  1. Heyyyy,

I live in Vancouver and I am also on the same track, the time will go by quickly. I should be done with all of Molinas requirements at the end of this month, I thought that because I'd be done with all of my appointments at the end of November, that I'd be able to have surgery in December and boy was I wrong...

UW has their own set of requirements and expectations, I had my first appointment there on October 19th and I was told that I have to have an appointment with their social worker, one with a physical therapist of theirs, an appointment with the nutrionist, as well as labs done by my primary care physician and a upper endoscopy.

They said even if all of my requirements are done, the surgon is booked out a few months, so this is indeed a long process. I just started my journey in June, so I'm just trying to be as proactive and positive as possible.

I have learned so much in the last 5 months! I'm so excited to have surgery! I will be having my RNY at UW in Seattle! Good luck with everything! ☺

Thank you! ☺ It's so exciting, isn't it?! I have to lose around 20lbs as well. Now that it's been raining, I've been working out in the garage. Good luck to you as well. When is your surgery date?

  3. Hi all!! I'm new here and have my surgery set for 12/6/16...I was scheduled to have it last year but decided not to at the last minute. This year though, I'm doing it. My husband and I both smoke and I'm having a really hard time quitting. I still have 3 weeks prior to my absolute MUST QUIT date of 11/8/16. But I want to quit sooner so I'm not waiting down to the last minute and screwing things up for my surgery.

    Any ideas??

I quit smoking after 12 years by switching to vaping. I ended up buying a bottle of nicotine free menthol vape juice and wow, finally smoke free. I wish I would have done it sooner. My surgery isn't for another 3 to 6 months, but I'm glad I quit early. Tomorrow will mark 18 days of being a nonsmoker. I wish you the very best. Quitting is tough, but vaping really takes the edge off!

  4. Hello WLS Buddies and Pals,

Just got scheduled (November 1st) for my surgical assessment. I've heard a little bit about the process, but I'd love to hear from others who have gone through the process for WLS at this hospital.

Just wondering what I should expect over the next few months.

I will be finished with all of my insurance requirements in December, but the hospital says they have their own set of requirements and expectations that I need to complete.

    Thanks! ☺

  5. Hi All,

I'm doing well ???? been up for a shower, walking around the ward.

Had 3 small spoonfuls of yogurt. Siping Water. Tried peppermint tea for gas. But I'm burping. Woke up from theater well, I was able to do mindfulness and the nurses helped me stay present. Emotionally I'm so happy with my choice, feeling in control.

Feeling very sore, and nausea comes and goes. My stomach muscles hurt! But it's so worth it!!

Thanks for all the kind words xx I'll keep posting.

Yay! Thank you for updating us! Any advice for us who are post-op? Is there anything we should know to pack in our bag? ☺

  6. You can also order online from the store that I go to here in Vancouver, Washington. Fusevapor.com they can make custom flavors and offer free shipping if you order 2 or more items. I was browsing the website last night and seen that they also have a 25% off coupon code right now! Hopefully you're able to find something that works for you! Today is day 9 of being smoke free for me! I feel better and smell better lol! Good luck!

  7. So if I don't smoke in the next week your saying? I do have Chantix but I end up vomiting

I started vaping and I'm glad I did! Quitting is never easy, this takes the edge off. Chantix makes me sick also. I wish you the best! The vapor tastes so clean and there are so many flavors! Just make sure you get a zero nicotine juice, if you decide to go this route! I was a smoker for 15 years, glad to be free of the dirty habit!

  8. Start with meeting with your primary care physician and let the doctor know that you have tried losing weight, but you're now interested in weightloss surgery. They will need to send the request to your insurance. Your insurance should then approve or deny the request. You should call them to see what requirements need to be met. Every insurance company has different requirements set for bariatric surgery. Good luck to you! ????

  9. I had at least 2 Protein Shakes a day and either steak or chicken and veggies for dinner. List 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I remember the nurse calling and saying no surgery till you loose 10 pounds, you would have swore she said I had to loose 100. Surgery set for the 24th

Weren't you hungry? I know this is do-able, what did you do when you were hungry? I have to have at least 1200 calories, just incorporating more physical activity in my day. 4 months until surgery! [emoji15] I have to lose 27lbs and I've been struggling!

  10. Please help! I am going nuts trying to find a therapist who is familiar or experienced with bariatric surgery patients. I have Molina insurance and I am really having a hard time finding someone. I have started seeing a therapist and she has no game plan. She is no help and I feel really let down when I see her. There has to be someone in or around Vancouver Washington who is knowledgeable and accepts my insurance.

Anyone out there know of someone? I would appreciate any refferals as Molina has not proven to be helpful either. I was on the phone all day calling various offices and Molina. I'll be back at it tomorrow!

I should be having surgery in December if all works in my favor! I'm on my 3rd round of appointments. Approved for stage 2 in June!

    Thank you!

  11. Are going to be getting it done at UW?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes I am and I'm happy about it. I have heard rave reviews about UW and the care that people got while there. I live in Vancouver, so it's going to be a bit of a drive, but I love Seattle, so I'll probably go up a day early just relax before the big day! If all goes well it will be December! What a way to kick off 2017!!!
