Thank you so much, this is really helpfulI have BCBS FEP and I heard within 5 days of submission that I had been approved. I had surgery at a Center of Excellence. I already met my deductible also. Once I got approval I talked with someone at BCBS customer service and they confirmed what I would have to pay up front upon admittance on surgery day. Part of my pre-surgery brief a coordinator from the hospital called to confirm what I had to pay.

Hello, so today my paperwork was sent to insurance!! Yay!!
I do have some questions for people with the same insurance:
How long was your wait for approval? Did you have any problems? Also I have met my deductible and I'm in TX, does anyone know how much the cost of surgery was? If you have any more information to share please do.

My doctor told me something completely different. Also I am only 22 years old and I asked about having children later on. He told me that it would be fine, that they would be healthier. Also he had preformed rny on his daughter and she had been already 4 years post op, and she was currently pregnant with her 2nd child. So I don't think your doctor has the right information. Best of luck!I am doing some research prior to WLS. I went into my consultation thinking that RNY was the best surgery for me. My doctor did not have anything positive to say about it for someone my age and eagerness to have a family. I will be 29 next month and have no children. She stated that with the RYN, it would be very difficult to provide enough nutrients to have viable pregnancies. She also mentioned lifelong nutrient deficiencies. Has anyone had a doctor okay RNY at a young age and do you regret the more extreme surgery? Thanks in advance!
