  1. Hi everyone,

I don't post much on the site, but I need to vent and rant for just a second. I'm devastated because I finally worked up the nerves to ask this cute guy at work if he wanted to go to lunch, and he replied that today wouldn't work because he was really busy. I know there's an upgrade going on this weekend, so he was legitimately busy, but this is what gets me. He didn't say "maybe some other time" or "I'll take a raincheck" or anything like that. Simply "Sorry, today won't work". Am I over-reacting? I feel like such an idiot for even asking.

I should have prefaced this with we don't really work together. We used to be on the same team, but I just got moved to a different floor because my work is more suited to another team.

In my mind, his reply pretty much equals flat-out rejection because if he were remotely interested he would have offered some sort of alternative. And to make it less awkward, I told him if he could feel free to invite anyone else who may have wanted to tag along.

Help me with this!! I don't want to be a basket case or drama queen, but I'm 33 and SO lonely. When I finally decide to be a little more assertive in going after I want, this is what I get. I don't have a lot of friends, and I don't know where to go to even find potentials.

What are your thoughts? I feel like such a high-schooler with a stupid teenage crush, and I have no idea where to go from here.

    Thanks for listening!

PS - one small "victory" is that even though I feel like crap, I haven't turned to food for comfort!!

Hang in there when its right you will know it.And,for the record I would love to take you to lunch and I would even pay,how 'bout that? But, as Im 1300 miles away and almost twice your age,I guess You will have to continue the search, something will happen I promise.

  2. You sound just like me.Fit in youth, started smoking, finally quit after 27 years and gained 135 pounds. The only difference I waited til I was 59 to have the surgery.I had mine on Jan.21 2008 @334 pounds and a BMI of 49 Now,28 months later I am 200 pounds and a BMI of 30.It will work for you if you work with it.Hopefully your weigh will come off faster than mine did.Best of luck to you.

  3. My wife was beside herself with joy when she thought I would have to quit drinking beer. She even mentioned it in front of the doctor."well,I guess now you will have to quit drinking beer."The doctor looked at her and said"Why,as long as he drinks light beer hes only getting 100 cals.and 5gr carbs. so,dont have that 400 cal.hamburger and you can have 4 beers."Ruined her whole day.

  4. I had to do the six month Dr. supervised diet.On my first visit I asked what kind of diet I would be on and the Dr. said,"Diet? there aint no diet.If you lose weight on the diet they may not approve you.Just let me do the documentation and you will be approved,Ive done this many times in the past."He was right.I finished the six months in Sept.2007 and was approved in Nov. and had my band on Jan.21 2008.

  5. Would have been back after 3 weeks but could not clear the physical due to a high heart rate which required an extra 2 weeks.I had just gotten new bunker gear measured for a 340 pound guy,now at 210 it looks like I could get in them twice.Chiefs gonna throw a fit when I ask for new ones but im gonna wait until I see where I level off.Boots and helmet still fit, gloves are too big, never knew you lost weight in your hands.

  6. Same thing happened to me,only I went from banding on Monday until finally being admitted to the hospital on Thursday night.Went without antything from thursday night until Sunday morning when I returned to surgery and had the 10cc band replaced with a 14cc.I would have probably tried to tough it out to except for the fact that my daughter is an RN and she reconized the signs of severe dehydration and took ne to the ER where IV fluids were started.Weight loss was not a problemI lost 18 pounds the first 13 days.

  7. He did mine on Jan 21,2008.very nice guy and a very good surgeon.Office staff extremely careing and helpful.Had to have the surgery twice. The first band was defective and had the band replaced six days later.Try getting a surgeon to he hospital on a Sunday morning. There are very few that would do it.Have lost 105 pounds under his care and have 8.5cc in a 14 cc band. Not very aggressive with fills which ,in my mind is a good thing.

  8. My wife was overjoyed that this surgery would make me stop having a few beers. She made that statement in front of the surgeon snd he said "why would he have to stop drinking beer".He proceded to say from that light beer has 100 calories and 5 grams of carbs and that if I forego that 400 calorie hamburger there was no reason that I couldnt have a couple of beers occasionally. So, it varies from Dr. to Dr. just as so many other things associated with this surgery does.He never mentioned anything about pouch streching or other associated band problems. But,this as well as eating should be done in moderation. After all,we have all been told that this is a lifestyle change.

  9. gingerbug. The banana is hilarious!!! Perfect. Too cute.

Sorry Ksill18..... No pics. I may have on Victoria's Secret, but I'm still 49. Not sure it would really "do it for you".....I can't compete with the youngsters.

49 just right, does it for me who would be interested in someone that is younger than your kids.
