  1. I'm doing pretty well with my protein, but still struggling with the water. Not sure why it's so hard but it is...
  2. I had my sleeve surgery 6/21 and I haven't been able to eat canned tuna yet...the smell is horrid to me, and I was a tuna lover before Initially, you won't be able to get your Protein from food alone, so be prepared with a few alternatives. I liked the Premier Protein ready-to-drink that you can get at costco, chocolate was my go-to once I was on full liquids. I also used the clear Isopure drinks for a couple of weeks...I found the lemonade flavor to be most palatable. I also liked powdered Isopure proteins initially, now I can't tolerate the flavored ones, only the unflavored. My new find is GENEPRO powdered protein...it's flavorless, odorless and can be mixed with anything, hot or cold. 30g protein per scoop makes it a great supplement for me. Also, Syntrax nectars have been a nice option, they come in fruit flavors and mix with Water. They've helped with both my protein AND water goals. Now that I'm eating real food, I'm only using the Premier Protein RTDs as coffee creamer, mixed with a scoop of Genepro. Refried Beans are a great source of protein, thin them with water initially, now I mix with Genepro. I love fresh mexican cheese, so I put a few tablespoons of refried beans in a ramekin, top with queso casera and microwave to warm them up. I really like Pacific mushroom Soup, I chop up a little chicken and add it, the soup moistens the chicken and makes it easier to chew and swallow. A little mashed potato is another yummy option, top with some shredded cheese. And grilled salmon has been the easiest 'real' food I've eaten yet...it's soft and not too fishy, so it's going down easy. I've mostly concentrated on getting 90g protein and drinking 64 oz of Fluid daily...I'm down 25 lbs and feeling really great. Good luck to you!!
  3. FINALLY, I'm losing again. I was stuck for 8 days, but I kept on plan and kept exercising...woke up this morning 1.5 lbs lighter than yesterday. I'm now 25 lbs down since my surgery on 6/21! I'm glad to see week #3 in my rearview mirror
  4. #3 I totally get. I was watching my husband eat last night and I was jealous, not of the quantity he could eat overall but of the size of the bite he could take. I would LOVE to take a huge bite of anything right now, and follow it with a couple of big gulps of Water.
  5. Weirdly, I miss blueberry scones...craving them like I'm in my 2nd trimester or something! And I would dearly, dearly love to chug a 16 oz glass of Water like I used to.
  6. I'm feeling you...my surgery was June 21st as well, and I'm only using RTD Protein as creamer in my decaf coffee. I'm adding a scoop of GENEPRO to my coffee, so that gives me 30g plus maybe 5g from the RTD at Breakfast. I either drink a Syntrax nectar (23g) or add another scoop of Genepro (30g) to a glass of Water with some flavored stevia later in the day, and another to my refried Beans or Soup at lunch or dinner. That gets me to 90 or nearly there, so the third meal is just bonus protein for my day. I'm really impressed with the Genepro product, and I can't tolerate any of the Isopure powders right now :-P
  7. I'm so sorry you're struggling...I'm about to hit 4 weeks post-op and generally, I feel better every day. Have you talked with your surgical team about your nausea? You really have to because you may need to be on some kind of medication to keep the nausea at bay so that you can eat. Your headaches are almost certainly related to lack of food and/or liquids. Do you have any energy at all? Are you able to walk, or get outside in the sun? That may help your mood. Call your doc tomorrow, don't let this go on any longer. By week 2, you really should be feeling better than it sounds like you are. Take care!
  8. I couldn't agree more about every day being it's own little journey! A couple of days ago, I just felt gross. Weird taste in my mouth, struggling with even getting my Water in much less 90g protein! I went for a walk and felt awful, I literally went to bed at 8pm just to get that day over with. Fast forward to today, I bounced out of bed early to let the dog out, decided it was so gorgeous out that I took him for a walk. Came back, made a decaf Protein coffee and read on my back patio until my husband got up. We took our kayaks out and paddled around for a couple of hours and now we're home doing house chores and I can't believe it's already 5pm. I'd sure love many more days like today and for the 'gross' day to be rare...I'm sure I'll have more of them but it's nice to have a group to share the ups and downs with :-)
  9. My surgery was June 21st as well! I don't know about a Facebook page, but there's a nice group of us posting on this thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/370515-late-june-sleeve-buddies/ Come and join us!
