  1. As discouraging as slow weight loss is, this thread actually encouraged me. I'm 3 months out and have lost 24 pounds since surgery. I lost 14 pounds pre op so it's a total of 38. Almost all of the 24 pounds was lost the first 2 months and this last 4-5 weeks I've fluctuated the same 5 pounds. I was convinced I was doing something wrong and not going to lose anymore weight. I'm hoping my body decides to start letting go of some more weight soon!

  2. It's so frustrating. I've lost 24 pounds and I'm 3 months post op (38 if you count pre- op, which I don't) 16 pounds month 1, 6 pounds month 2, and it's fluctuated the same 5 pounds this last month. I want to give up but I just keep hoping my body will adjust and decide to start letting go. My dr did recently up my thyroid dose so I'm hoping that will help too. It can be so discouraging.

  3. I had lost 17 pounds in 12 weeks (also following my plan perfectly) I'm now sitting 12 pounds below goal and have been for over 1 1/2 years. The rate that you lose has absolutely nothing to do with your ultimate success. Just stick on plan, sit back and enjoy the NSVs. And stay off the scale if it upsets you so much.

Thank you for this, it's encouraging...

  4. OMG. Seriously???? Try following the diet perfectly, getting all your Water and Protein goals in and only losing 13 lbs in 5 (FIVE) weeks. That's me. I'm so depressed. Something must be wrong with my sleeve.

I could have written this exact post. I've lost 13 pounds too. It's so frustrating but I've discovered I can't compare myself to anyone else and if I'm doing everything right the weight will eventually come off.

  5. I was sleeved 5-17 and I've lost almost 13 pounds in 2 weeks (12.7). I lost 12 pounds on the pre-op diet so it's a total of 24.7 pounds in 24 days, that's a pound a day. My scale has been fluctuating 2-3 pounds the last few days which is frustrating but I just try and remind myself that this is an amazing rate and I can't be greedy or rush things. I think 17 pounds is fantastic! Just keep moving forward. :)

  6. I don't know what I was thinking. My hands were full of a bunch of small things, nothing heavy. My stairs are circular and the last 5-6 at the bottom are more narrow toward the railing. I know this! I know to stay by the wall so you have more foot room but I just wasn't paying attention and my foot slipped and down I went. Did I mention one of the things was a Protein Shake? All over me, the walls, the stairs...ugh. It didn't immediately hurt it was just more of a startle but I'm starting to feel a little sore now. Hopefully nothing is hurt and I'll just be sore for a few days. I'm wondering if I should take some tylenol just in case, to kind of stay ahead of any pain? Thoughts?

  7. I was sleeved on May 17th. Everything went great, up and walking a few hours after surgery, the pain was manageable and mostly around my incisions. Lately, my incisions don't hurt, they just itch but I have a kinda gnawing/nagging pain right around my belly button, maybe a little higher. It is definitely an internal pain and I can't really describe it. It's somewhere between super sore ab muscles and menstrual cramps. It's pretty constant unless I'm laying down or completely still. Im wondering if it's just the soreness/healing of the staple line? I'm not taking any pain meds for it but it's getting old!

Anyone else experience this? When can I hope to feel better?

  8. I'm scheduled for surgery a week from today.

I haven't always been overweight/obese, I used to run, play softball, lift weights, etc... I really feel like I know a lot about nutrition, proteins/carbs, calories in vs. calories out, whole foods vs processed foods.

What I still need help with is how to combat emotional eating. I know what I need to do but I just can't seem to always do it. I've read several books but am still looking to conquer this demon. Has anyone read any books they'd recommend?
