    Wedding ring too loose

Maybe when you hit goal you will be due for an "upgrade"..... Then retire your old band to family heirloom status to be worn by family in the future. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Quitting caffeine

Step down slowly, worked for me. First do 2-3 days with 1 1/2 cups regular, 1/2 cup decaf in morning, then go 1 cup regular, 1 cup decaf for 2-3 days, then 1/2 cup regular and 1 1/2 cups decaf for 4-5 days, then you should be nearly free. Diet Coke.....can't help you there, never was a soda drinker. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. There's no way it would be safe for you to return to work 48 hours after this surgery. You'll still have anesthesia in your system! You can't drive. Does your doctor agree with you going back to work this fast? I fear you are going to seriously complicate your recovery, you are giving yourself zero chance to heal from major surgery. Please reconsider. Call in sick and take unpaid sick leave if you have to. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Baby food

No, it isn't "just" pureed food. It's a scourge. It should be declared unconstitutional. Anyone who feeds that swill to babies should be punished by having to eat it. Some of the fruits are okay, though. Nothing else. Yikes. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Premier Protein

You are correct....Sam's sells 12 to a box. I checked to be sure. Not a good deal compared to costco, with or without coupon. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    10 Months Post Op Update

You look like a ray of sunshine! And how fantastic that the journey spurred you on to a career as well. I am having my RNY on August 18, and will think of you and your wonderful progress as I move through the next year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Ok, I have been reading for months, been to support meetings, on forums, and I can't understand one specific thing about hunger post-op. I hear both RNY and sleeve patients claim little to no hunger immediately post-op and through the honeymoon period. For the sleeve patients, it's bc they've removed a large portion of the stomach where ghrelin (hunger hormone) is produced. Makes sense. But then why do RNY patients feel no hunger, when that hormone-producing part of the stomach DOES remain in their body, creating hormones and digestive acids and sending them down the roux limb into the intestines to meet up with food that comes from the pouch. And I have heard that RNY patients have hunger return after the honeymoon period.....does hunger also return to sleeve patients? If so, where is the hunger hormone coming from with the sleeve patients, since most of the hormone-producing stomach has been removed? Thx! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  14. @@Cervidae : I really appreciate your thoughtful and well reasoned contributions here, you are a real fountain of knowledge and very generous sharing your experience. I was wondering if you ever considered sleeve over RNY? And if you did, what made you choose RNY over sleeve? It seems that there are people here who lose large amounts with either operation, and as I near my surgery date and decision, I'd love to know your thoughts. FYI, my BMI is 49 and I am 49 years old. 15. My RNY date is 3 weeks away, and I'd like to do my shopping for the immediate post op period now, get reasonably stocked up. Here's what I have purchased so far: Plenty of Premier Protein shakes GENEPRO Protein powder Bone broth (more protein than regular broth) sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding packets Tiny medicine cups for drinking Sugar free beverage mixes w stevia I plan on getting a case or 2 of Water (my tap water is awful), some coconut water for variety, sugar free Popsicles. What else do you recommend? Keep in mind that I will be recovering alone mostly, I won't have someone on hand who can run out and grab something I might need. I'd really like to be stocked up in case. And what's the brand of that clear fruit flavored protein drink that people love? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    August Bypass Buddies?

@dpressleymsn: I haven't started my liquid diet yet, but I feel your pain on the caffeine. I started about 3 weeks ago, and doing 1/2 caffeine, 1/2 decaf for a few days definitely helped. Maybe try that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Does anyone regret their surgery?

Well....do you want someone else to receive the type of care you received from these doctors? Here's the other thing about compensation from a lawsuit: having to pay financial damages shines a light on issues that other prospective patients should be aware of, and hopefully the slap on the wrist financially would cause the provider and/or NHS to change some aspects of their pre, during, and post op procedures. Do nothing, don't complain, don't boldly call them out on your horrible experience with these providers, and they will go on as if nothing happened. And other people will fall victim as you have. My husband is British, too, has lived in the US for almost 50 years now....this is NOT the time for a stiff upper lip. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    ADVICE PLEASE HELP!

Giving up things post surgery will likely be very hard, I agree. But have you ever given real serious thought to all the things you unknowingly "gave up" because of your weight? I can't speak for you, but as for me, my weight caused me to GIVE UP: Feeling self confident Being seen in a bathing suit in public Participating in a real beach vacation with my family....my children are now 23 and 20, it's too late to ever get that back Feeling confident and really "seen" when meeting new people Applying for jobs I was intellectually and professionally ready for, but for which I did not look the part Trying skiing, snowboarding, white Water rafting with my family Feeling fully confident in intimate relations I lost out on all these things, that's what being morbidly obese forced me to "give up." And now, I've decided I would INSTEAD rather give up all those foods that diminished my enjoyment of my life. So.....choose what you are willing to give up.
