    Would Love Feedback, Thanks!

jomarie - i think you should go with your gut. i had a bad feeling about my first consult, and procrastinated for over a year after that because i didn't want to start over again. be proud of yourself for taking care of yourself and find a doc you are comfortable with. where are you located? maybe you could post in your state's section and get some feedback. i wish you the very best!

    at my wits end

hi teddy...i wish i could help you, but i was only banded on friday, so all i can say is i know what it is like to be uncomfortable and i really feel for you. i am sure someone else will be along with advice...just know i care.
  6. :smile2: Help! I was banded 5/23, and my surgeon says - - two weeks Clear Liquids, then - two weeks full liquids, then - weeks 5 - 9 mushies I know I need to do what he says, but was/is anyone's surgeon this strict about moving to soft foods? I didn't have a pre-op diet, just clear liquids the day before. Every post I have seen has people moving to food faster than this. Thanks so much! I love this place!

Is anyone's surgeon this strict with post-op eating plan???

Thanks, Can Hardly Wait! I think when I get to full liquids I will do better. I don't even feel hungry, just in the mood to eat, KWIM?

    Can ANYONE eat pasta post-banding???

Thank you so much to everyone for responding. I cannot wait to feel like food is not as important as it once was, and hope I can make good choices. For some reason, this is my one food that I think about. I think I am just obsessing, too, because I still have 3.5 weeks of liquids left to go and I can't stop thinking about food, though I can't even say that I am technically hungry. You are all doing so well and I am proud to count you among my board friends (and heroes). Thanks again!!!

    Three years...and starting over.

hi ts - you can do this! my sister was one of the first bandsters ever, and it took her years of ups and downs, but she is now a size 4 from a size 20 and maintaining. this is a journey, and you can keep starting over. she did, many times, and finally got it. (i just got banded on friday, so can't talk much from experience) i wish you all the luck in the world!!!

    Pulling a Star Jones...?

i don't think it's strange at all...my sister has hardly told a soul. i just had mine done friday and i tell almost everyone in my personal life, but not in my work life. i don't see that it is anyone's business unless you choose to share it, and families can be critical. do what you think is best for you!
  14. Hi all! I am new here and have an important question. I apologize if it is TMI but I am desperate. I have my first appt. with a band doc in April, but have been having severe bouts of dysfunctional uterine bleeding with no underlying issues identified (no cysts, polyps, hyperplasia, etc.). My current gyn is concerned about doing a hysterectomy because I carry most of my weight in my stomach and she would have to cut deep -- since I am diabetic, she is very concerned with healing issues and the risk of infection. Since the cause of this is probably an overproduction of estrogen cause by excess weight (bmi 48), I have been told that this MIGHT be improved or even cured with weight loss. I am trying to decide if I should wait or move ahead with a specialist. I am on double doses of birth control to stop the bleeding right now (have had 3 d&c's, etc.) but I cannot stay on it forever and am still having breakthrough bleeding. Please, please, please...if anyone knows anything about this, can you share it with me? Thank you so much. I look forward to being a part of this board!!! Karen

    found out bcbs michigan

Oh no! I am so sorry. I have BCBS Michigan and was told I would be approved right away, but I don't have my appt. until April 3. What is your BMI? Mine is 48. I wish you much luck! The Michigan board here is great, too! Maybe someone there can help.
