Hi Lisa. I didn't have trouble replying yesterday but we'll see when I post this one. We had a good and informative meeting last night. Amy talked about the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates, how to get them, to do's and not to do's. We did not get a hand out like usual but Deb ask Amy to post it on the website. She said she will, so just go to noscales.com (I am assuming) and watch for it to appear. We also had a speaker. A former lapband buddy. She is fours out and lost 130 pounds. She is wearing a size 7 jean. Looked wonderful. I will be happy to get to one twice that! LOL Okay Teresa, we're on! Maybe that's what I need a little challenge to get me moving.lol. Lo2us showed me one of those tube protein things that she got a Joe Smoothie's. It said Whey-protein on it and and I believe it had 43 gm of protein. She divides hers into two servings. So that is $2 a serving. I think they would be good for those days that you aren't sure about your protein, or when you know you are short on protein. Everyone doesn't like cottage cheese, but for those who do, the lowfat has 13g of protein for 1/2 cup serving, and 80 calories. I am sure brands may vary a little, just check the lable. If I skip meat, which I often do, I will eat a serving of that to help with the protein for my meal. I have been getting hungry before my next meal time so I am going to make a concious effort to increase my protein. I am sure foods are the best way to get your protein but so many have hectic schedules, or short lunch times, like teachers ect. Supplement proteins sure come in handy especially when you only have fifteen minutes to wolf down lunch....and we can't be WOLFING our food down! Plain, any doubts, call Amy or email her. Were you at the meeting last night? I believe the docs have those tubes in the e-store. Lisa won one at her meeting one time. I think theirs are 25g of protein. Maybe she will even post to this site about them, if not you can fill us in on what she says to you. When are you going to post a ticker lol. we are nosy. lol Take care.

WooHoo on the eliptical Lo2us!! When you look back one year there is a world of difference, huh? Just to have the energy to go that long, it's wonderful. So proud of you and for you. Are you going to the meeting tomorrow night (Mon.) ? I am going to try my best to be there. As far as I know, I will be there. Mil is still not feeling up to par, that would be the only thing. Thanks for the info on the protein atuff. Do you get the bars at Joe Smoothie too? (Pure Protein). Hope to see you tomorrow night. SUPPORT GROUP MEETING MON. APR. 14TH WADLEY 7 P.M.

lo2us, how much protein do the eas drinks have? You got the test tube things at Joe Smoothies? How much are they there, and where is that place. So I guess that means they have 50 grams of protein. Lisa said the other had 25. How expensive are they? Sorry so many questions, I am looking for the protein for myself now and my son. I eat cottage chees, cheese, beans, and some milk. So I think I do pretty well in the protein department but still feel some days I may need to fill in. How many grams are we supposed to get in a day? I have forgotton. How's Gus feeling?

Teresa you are still doing good. I am a lot farther out than you and have loss less. I have passed a year now. I guess you need to start drinking after your meal (one hour) and drink til the next meal. Tha't about all you can do since you have such a difficult schedule. I am not a drinker period, very hard for me to even think about drinking. I guess we will have to concentrate more on the drink thing. Just keep at it, your weight loss may slow down but just keep trudging along it will come off. Hang in there.

hey Lisa, I didn't get to see that on my tickers but I bet everyone who did thought What the heck?!? Good to hear from you Vlynn. How are your girls doing? Have really missed you, glad to see you are back. Lisa I am a member of the slow losers club for sure. You can tell by my ticker. Heck, fifteen or 17 lbs. of that was pre-op. If I could only make myself do that again. Can't hardly stand the SF. What are those protein things you and Lo2 talk about. Shooters? or is it tubes? How much protein and where do you get them. I think I get plenty of protein. Don't really count it, but I am a huge fan of cottage, oatmeal cheeses, and milk. Does anyone have an idea how much a young, active male, should get in grams of protein? My son has been watching his weight and does very well but he is worried his hair is really thinning. He is 22. I meant to ask Amy last time I was at the office but forgot. Thanks for the info Glo.

Lisa, what were you talking about when you said something about three tickers. I think I have it fixed. But every ticker I had popped up for me to cut. Weird? Maybe they showed up while I was tinkering with it? Anyway I think it is fixed now. Sometimes that site is hard to manage for me. When I went to Dr. K the other day, she said 3 months for my next appt. Also Mrs. Betty came in and asked what she could do to help me. I guess I'm not doing very well. hmmmm. Just got to do better. I am trying. Lo2us, glad Gus is getting better, poor little fella...poor mom. Lisa what were you and glo talking about a diet and recipes? Guess I missed that. What is the pouch test? I must have gotton out of the loop for a few days to miss so much.

I have a friend that has a 5" rain gauge and she said it was running over this morning. There is water over the road in many places, and two underpasses were closed this a.m., early. When I left to go to town this morning about 7:00 it was pouring, couldn't tell the difference where the road started and the ditch ended. The weatherman says it is supposed to be worse tomorrow! Better get the oars out. We can't hold any more water here in Arkansas. Take care and be careful. Lo2us, how's little Gus? I know you are exhausted, no fun having a sick toddler. Hope he gets better quickly.

