    I regret this surgery

On Tuesday, I'll be two weeks out from the surgery and my only complaint is that it isn't MORE effective. I can't wait to get to my goal weight.

    The iOS app is awful

Oh! One thing I've just thought of: a vitamin tracker (both taking and supply tracking). It gives us, the end-users, the benefit of an app that tracks our vitamin usage (including when we took our iron vitamin so we can know when it's okay to take our calcium citrate vitamins) and also allows you the benefit of upselling vitamins when we start to run low.

    The iOS app is awful

Alrighty, here are a few more: Apple Health integration: You know, device-specific integration might be delayed for a time if you're using the health database already coded into iOS, Apple Health. It's a great repository of things including weight, steps and even a count of flights of stairs taken. I'm not sure what you could do with that data, but you might think of something. After all, activity is a crucial part of success after bariatric surgery (so everyone involved in this process has told me). Also, in doing so, you would be able to capture the data from those of us who use Apple Watches. WLS Magazine: There's a way to integrate this feature of the site into the app in a way that is more pictorial and attractive. Look at the sidebar on this site. That might be understated for the real estate a desktop/laptop screen might have but it would be perfect for a mobile app. This isn't really an app-specific issue, but more a site-wide issue: If I select to use metric units to note my weigh-ins, why is it that some areas of the site (such as other people's weigh-ins, the sidebar which reads "together we have lost", etc) are also shown in imperial units (lbs)? Also, it does make me wonder if the "together we have lost" bit takes into account those of us who do use metric as the ticker shows this for me: Which is interesting, since I do not weigh 137,5 lbs but I do weigh 137,5 kg (which is roughly 303 lbs). Is that number being lowballed, not including the weight of those of us who use the site in metric? The most important thing is that the app should be an extension of the site and should put your best foot forward. It's an opportunity to have more control over the design and layout of how a mobile user experiences Bariatric Pal. Use it to your advantage. Also, my discount from BA is 15%.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Yeah, I don't think my hunger instinct has returned yet. I weigh myself every day using a wifi scale so that I get a chart of my weight over time. Each weigh-in is a data point and it allows me to understand how I'm doing using the surgery. If I see an upward trend, I know that I need to make changes. Here's a chart of my weigh-ins for the last month (note: the last weigh-in before my surgery date was the 27th of August or 27 août):

One other thing that I've noticed is that you aren't integrating your store into your app, which seems like a missed opportunity. I mean, sure, I'm not going to buy from your store. I get a better deal buying from Bariatric Advantage directly, but somebody might want to buy from your store and it'll also allow you better advertising/monetization opportunities.

    Don't tempt me

Don't get me wrong, McDonald's isn't my thing anyway (even before surgery, I would make jokes about how the "food" at McDonalds was okay for Hindus to eat because it is made from free-range used gym mats and shredded Chinese newspapers) but being on a liquid diet, the temptation to sink my teeth into a beef-flavoured gym mat patty is pretty big.

    I regret this surgery

Agreed, I have this 1,4L Nalgene bottle from before I had my surgery and I notice I can drink only 300-600 ml in one sitting

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Well, every time I tried having that Carnation Instant Breakfast junk to get more protein in, I hurled it so one of the surgeon's nurses recommended that I switch to a protein powder I could mix into water, like Isopure. I don't know how well this is going to work but I bought a small bag at GNC (on clearance) and I'll see how I can tolerate that.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I know that for me personally, it takes a while to drink 300 ml of water, which is about how much I can drink at a time. I also know that those Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks are the one thing I can't tolerate at this point. I can do puréed food and lots of other liquids but Carnation Instant Breakfast, which is recommended by my programme in order to help bump the numbers closer to the nutrients I am supposed to be getting, is something I can't do,
  10. So, I've been burping and farting since I got the surgery and I was wondering, how long do people experience this?

