I would suggest that you get the reason for the gain documented by the Pulmonary Doctor and have them submit it will the initial paperwork to Aetna. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Does anyone have to pay a large copay and deductible
NikkiRT replied to Justina0218's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will have a $200 flat copay. I chose the $0 deductible plan. All in all with the various copay's along the way for appointments related to the surgery it about $600 oop total for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hey all~ This may have been posted previously, but someone shared a website where you can apply for Protein shakes and I believe supplements for free! If you have private insurance, they will work with your doctor and insurance company to see if you can get them covered, and delivered to your home for free. I do not know any further details such as if you have to wait until after the surgery to apply, but there is also a number on the website you can call. http://insurenutrition.com/category_list.php?cid=28 Worth a try!!!! How long do you plan to take off work after surgery?
NikkiRT replied to Amber M.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I will be covered at %100 with short term disability. My doctor says 2 weeks but what if I want to take longer, to wait until I am on solid food? Do I have a say in the matter as far as how long I am off?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hey LizHobbs, You need to call your insurance company and they should be able to advise you of your cost, or approx cost. You can also look at your insurance handbook that should provide this information. It really depends on the type of insurance you chose. Best of luck with everything! Nicole

I just went through this entire thread, because I have Aetna as well, which is sponsored through my employer. I have read through all the documents on the requirements, and I am not seeing anywhere that is states there can not be weight gain through the process. Is this something that your surgeon advised you of? I just don't want any suprises:)
