  1. I've had to take these many times before, and always come up as INTP. I would take it again from the link provided, but it's a spammy website that's poorly designed (and has popups).

Keep in mind that the Myers-Briggs test is pretty much nonsense, and of no real use. "Most personality psychologists regard the MBTI as little more than an elaborate Chinese fortune cookie..."

  2. It's a shame that so many of the posters have had such poor experiences with support groups.

My surgeon's group has an excellent support structure. Each meeting has a facilitator for each group (the patients are separated by their point in the process) who moves the conversation along and provides insights and suggestions. I've been to six meetings and have gotten a wealth of information from each.

In contrast, while there is a decent amount of good information here in the forums, there's also a ton of whining, self-indulgent attention whoring, and tons of really stupid questions.

Each experience has its plusses and minuses. Take what you need from either, both, or neither, as it suits your needs.

  3. Yes, excellent! I have tried every diet out there too. It stinks to starve all week on Weight Watchers (yes, following the plan is starvation to me right now) and go in to weigh only to find I have lost nothing or very little.

Yeah, the latest version of WW is awful.

They play with the formulas every so often, demonizing one nutrient factor with each version.

I'm stuck following WW until my surgery, but I'm ditching that b***h ASAP.

The current f ood demon for WW is carbs; I had to roll my eyes when the app said I could have bananas for zero points (100 calories or so), but a low-calorie popsicle cost me 4 points (70 calories).

    Absolutely stupid.

  4. The fact that you are eating bread and potatoes gives me pause. You should be eating p rotein, not carbs. And vegetables, after you've eaten your p rotein (if you even have room). Carbs should be at the very bottom of a list of things to eat.

  5. I wish my parents were more supportive...

When I was 19 my doctor suggested it and my mom totally disagreed with him. I was 290lbs then.... Fast forward and I blew up to 420 my highest... Went thru years of depression and anxiety and just hiding I'm my room... Always hungey. I think it made my mom feel better knowing I was heavier than her... Her little confidence booster.

I did lose some weight... 70lbs on my own... But never got under 330lbs with diet and exercise.

At age 32 I started my journey at 370lbs and I'm down to 320lbs so far.

She looks at me with a look in her eyes that screams "who the hell do you think you are" while saying things like, *your not skinny YET? "

My point is, people are people before they are anything to you... And if your intentions are for her betterment then I believe it would be received that way.

You don't have to suggest it... Just take her under you wing as you lose weight yourself. Inspire her to be better and she will.

I wish my parents were more supportive.

Christ, I would have kicked her ass to the curb long ago.

Family is who you choose to have in your life, not those who are there by accident of birth. Your mother is not treating you like family.

  6. Try this, I use this all the time for situations where people comment on things that are really none of their business:

    *look at them, confused*

*when they continue talking, suddenly look like you understand something *

"Ohhhh... I get it, you think I give a s h i t what you think. How silly/egotistical/self-righteous/retarded/stupid (choose insulting word that fits the person) of you!"

    Then laugh and walk away.

  7. My first thought is complications... if something goes wrong in the short term (after MX) you have to deal with a local physician/facility and get them up to speed on you. Will they be able to get medical records from MX? If something was done inappropriately and you find out only afterwards, what is your recourse? Can you sue someone in another country or will they tell you to piss off? If your surgery is botched, will your insurance throw a tizzy to get it fixed; refuse to pay for repair, etc.

    Tons of iffy questions.

  8. Prayer changes things and I just prayed for you and your daughter. I am so sorry all of those things happened to you.

    Prayer does jack and shit.

The OP needs therapy. Go to a therapist and change your life.