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Well, I would say it's normal. It could be lots of things. Just be sure to keep a food journal (either digital or paper, whatever works for you) and track your results. Make notes of the trends and try out different things. Just make sure you're tracking so that if you decide to seek help from a nurse or a dietician, you've made their job easier to figure out what's going on.

    How much can you eat?

Have you ever taken a class in meditation? It could help build that character of mindfulness.

    I regret this surgery

I know that being transgender, I haven't had any issues but I haven't had my hormone injections since before I went to the hospital. I plan to resume that treatment this week. But I haven't felt any pangs of regret or anything like that.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Maybe so. Using BMI as a range, a healthy weight range for you (assuming an age of 40) is roughly 45.9 kgs - 62.0 kgs and according to you, you're at 112.49 kg, meaning you have about 50.49 kg to go to meet the top of the range for a healthy weight. Whereas, my weight being 139 kg right now and my healthy weight range being 54.7 kgs - 74.0 kgs, I have to lose 65 kg to reach the top range of my healthy weight category. So, you're closer to a finish line than I am!
  15. So, I'm thinking it might be a great idea to integrate Nokia Health (which is formerly Withings) with BariatricPal. Nokia Health produces a number of smart devices including wi-fi scales that automatically synchronize your weight to the cloud. There is documentation for how to use the API on Nokia's website.

How Do I Delete / Close Account

"Virtual kidnapping"? You mean you didn't sign up of your own free will? You were seized in the middle of the night and forced to sign up for BariatricPal against your will? ... Or do you mean you didn't read the terms & conditions and now, you're upset by the very rules you didn't read?

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

What is your starting point that you have "only lost 9 pounds since the surgery" is a bad thing? According to your profile, you had surgery 14 days ago (by my rough count). From my understanding, if you have more to lose, your numbers might be larger. For example, my pre-operative weight was 144.69 kg (319 pounds) fully clothed. Being almost one week out, my current weight is 139 kg (306 pounds) naked. So, I guess the question is, what are your numbers?

    Don't tempt me

Why would you want to? Diet soda is awful! It's better to drink something with some nutritional value, such as chocolate milk or 100% fruit juice.

    How much can you eat?

I'm newly post op and I must say, there is a curve to acclimate my eating habits. For example, I'm looking at a bowl of cream of chicken soup that I will, in all likelihood, have to dump out tonight because I made too much. I could probably work on this for the next day or two.

With the mask thing, are you using a humidifier with your unit? In Colorado, I get a humidifier with my unit by default.

    Don't tempt me

Yeah, that was pretty weird. Like, if you didn't want them, why get so many?
  22. Yeah, I'm noticing that mine isn't as bad either but it is definitely still there.

    Any August 2017 Sleevers?

I know the feeling. On Tuesday, when I woke up in the post-op recovery area (for some reason, they called it PACU), I had a hard time remaining awake, probably due to the anaesthesia they gave me. Fortunately, they didn't need to cath me, which I am eternally grateful for because I've done the catheter thing before and I'm not a fan. That, and the hospital bed was killing my back too. In fact, I notice that I'm experiencing a bit more back pain now than normal, but I think that is due to healing going on around that area. The beds they use are crap and I was so glad to get home where I have a memory foam mattress! I know for a fact that I couldn't lose weight by diet and exercise alone. I've tried all of those things and failed but I think the problem was my weight reached a point where it wasn't possible to do those things well. I think if I can get my weight down, I can abate the sleep apnea and plantar fasciitis and go deeper into my workouts, which will turbocharge my metabolism.
  24. Yeah, I have a nearly full bottle of Tylenol 3 that I left the hospital with and so far, I haven't needed to touch it except for once or twice.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Yeah, my program told me to stay away from steak too. Actually, I was told that I should stay away from beef, veal, and pork. When I met with the nutritionist that works with the programme, she said that it is because it is a very dense protein and even in the "Diet for Life" section, it reads "Slowly advance to tender chicken, turkey, pork and beef".
