Reason he even told me was because I asked if I could have a straw in the hospital. And the nurse told me I couldn't have it because of my surgery so when my doctor came by I asked him why. Reinventing wow I am so sorry that happened to you. I know how bad it hurts. I have a very hard time walking as well especially if the pill wears off. One day it took me 5 times to step up into the truck I just kept falling back. The vibration of my foot hitting the floor hurts. I am really hoping this is not long term. @@Valentina I feel bad for you. 18 months scares me. I do not like the oxy either the Lyrica is suppose to help the nerves but it only helps take the edge off. Everyone is trying to get me to take medical marijuana but then I will really be high. I am really trying to not take the oxy. Thanks for telling your story. I heard it is common with any surgery. Proud2beme I had gastric bypass not the sleeve. That is interesting about the diabetes. My blood test always came out that I was semi borderline. But I don't have it yet in the hospital twice they gave me insulin. And I told the nurse I'm not diabetic. When I asked the doctor about it he said it was a small amount and the body gets stressed and sugar Rises. So it is strange you said that. Thanks something to look into. Inner surfer When I had an emergency hysterectomy they cut me completely from hip to hip and I had the numbness without the pain for many years. I am glad you don't have really bad pain. Jess9395 Please do what ever you want to do. My doctor is who I will listen to him and my nutritionist. I was just telling the poster what I was told when I had surgery. I agree the article did not say anything about ulcers. But again that is what I was told by my doctor. How far out are they? There exception In everything. If a person sets themselves up to fail they will. Some people love food more than anything else. The straw thing is only about gastric bypass people not the sleeve. I have 2 friends that are married one had the sleeve one had gastric bypass the one with the sleeve can eat small portions of anything and she eats badly like she always did. Her husband trys to do the same and gets so sick. He regrets having gastric bypass because he wants to be able to be able to eat some of his old favorites they both are a year in just since December. She won't even go to the doctor's appointments anymore because she is not following orders and is gaining. He has lost almost 200 pounds. So I guess I was judging the sleeve by them. And they are the reason I decided to have the gastric over the sleeve even though my doctor really wanted to sleeve me. Both will work if you stay dedicated one of my sisters is 15 years out. My sisters had the surgery years ago and Thier faces looked like they lost a lot of weight. But as time went by the skin started to fit the face more like it glued itself back I hope that makes sense. You are lovely now and once everything has time to catch up. Lipstick lady I never ever said tortilla Soup was good for anyone 2 weeks out of surgery I said that is how I lost 40 pounds pre-op and that when I can eat. All those items in my soup I can show you the papers and menu's my nutritionist gave me. And fact you would say that I would in courage a person to eat anything but soft pureed food is just crazy. And I stand by my sleeve comment read all the comments about some of these that can eat chocolate,donuts and cake! Sugar would make a gastric bypass person sick. We can't do sugar. And also read how many go from the sleeve to gastric bypass. That was my point. And my link proved what was needed proved that a gastric bypass person can not drink soda or sip from a straw and it tells why. And I was wrong it is not temporary it is ever. You both are giving them the wrong advice. They can ask Thier doctor or Google it! Please do not miss quote me. I do Intend to go back to my black bean chicken and hominy soup topped with avocado and either raw cabbage shredded or baked tortilla strips (corn not flour) as soon as I am free to eat what I want. Vsgamn2014 funny I felt the same about you. I listen to my doctor it gets air into your pouch. You didn't even have gastric bypass you have the sleeve. And I do know it is easier to cheat on the sleeve not saying you will. I'm not saying you can't use a straw ever but not at the beginning. And I just had surgery and classes so I know more than you think. Anyway. I am answering her question. Please leave me out of your Know it all. Wannabe Dr BS. I was told to eat soft boiled eggs I don't even know what that is. I was told that scrambled eggs wasn't wet enough so I take one egg and 1 tablespoon of cottage cheese the small curds. And scramble it. One of my favorite things to eat besides Soup I have not ate any potatoes I know we're allowed them but it's a carb I just can't do it. I had my surgery April 20th. Yesterday I made a killer chili with a different kind of Beans all dried that I had to make myself and I used chorizo soy for the meat. Everyone loved it. It would be really good and eggs also. I do not eat seafood of any kind. We can also have thin deli meats. I have made homemade cauliflower soup onion,soup tomato soup,and cabbage soup but I love soup only homemade soup. My doctor tells you how much he wants you to lose pre-op if you don't do it you don't get the surgery until you do. He told me that most people do not lose the weight and they don't get the surgery on time. He wanted me to lose 25 pounds gave me four months I lost 40 pounds he was so proud of me he said nobody does that. I got to have my surgery 2 weeks later and I had a few pounds to enjoy all my favorite foods I spent my birthday in the hospital but I got three parties I got to enjoy before surgery.
