    Constipated. What the heck.

Hello there fellow constipaters. I am 2.5 months post op and my regular is once per every 7-14 days. I have tried everything and recently the only thing that helps is " Magic Cleanse" a natural colon cleanser. It was to the point and pain of using suppository, lube, gloves etc it was awful. Unfortunately, constipation is my new normal.

    When did the "tired" stop?

I recommend asking for labs drawn to check vitamin and thyroid. I am 2.5 months post op and have awful uncontrollable fatigue toward afternoons and found out I was severely deficient even while on vits daily. If you don't take enough protein and fluids in especially in this heat you will have the same issue. Good luck.
  3. Hello everyone! I am 2 months post op and down 48 pounds and to start I am NOT pregnant, but throwing up every morning the second I eat or drink anything I get a wave of extreme nausea and sometimes it goes through the afternoon. My surgeon just prescribed me an antacid to hopefully help, but its so bad to the point I was living off of Zofran. Has anyone went through something similar and what helped? Thank you!!
  4. Hello everyone! I was sleeved on 5/26 and I lost 31 pounds so far and most of it was lost within the first few weeks. I have been loosing 2 pounds here and there, but It has been stalled for 2 weeks or more. What should I do? My NUT said I was eating fine and I am trying to add more exercise on top of working 3 jobs to shock my system. Any ideas?? Thank you!

Having a hard time sticking to my diet

Hello there! Prior to surgery I slipped up a couple times and I have thyroid health issues so loosing on my own was rough. They normally like to see you loose 10-20 pounds pre op. I found it easier to plan 4-6 small meals daily the day before and I am always on the go some brought a lunch bag with me and grazed all day and that keeps your metabolism going. Increase exercise even if you walk for 20-30mins after dinner or before breakfast. Cut out all starches, my dinner consisted of a protein the Size of my palm and a cup of veggies or salad. No soda or high sugared drinks or foods. Good luck!
  7. Hello there!! I feel your pain I am in the same boat... I was sleeved 5/26 so about 1 month post op and I lost 22 pounds first week and a half and then a 2.5 week stall. I sought out advice here because surgeon said the same, so I recently increased my Protein and Clear Liquids, added a colace stool softener everyday( i go only every 10-12 days the constipation sucks) and when I sit for a meal I only eat my protein and 20 mins later if still hungry I eat my veggies or fruit. My NUT approved oatmeal and cereals at stage 5 but I cut 90% of CARBS and within the last week I am slowly loosing again. Oh, and I try to walk a lot more daily as well. Stalls are normal and my surgeon told me to weigh in biweekly and stay off the scale lol.. Good luck!
  8. I am one month post op today and haven't lost a pound since week 2 and haven't changed anything. How do I break this stall? My plan says an ordinary Breakfast should consist of an egg, 1 piece of toast or 1/2 cup of oatmeal, some fruit, BUT I am lucky to get the egg or 1/2 cup of Cereal or oatmeal. I am on stage 5 and allowed mostly everything but limited bread, Pasta, rice and coffee. At this stage what do you guys eat and how much each meal? Could the fact I am having a hard time getting my 70 grams of Protein per day contributing to my stall? Thank you.

    So many questions

My surgery took 45 minutes with one night stay. Insurance approval is different for everyone. The education seminars, nutrition apps, and psychiatrist clearance usually takes 6 months. Hope this helps.

    Questions-14 days post op

Ok thank you very much I had my post op and she said 1/4 cup to 1 cup each meal 3-6 times per day. MOM finally worked today thank god.
  12. Hi, everyone! I am 14 days post op and started stage 4 today introducing puréed foods. I have lost 16 pounds since surgery, but the scale hasn't moved in 3 days, and I honestly don't have the feeling of needing to go. I haven't been able to use the bathroom in 10 days and have been taking senna and Fiber stuff the last 4 days. Is this normal or what should I eat or take to help me? Sometimes I feel I am eating to much, most of the time I get half a cup or so in of something and it sits in my throat for 30mins is that the full feeling people have mentioned? I can eat yogurt, applesauce, oatmeal and I can easily eat the entire yogurt and not feel wicked full. Just making sure I am on the right track, thanks in advance for responses.