This is just a suggestion, but maybe some of you guys could pile in the car together and split the gas for the trip to T-Town, if not every month, maybe every other month. Gas is certainly an issue. But that way, it wouldn't dig too deep into anybody's pocket. Hope you can work out something, I enjoy the meetings too. Hope I can make the next one. April 14th I believe. 2nd Mon.

Well, I just posted and see that Dr. H happen to chime in and answered Lo2us question ! Thank you Dr. Hekier. Now that it is lighter later, you MP bandsters may enjoy visiting the Texarkana meeting. It is usually a full house. I would love to see Lisa, and Susan. I may not recognize your skinny selves though!

Newjulie, I have been wondering about you. Sorry to hear about your husbands problems, sounds like a nightmare. Trying to understand how that happened. Was that done that way on purpose? Or an error? Who and where did the surgery? Sorry so many questions, but I am the curious type. lol. You are going to have to work on the sugar thing. I have all the sympathy in the world for you. You might try sf hot chocolate, it is pretty good stuff, especially at night when you want to graze on a sweet snack. I love ice cream, and it is getting to that season for homemade ice cream. Not that I have to have that kind, any will do. lol. My husband just ate a bowl and I passed it up, a feat for me! Some sugarfree hard candy might help you when you get an I can't stand it craving. By all means get all the other out of the house! Congrats on the Grandbaby!! I have one that is 4 yrs. old. It's the best thing ever! Lo2us, we talked about those strange cravings before. I don't do it other than it seems like I want sweets in general more than before. It's interesting though. Maybe everyone else will share their cravings with us, if they have them.

Lisa, I had trouble getting on too. I think that happens every time they change or update the site. I think I am doing better, but still have to be careful or I'll PB. Not as much as before. Like you, I get in too big a hurry sometimes. I think I have lost a pound or two, maybe. Not weighing for a few days. Take care everyone.

    I am sick of Liquids

The reason for following the rules post-banding is healing. Letting things seat or scar in place. There isn't a lot of stitching there and it is to tissue. Thin, cream, low-fat soups, are usually fine. No chunks in them. All doctors have different rules for that first few weeks after surgery. by all means adhere to his or her rules. No lifting, pushing or pulling is advised either. You don't want to upset your port. You want these things to heal and seat or scar into place for your future band care. After going through all this, take care of your band, and it will take care of you. It is tough but once it is over and it will be sooner than you think, you will be on your merry way. Some get away with cheating, some suffer for it. I wouldn't want to chance being in the latter group. Hang in there, you will soon be on your way to a happier, healthier, thinner you. Hang in ther guys. Sugar free hot chocolate is a nice change for a liquid, and it may even help your sweet tooth.

Lisa, I edited my ticker and look what happened. Now it is on there twice. It asked me the stuff over again, I answered and now I have two. Don't have a clue how to remove one without removing both. Vlynn. Just check the site and we will figure it out when to meet. Summer may be better for you? If you ever go to Texarkana for a day let me know and if I am free and you want lunch company I'm meet you. Lisa isn't working now maybe she can come too. I am dying to see your skinny selves anyway. I'm nowhere near skinny but I have a few pounds more off than when I saw you. I am getting ready to start the walking thing too. I broke my leg and ankle and that was a pretty good set back but it's getting better all the time. Just been slow. Take care and tell Billy a big hello from me, and all of us are really proud of the two of you. Plain, how's it going with the fill?

    Texarkana Bandsters

I forgot to mention earlier that I did go and Dr. K unfilled me a "smidge" so far so good. No PB's today. Here it is 3:15 a.m. and I am wide awake. Been up since 1:30 a.m. Gonna be a looooong day. Plain, congrats on the first fill. I was like you, waiting in there for that fill. Nothing to it...I was shocked. I have had 8 ! When was your surgery date? I forgot. You may or may not notice any difference when you get back to foods. They probably told you liquids the first day and mushies the second. Don't let it discourage you if you don't. Everybody's band may fit differently in the beginning. The size of your stomach opening may be smaller or maybe larger than others. So it takes some several fills before they notice anything, some notice immediately. We are all different. A lot of us here have the old style band, all of you new commers have the new one. That is probably a factor too. Good luck and take care of your band. You are on a journey to a healthier you.

Vlynn, I am so glad to hear from you!!!! You probably didn't read back far enough, but I have asked about you several times! I am so glad you and DH are doing so well. Don't stay away so long, we missed you. I am going to get some taken out tomorrow. I think I am too tight. Just didn't want to admit it I guess. More is better apparently isn't always better. Just like most, I want to get this weight off and want it off quicker than it is comming off. It has been slow for me. We should plan on getting together again, that was so nice meet you and would enjoy it again. Maybe when school is out and all you teachers aren't quite as busy. How are your girls? School, ect. Thanks for posting, I thought you forgot about us! Take care. I go at 11:45 in the a.m. I hope Dr. K doesn't think I'm crazy. I was just there Mon. I've never had an unfill.

