pretty much go in, grab what you need, and get out.

    Chat with you later.

  8. I was banded on Monday at about 1:30. I stayed in the hospital, since I had to travel 4 hours to the hospital that did the procedure. I have been pretty nausiated. It mostly occurs when I go from a sitting to a standing position. I do have some anti-nausea medicine...which helps, but makes me very sleepy:closedeyes: As most of you have mentioned, I am also pretty sore. I just keep telling myself that it will pass.

I have been sipping Isopure (from GNC) throughout the day. I has a lot of Protein, but doesn't taste to great. I am just concerned about getting in enough protein...90 grams...each day. I have also started cream of wheat with whey Protein mixed in and fat free cream Soup...withought any chunks. I'm glad for the change from the high Protein shakes. I also mix Special K protein Water powder into my Water to drink throughout the day. It has 5 grams of protein and tastes great.

I'm glad everyone is doing well. I'm thankful to have this forum to discuss this. Keep up the good work all.:)

  9. Sadie11,

It will be nice to have the support of your partner through the process. My husband wanted to have the procedure done, too. His insurance wouldn't cover it. He is planning on dieting with me and trying to do it without a lapband.

I have been on my liquid diet for almost 2 weeks. I was suppose to do it for two weeks, but I started a couple of days early because I am a teacher and I didn't want to get sick the first day of the liquid diet while I was at school. Anyway, I have alreay lost 15 pounds. The initial weight loss has really got me motivated and ready for March 3!

    Counting down the days!

  10. Hi all,

When I had my nutrition class, the nurse did say we would have to avoid carbonated drinks. She had mentioned letting diet root beer go flat and then drinking that or having a float with sugar free ice cream. She said root beer because there isn't any caffeine. Although she said that caffeine should be avoided, she also said you have to experiment with what can be tolerated.

The nurse did say that beer would be hard to drink...because of the carbonation, but drinks without carbonation would be fine...like vodka and cranberry juice. So social gatherings are still a go!;)

I am starting my second week of my liquid diet. Yes, the weight is falling off, but I miss chewing...I miss texture. I just keep telling myself that it isn't forever and the payoff is worth it.

I had my preop appointment on Thursday. I just had a blood draw for lab work and an EKG. I also got my meds changed to the liquid form.

The time is getting close! I'm getting excited! Hope you are all excited for the big day!

    Chat with you later...

  11. I visited with with dietitian the day I went in for my consultation. It was nice to have all the info up front. Hopefully you feel like you have all the information you need now to feel comfortable.

I need to head out and do some shopping for the chewable Vitamins and Calcium. I was just rereading through the things that I need to have on hand.

Could you tell me how to get my tracker to show up at the bottom of my posts?

    Thanks.
