Hi Rosey posey: Im 57, in the process of gastric bypass and just did the take home sleep study machine. Low and behold I have sleep apnea, AHI 20. I just got the results on a sleep apnea that the surgeon ordered, and sure enough I have sleep apnea. AHI 20, whatever this means. I have,an appoi tment for medical clearance on 10/10, but does this mean it will be delayed? Does anyone know what happens at this point? Feeling a bit discouraged. Thanks in advance.???? Laliza: during my consult the surgeon basically said that, that " many people are havibg bad gerd 4 to 5 years out, from the sleeve". The surgeon said "the sleeve is easier and faster". Ok, so I understand our bodies do not absorb Iron after RNY bypass, but are infusions the only option if you become anemic?? And how is an ibfusion done? Is it like an IV?? So what the long term effect of low iron, which is basically not enough red blood cells? Anyone hear of severe complications years out? Just had my consult,a few weeks,ago and i was,also worried,about,that,as,I have gerd and have had it for years. The surgeon said, " about 1/3 of sleeved patients will e,perience heartburn after the sleeve". He,also,said, " what he is,seeing more and more now is,that 4 to 5 years out,sleeve patients,arw getting heartburn really bad and getting a revision to rny.
