maryz0920 got a reaction from Julie norton in What do you wish you'd known before lap band surgery?
Sometimes it's because you want to enjoy the things that other people are enjoying, things that you miss from your before life.
And sometimes I can eat something today without a problem, and have an entirely different experience the following day with the same food.
It even depends on how tight my clothing is or when I last had a bowel movement. It's a tricky situation to navigate.

maryz0920 got a reaction from Julie norton in Holy Mackerel....first really bad stuck episode in 3 1/2 years
4 years out and I occasionally have to make that bathroom run. Sometimes, if it's available right away, hot coffee will help to get things unstuck. Sometimes it is sitting up ramrod straight and putting my arms over my head. I have also noticed that if I am at all constipated, I have more difficulty getting the food to go down. You'd think after 4 years I'd be past this, but every once in a while......

maryz0920 got a reaction from Julie norton in 3 days in... Lots of confusion. Need support!
Please don't push it. It's ok to mourn the loss of a lifetime of eating habits that brought you here in the first place. The process is slow, but you will get to the point where you can occasionally eat some of the things that you used to enjoy. When that time comes that you can expand your food selections, remember to cut the food into small pieces, eat slowly, avoid liquids before and after....failure to follow the rules can cause damage to your band.
Just make sure that the liquid that you are using is high in Protein. This will help to curb your feeling of hunger.

maryz0920 got a reaction from kmt1973 in I Hate my Lap Band
I have has a lapband since 2012, and yes, I've had my challenges. Being the last person at the table to finish a meal, not chewing carefully when I am out to dinner because I am talking and eating at the same time. But I now weigh in at 138 down from 290, so for me, it has been worthwhile.
Once in a while, I go back to my post surgery roots and spend 2 weeks on Protein drinks and Soups. This gives my body a rest, provides me with sufficient Protein, and sort of re-sets my resolve.
I hope you have better luck this time around. Just remember, slow and steady.
