    Sleeve vs bypass

I know my surgeon has done gastric bypass for people who have about 75 pounds to lose. I think what it comes down to is your BMI? I was in the same boat as you, was really uncertain which surgery to have, and I found lots of info on here if I searched for things like "RNY or sleeve" "bypass vs. sleeve" "VSG or RNY" , etc. Also found "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" to be a good book as far as going through all the surgeries, don't let the title sway you. 2. I am on day 1 of my pre-op diet, and I was wondering if there's a danger of getting too much Protein? My Protein shakes have 30g, and if I drink 4 then I am already at 120. That does not include any I might get from bone broth, or sugar free pudding made with milk, etc. Is there a high end protein limit I should avoid? Thanks, I really appreciate it. 5. I think you hit it dead on....they have less unchanneled anger, frustration, and pain. And they don't have to use their wit and sparkle to gain even a base level of societal acceptance anymore. They are accepted as is. On another note..... I think it is very unlikely that you would be able to be anything except witty, funny, and engaging post-op, based on all the lively spirit that came through in your post. 10. Wow, trying to blame your surgeon BC you COULD disobey your post-op diet rules? If something goes wrong now, this is NOT your surgeon's fault. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  17. You do realize that when you post on here you are essentially asking for thoughts and feedback, right? If you don't want thoughts and feedback, then post the picture on Pinterest. NO ONE was even remotely trying to be offensive or insensitive to you. At all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. It looks like you're a great planner, kudos to that. And I'll chalk up your sensitivity to other opinions to be just a side effect of the pre-op diet. Good luck, I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  20. DAY 4!!! Oh, it finally got easier.....thank goodness!! No more wanting to gnaw on the furniture. Days 2 and 3 were awful, thank goodness for broth. Surgeon doesn't require a 2 week pre-op but I decided to do one to take off a small chunk of weight before surgery August 18th. I figure the first 15 pounds are always easy for me to lose, it's the next phase that's hard, so I'll just start my weight loss surgery journey at the hard part. Any weight I lose now is weight I won't have to lose post-op. 3 Protein shakes a day, plus a small high protein, low carb dinner. And so much Water. Next week I will probably drop the dinners for another Protein shake. How are other folks doing with their pre-op diets? Was Day 4 the magic day for you, too? Struggling with food

Therapy could be a real help. But if you're "too smart for your own good" still, you might not want to admit you need help. Still, I think last night is a really clear sign that it might be time to consider learning more from a professional. I hope you do. There's just something in the tone of your post that makes me think you are someone who is actually really hard on yourself. I'm picking up a lot of angry self-talk between the lines. Reach out for help, try to understand the why and not just the what, in terms of your behavior. You can't beat yourself up to a better life. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