Why the heck do I feel hungry?

I'm 14 days post op and I had the same hunger feelings. I started taking prilosec and it greatly helped most of it was stomach acid. Good luck!
  14. Hi everyone, I am counting down the days to a new me on May 26th! I wasn't nervous until anesthesia told me I may wake up from surgery with a bad sore throat and unable to speak for a few hours because of the 2 tubes they put in your throat, the first to intubate and the second the camera to blow up your stomach with air to check for leaks before recovery.. did anyone wake up with a severe sore throat? Second, I have been shopping for high Protein and low calorie foods. For continued success after surgery and the healing process do you recommend any tasty high protein/low cal foods to help take the weight off and fill you up? Does anyone have advice or recipes to make it through the puréed food stage, it just sounds gross to me I am awful with textures? Lastly, my biggest fear is taking 3/4 of my excess weight off and either stop loosing or starting to gain again, any pointers to get to the goal weight? Thank you very much!
  15. So I knew the healing process would not be fun.. I am in tons of pain I ended up with 4 laparoscopic holes and 1- 3 inch incision. I am not able to tolerate premier Protein it feels stuck on top of all the pills I have to swallow and these Tylenol seem quite large. Did anyone leave with a deformed stomach and I hope it goes down? Will I be ok taking in around 30-90cc of Clear liquids every hour or so and ill try protein again tomorrow. Thank you.
  16. Well today is a little better I am drinking Tylenol and I have 2 mg dilaudid as needed every 4-6 hours which I feel does nothing. I let ice melt in protein drink and got an hour of sips in and back to diet Snapple. My stomach feels like its growling is that normal already? I would never eat but I cant tell if maybe its gurgling from gas even though I took 2 doses of gas x.

    Withdrawals [emoji15]

Percocet is considered an upper and fills receptors in your brain to make u happy. Actual withdrawals would be diarrhea, watery eyes, yawning, helplessness etc. It is hard to be addicted to them over a two week span it normally entails long term use. Speak to your doctor and hope for the best but I would stop taking them.
  18. Hi everyone! So I work in homecare and also go to nursing school and I currently care for 3 clients and work about 55-68 hours per week due to my husband being disabled and I have two young children to support. Doc says I shouldn't go back for about 3-4 weeks but financially I can only take two weeks off and that even seems like a lot. Two clients are more independent than the third, but the third is about 200lbs and a slide board transfer therefore pretty strenuous position. When did you guys feel comfortable going back and have you been in this predicament? Surgery next Thursday, can't wait.. Thank you!!

    Need some support

Congrats on making the decision to get surgery and making a healthy life change. My mom is my primary support because she had the gastric bypass about 5 years ago and lost over 400 lbs. My husband supports me most days and he is heavy and feels I will leave him but I am not that type of person so everyone has differently levels of support, but ultimately it's something you need to do for yourself to be happy and healthy.
  20. Stress :-/ thank you guys for the advice.. just sucks being in my situation I hope work is understanding..

    pre op questions

Normally 6 months, psych clearance, support groups, nutrition appts, insurance approval, and I had to loose a min. Of 10 lbs on my own before my insurance would cover my surgery.

    TMI: My first BM

I am so glad to shared because that was one of my biggest fears with chronic constipation to begin with... OMG you made my day :-)
  23. Life always throws us a curve ball but I am glad to hear surgery went well and I hope you get on track and I wish the best for you.
  24. Hi everyone! My name is Emily age 25, mother of two boys youngest age 2. I am scheduled for the sleeve surgery on May 26th and can't wait. I have heard many myths and unsure what is true, after I loose a lot of weight will my Mirena IUD be just as effective? I was told that after the first year weight loss slows down a lot, what should I do if that happens or what have you done to continue taking weight off after year one? I am starting to buy Protein drinks, I hate the chalky taste but love chocolate, what are the best protein powders or shakes out there and where can I get the best deal financially? Thank you for any advice!