  10. You've lost pretty much 1 lb per day...that's great weight loss, especially so soon post-op. I don't think it's smart or fair to yourself to compare your weight loss to anyone else's, even your twin. Everyone's body acts differently after major surgery, give yourself some time! I lost 1 lb/day for 23 days and now I'm stuck, but I'm just sticking to the program and I know it will come off. BUT, I'm walking even more and went kayaking for an hour today, even though it would have been nice to nap on the couch. I KNOW moving more will help kick me out of this mini stall I'm in. Dust yourself off and focus on the positives, like the seven pounds you've lost since 7/9! I've NEVER been able to lose a pound a day before, it's like magic!
  11. @Traciebenison I'm June 21st as well! How are you feeling?
  12. This was exactly what I was instructed by my surgeon at my 2 week post-op checkup. I'm eating grilled chicken and pork, squash, green Beans, cherries, mozzarella cheese, etc. Chewing them to baby food consistency, but it's still real food
  13. You've lost pretty much a pound a day...that's very good! Don't set up situations that allow others to make negative comments, that's just going to sabotage you at a time when you should be feeling very positive about yourself! When people ask me how I'm doing post-surgery, I never talk about pounds lost or how I look, I talk about how I feel. I feel fantastic, I'm in less pain, I have more stamina and more energy. Other people can't take any of that away from me Hang in there, you're doing great!
  14. @@reachbree Mine was making so much noise last night that one of my dogs started barking at it I'm hoping this is temporary?!?
  15. I'm only 3.5 weeks post op, so someone with more experience will have to answer about the foam. I was prescribed both a stool softener and a drug called Senna when I was discharged. I discontinued the Senna pretty quickly, it was causing some diarrhea, but I'm still taking the stool softener. 3 days with no bowel movement is well within normal, my doc said not to get concerned until I got to more like 10 days with nothing. I think my first one was about 5 or 6 days post-op.
  16. I've had some grilled zucchini and oven-roasted broccoli, I make it pretty much the way Valentina described. Just chew it very well and eat your Protein first
  17. @@melvin5ft2 All of my pain has been on my upper right side...it's just referred pain and it's not uncommon at all. When I had appendicitis a few years ago, all of my pain was upper left instead of lower right where it 'should' be :-)
  18. I didn't do a bowel prep for my sleeve...I ate a normal dinner the night before and was NPO from midnight on. I'm STILL going from diarrhea to constipation, it's so frustrating.
  19. We were out doing some shopping last night and it got late, so stopped to get some dinner with my husband, son and son's friend. Ended up at a brewpub-y kind of place and it was HARD to find something to eat. I ended up going with a cup of chowder, but for the first time, I had food envy. They had fried calamari, which is (was!) one of my top 10 favorite things to eat EVER. But the envy wasn't so strong that I did something stupid, like eat a piece of it...this morning I feel virtuous even though the scale isn't moving right now. I can't wait until I can go out and order a salad with some grilled chicken or salmon. Never thought a salad would feel like a splurge! Hope you're all looking forward to a fun weekend....but where is our Maggie? I wish she'd post and let us know how she's doing.
  20. Me!! I was losing 1 lb/day, then lost 3 lbs in one day...then no loss for 3 days, lost 1 lb and now no loss for 3 days. I'm doubling down on ensuring I'm getting at least 60g protein/day and riding it out. This stall can't last forever, I'm only eating 500-600 calories/day! We bought kayaks yesterday so hopefully some time paddling around the Sound this weekend will jump start me I did measure myself yesterday and I've lost 6 inches off my waist and 4 from my thighs I'm sorry you're going through it, too, but glad to have some company in my misery!
  21. Your BMI is about 74...in the practice where I was recently sleeved, you would be a candidate for a Duodenal Switch or a Roux-en-Y bypass, or for a sleeve gastrectomy as a first step, to help you lose some weight prior to a revision to a DS or RNY. This is definitely something that you can only decide in talking with your surgeon, because your co-morbidities will contribute to the decision in a major way. Good luck to you.
  22. This helped me to understand whats going on....... http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php Donell1000, that was a great article! It really explained the glycogen/weight connection really well. Thanks!
  23. When I advanced from clear to full liquids, my stomach did NOT like it at all. I tried Protein shakes, had diarrhea, I tried a creamed soup, same outcome. I moved myself back to clear liquids for a couple of days, then tried again and it was fine. It just wasn't time yet, I guess.
  24. I made the ricotta bake tonight...it was SO. DARNED. GOOD.
  25. 7-8 T of food per meal! I'm not sure I could get that much in right now, except for liquids. I'm about to complete week 3 and tonight was the first time I had 4T of food...I made that yummy ricotta bake and it was AMAZING.
