  2. Your story sounds like what my surgeon just told me during my consult. He,said about 1/3 of sleeve patients will experience hearburn after the procedure, but he said he is seeing many people 4/5 yearsafter the sleeve having horrendous reflux and doing revisions to rny. Not sure how long your out, best of luck to u. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  3. Are you still on pain meds? They will make you nauseous. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  4. I have had gerd / acid reflux for years. I had the consult with the sergeon 8/31 and,we talked, about this. He said" yes about 1/3 of sleeve patients will experience heartburn after, and it can be bad". He also said what he is now seeing is lot of is people 4 / 5 years out from the sleeve surgery are having bad reflux and opting for the revision to bypass. He wants to do a scope on me, before any surgery, but at this point im leaning toward the bypass instead of my first choice of the sleeve. I dont want to have anymore surgery/ revision, years later. 7. I have a BMI OF 35 and I will be able to have the RNYid i choose. Im leaning that way due to gerd. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  8. I do have gone through the bloodwork, psych eval., met with surgeon, and now have to be scoped, and sleep apnea test. I was set on the sleeve, but read horror stories about acid reflex, after the sleeve. I talked to the surgeon about this, as I have had gerd for years. He said yes it is common, and what he is really starting to see is 4 to 5 years out from the sleeve people are REALLY experiencing reflux bad, and end up doing a revision to the bypass. So i have made up my mind to have the bypass, because I do not want to have a revision down the line. Im 57 now BMI 35 so Im not gonna chance having reflux daily and another surgery. Good luck to you. Hope I have helped somewhat. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

  12. TAYFUSION304 I agree with you I dont want any revision. Im leaning toward the bypass, now after talking to the surgeon. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  13. I've never heard that. Obesity and comorbities can certainly cause kidney disease. Talk to your surgeon but I don't think this is a concern.Yes, it realmy is true, and a real concern. I just had my consult with my surgeon and he basically agreed with me, and said he doesnt like anyof thosr meds Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

  16. Mina Dina:I met with my surgeon yesterday for my consult, and I told him about my gerd, and im gonna have an scope procedure. But what he said was, that what he is seeing with sleev patients, is 4 or5 years after the sleeve the gerd is coming back, in addition to some people having it about 3 month out of sleeve surgery. Now I thi k Im leaning toward the gastric bypass. I dont want to go through surgery again with a revision. Thank u. Its funny some people with gerd improve with the sleeve. Some have worse gerd than before the sleeve. So confusing Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  17. I just had my consult with my surgeon today, and i was gonna get the sleeve, but now, because of having years of gerd im leaning towards GB. My surgeon said, " that typically he,sees more reflux issues after 4 to 5 years out". But sleeve patients can and some get reflux about 3 months out also. I dont, want to have to do the revising later. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  18. TAYFUSION304It is 35 BMI (which i am) and one comorbidity. But I thought typically a person with a higher bmi are more apt to go with gastric bypass. Had my surgeon consult today, and be ause of acid reflux he said I could do the GB instead of the sleeve. Not sure what to do, but I know forsure Im concerned about the reflux that is typical after the sleeve Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App For the food journal, i think it will be ok? I was asked about how often I exercise, how much Protein I have in a day, calories, and Water. Have your journal ready just in case. My letter wasn't that long. Only a page. I gave reasons why I wanted the surgery, that I understand the risks, who my support system was, how I plan on using the tool to achieve my goals, etc. Today I had my appointment with the GI doctor.
