    Catheter?

I didn't but was the same, swollen and had some resistance peeing. But through the first night I went 3 times because of the fluids they pumped into me all day. Got easier the next day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

I had both Graves and Hashimoto's, the results above give positive evidence. Remember recent studies have pointed to several culprit's of our diet being contributors. So this step is an amazing tool because it will give your metabolism just the kick in the pants it needs. I was sleeved on the 30th and I feel amazing! And I've lost 15lbs since surgery. Having your TSH tested is critical! Well wishes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    5 Days Post-Op- Pain

Thanks for posting! I overdid things today; carried in groceries today and started feeling a dull ache in my right side. I had a hiatal hernia repair too. I took some Tylenol today and took it easy. Hopefully I didn't mess it up. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Fat Shaming Husband...so hurt

Is he a Christian? The Bible has some strong advice for husbands. That they should love them as the famine one, the weaker vessel. That means taking into consideration your feelings, emotional make up. The wife is to honor and respect her husband. That needs to be earned. The Bible translation doesn't use obey in newer translations. Relationship should be built on Love and mutual respect. Maybe he needs a little time reading the words from creator of marriage. Selfish is as Selfish Does! Sorry your dealing with this idiot! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Officially sleeved!

I was sleeved on Thursday the 30th and was the first patient of the day. My pain was there when I woke up but quickly under control. I had the pump in hand and I used it all day and slept until the pain rolled in. I slept pretty good. I got up and walked and the gas was in my shoulder. I had a hernia repair too and they told me that was why I had that pain. It was more gas. Late on day 2 I passed my first gas. It was heavenly. The last day I was on Tylenol and another pain med for the road home. I got a script for if I needed it. But truthfully I've been doing fine. I didn't have any issues. I can drink down a half glass of Water in 30 min. With a couple of burps and my shakes slide Down smooth. I can tell when I'm full cuz my friend the pain twinges in my neck/shoulder and I feel tension in my upper chest. Today is my 6th day and I went to Cosco and cooked dinner and I feel fine without any meds. I did the pre-op diet and as of today I'm down 17 lbs. I started it on the 23rd. 9. Don't confuse stock and broth. Stock is meat stock added to recipes. Broth can stand on its own with rich flavor for us to sip. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  10. Absolutely no laxative, miralax is the suggestion in my Booklet given by my surgical team. Mixed into liquid should bulk up your stools to produce something. Like said above, you have changed and we have to wait. In due time it will come. Drink your fluids. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  11. My doctor gave me a proton pump inhibitor which helps with reflux and all the discomforts described above. I worked as a diet instructor for a weight loss center. Dehydration can be managed by staying mindful of the needed electrolyte balance. For every 20oz add 4-6 oz of a "Smartwater" or sugar free drink. It is essential due to the Protein. Combination of fluids will keep you from feeling hunger, being cranky, tired, foggy etc. if you feel dizzy we always told our clients to take a teaspoon of honey and dilute it into weak decaf tea or lemon Water. Never lick the spoon. But what this does is brings your system a level dose of energy similar to electrolyte drinks. Licking the spoon will cause you to have blood sugar attack. So 1 electrolyte drink a day has enough ounces to cover your needs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Be patient your very swollen too. Your body is in shock and learning to cope. Once you get a regular pattern it will kick in. I'm in the same boat. But I did pre surgical diet. The liquid diet is something of a challenge for me not because I am hungry but I don't feel hungry. The broth is yummy once I start. I feel like I have a hangover but no major pain or discomfort. I'm on day 5. The shakes go down fine but fluid intake is about 58 oz at max so far. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I have been diagnosed in 90's with fibro and was a support group leader for it. Hosted many speakers and thankfully since found that my fibro was individual. We all have triggers whether diet, stress, weather etc. but management is important. There have been studies done that indicate that auto immune response begins in the gut. If you look into the research by googling anti-inflammatory response due to gastric sleeve. I posted on the "research tab" in the web site. It has links you may find interesting. I have Graves' disease and once my thyroid was removed I experienced a complete remission in my pain levels. And I noticed since that when I ate sugar which was rare I'd get waves of pain that would run through my body. That was something that kind of rolled from my gut. Well studies confirmed my observation. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeved Tomorrow!

Home and feeling well. First day was not too bad. They did hiatal hernia repair and fixed adhesions while inside. So I was medicated. Slept most of it, but I did get up and went to the bathroom, and walked the halls some. Next morning I got to see my leak test, the tech turned the screen, I was told to throw the little liquid back like a shot and swallow, as I did I saw separations that tipped me off to see I needed to swallow more to move drink down and since I've learned to burp up air I swallow. So now I've had no problem keeping shakes and Water down. Day 4 and Tylenol liquid gels is all I need for pain. Sleepy every few hours, but doing good. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  15. I can't believe how fast the time went. Pre-op diet was fine, think I lost 12 lbs. going to bed now, they called me at 3:00 to tell me I'm expected at hospital at 6:00 am. Pray for me! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Blood clots anyone?

Drinking your fluids prevents the blood clots. Did you know that the juice from cooked greens has a natural blood thinning effect. That's why people on blood thinners are told not to eat greens. So FYI if you make green juice add bay leaf to the broth and it will cut the gas. Or use gas X to ease discomfort. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    4 month weight loss

The nurse told us yesterday that the first four months are the fastest weight loss months, then it switches to slow and steady. She said the work begins after 4 months. Change ups are good. Stay with the program Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

I got to watch my swallow test and when I threw back the shot of liquid I saw I needed to take three swallows to get things to move. Keeping that in mind has helped me get things down pretty well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Best tasting broth?

Bone Broths are easy to make. And help with inflammation. Put a package of beef narrow bones into a pot, add a few whole stalks of celery, onion peeled and halved a couple carrots halved and fill pot with enough Water to make it swim. I added a little garlic and salt and pepper. But it's rich and just delish. But the cartons of stock by Swanson are pretty good. If you make chicken stock peel the breast off to save for your chicken salad later. And just use the bones. Honestly I'm 4 days out of surgery. I loved the broth too at the hospital. But very salty.