Hi Teresa. I have been doing that a lot too. I did not get a fill, but did not get an unfill either. I know what you mean about the restriction thing. I am afraid I will overeat if I am not relatively restricted. I am not losing too much either. I may have to do that too. We'll see. I am so sorry about the loss to the Taylor family. We will certainly pray for the family. Thank you Dr. H for bringing it to our attention. I have a hernia that needs surgery. Dr. Keilin will be doing that after I get back from vacation. I will call her when I get back to set it up, mid to late May. Take care everyone.

Happy Easter everyone! Lo2us, was the Easter Bunny good to Gus? We celebrated with family yesterday since a few needed to go out of town today. That's okay, we went to church this a.m. and had the rest of the day to ourselves. Just doing some burgers for one son and family tonight. Lisa, did the Bunny come see Tanner? I think he has been here....too much candy around here. My husband buying and fixing for a few special little ones. Of course there is a ton left over and I have been nibbleing. I told him to take it to work and give it away tomorrow. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Weren't we blessed with beautiful weather?! Teresa, what time do you go to PS tomorrow? I go at 9:00 Anybody else going?

Hi everyone. I go to the doc Mon. 9:00 a.m. What time do you go Teresa? I don't think I am going to get a fill this time. This will be my first time not to get one. am having to be very careful about eating, quite a few PB's. Finding myself eating lots of bandfriendly food. I know that's not good. so I may just stay where I am for now unless she thinks I need some. We'll see. I think I need to lose some weight to loosen my band, then I'll probably need a fill. I don't want to get too tight and risk erosion. Teresa I don't know what they put in, but maybe you can get half of it taken out. I think I have had about 9 fills. No unfills. I think I am going to ask, ( if I can remember) mon. I might ask for a total too. Everyone have a HAPPY EASTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all and welcome Sandra and all the new folks. I am so glad everyone is doing so well in the losing department! Hogwild, congrats and welcome to Bandland! I am glad you are doing so well. Just keep taking those walks, it really helps dissapate all those air bubbles. Even though you feel well, please don't over do..... no pushing, pulling, or lifting. You want everything to seat in place and stay there. A port that stays where it is supposed to, is much easier to fill. It will all be worth it. Lo2us, you are doing so great!!!! I know your husband is proud of you. I can't wait to see you again. Hope your sale goes good. Then you can go buy new clothes!! Did anyone ever post about the last meeting? I noticed Dr. H isn't doing anything on noscales.com I enjoyed that, but I guess he has gotton to busy for contest, ect. Still hoping to win an Ironwood Grill certificate. lol We like to eat there. Hang in there all you new people, you will be so happy when the pre-op and post-op diets are over.

By-the-way Teresa, 52 pounds in six months, that is wonderful!!!! I've been banded a year March 7th. Our banding was 6 months apart. I'm just hitting the 50# mark. You have done SUPER!! I am moving along very slow but I guess it's movin. I think it's called "turtleing." lol Take care.

Hello all. Didn't make it to the meeting. Hubby had to work late, and I had been there most of the day, too tired to drive back. Who went? Whoever went, fill those of us in that couldn't make it. I need to make the next one so I can get my 50# pin. I am a year out now. It's been slow but sure. I hope it picks up the second year. My leg/ankle is still improving but I am going to try to start a walking program soon. Maybe this will be a better year if I can keep from breaking any bones. lol

    Texarkana Bandsters

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I believe our meeting is tomorrow night, it's the second Mon. 7:00 Wadley. Even those of you not banded are welcome. I hope to be there. It will make two trips to T-town, but I may still come. Hogwild, hang in there. This is the worst part of the whole thing, pre-op diet is worse because you don't have the variety of liquids that you will work into post-diet. Drink lots of water, get some good flavors to put in them. Also you can have sugarfree popcicles, pretty good when you want something to chew on. It will get a little better as the second week gets here. I think you get used to it. This helps to shrink your liver, so stick with it. We all have sympathy, we all had to get through it. I was probably the biggest weenie of all about it. I came right here daily for encouragement, got it too. Hang in there. Hope to see everyone tomorrow night.

YEA!!!! LISA!!!!!!!! Way to go on the overweight instead of obese! There is hope for us all!!! I think you told me you started out slow, up til about 9 months, right? I am a member of the slow loser club. I don't always make good food choices and I am having to work on that. Very hard for me, but getting better. Lo2us, hang in there. I know it is frustrating when things aren't moving. Been there. But you know the exercise is a good thing. Maybe he will cut you back to three times a week for the gym and then try walking on that fourth day at home. I don't know how you do all that with a 3 year old, husband, and a full time job. You are ENERGETIC!! I admire you! Plain, how's it going? Getting plenty of protein? Once you get through the post-op diet things will be a lot better. Got any questions? Ask away, we are here to help in any way we can.
