  1. Currently I'm taking the Bariatric fusion chewable tablets in cherry flavor. I have to take 4 tablets per day. Since after the surgery it seems my taste buds have changed and I just can't stand any artificial smells or flavors. I'm looking for a Multivitamin pill/capsule to be swallowed and that has to be taken only once per day. The powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury have a chewable tablet that is to be taken once per day but I just want to avoid anything that is chewable. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I'm not sure what is causing my problem with Protein shakes but I too have problems with them. Tried many different brands and all the same. I get what seems like dumping syndrome but weird thing is I never dump to anything else not even sugar and chocolate. So I'm off protein shakes and trying to get in as much protein as possible from my food. cheese is a good and easy option. So is Greek yogurt. Someone told me about Branched Chain Amino Acids as a substitute to protein but I'm currently trying to find out more about that. Hope things get better for you and me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Basics are as follow:- - fluids. I take around 1.5 liters per day. Which is around 50 oz. and that's not bad according to my NUT for someone recently out of a surgery (had my MGB April 30th) - Vitamins, I'm taking all with no problem. I take the full Bariatric multi vitamins plus Calcium citrate. No Iron yet because I had 7 units of blood right after surgery. So will need to check my serum ferritin 3 months after the date of my surgery. - protein. Target is 60 grams. Currently averaging 30-40 grams. So I'm trying to look for a solution. I'm only 7 kg's away from my target weight and I don't know how to slow things down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. From what I was told and from what I read (it is also sold at GNC) you only need to take 2-4 capsules per day. I had something that I can compare to dumping syndrome every time I had a Protein shake. Apparently many of who had MGB have an issue with Protein shakes either dumping or something else. My doctor doesn't seem to be worried or even bothered about protein intake and just says to eat my protein before anything else when I have my meals. He asked me to stop all protein shakes and concentrate on protein from meat and eggs. So obviously if I ask him about BCAA he wouldn't be bothered. My hair is starting to fall and it's worrying me . I don't have a problem with taking my Vitamins at all and try my best to get my protein from food but it's not easy to get in 60-70 grams of protein per day. I'm 6 weeks out of a MGB. I try to make my own protein shakes at home btw but I still am unable to reach 60-70 grams of protein per day.. And I'm looking for an easier way Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. Im lost and I'm not sure now if the MGB is a reversible procedure or not!! My surgeon specifically said he favors it over VSG because of the option of reversibility.. He made the reversing sound so easy that he said it's even done whenever the patient wants to.. On the other hand side, another Bariatric surgeon said to forget about the reversibility of MGB. It's a non reversible procedure.. The risks are high and if the patient develops severe side effects from the MGB then we can only shift them to conventional bypass (RNY). Nothing else can be done I feel lost.. And I sure am worried.. My surgeon never told me about the risk of cancer following MGB.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Ok I always knew that enjoying food as much as I used to was wrong and it was the main reason I would always get week and tempted every time I dieted.. I also knew that that will change after surgery, but I never imagined it to change to this extend!!! Seriously eating now is the most boring task of my whole day. Everything tastes bland and I have no appetite what so ever. I could literally get stuffed on half an egg. I average around 250 calories per day and on my best days 400. It seems I'm allergic to certain ingredient in Protein shakes so I can't do Protein Shakes and have to get my protein from food. So I spend my whole day trying to eat as much as I can only because I have to and not because I enjoy it.. I feel nauseous almost all the time. And I'm 1 month post op and lost 13 kg in one month which is over what I should be losing in one month. I only have 9 kg left to reach my goal weight and looking at how things are going for me I think I will be reaching my goal weight within the next month. Anyone reached their goal weight within 2 month!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Thank you sooooo much for the links. They sure are helpful. ❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Thanks. I have tried adding powdered milk to regular milk and ended up having diarrhea .. Tried it again and same thing, tried milk alone and again same thing. Wonder if now I'm becoming lactose intolerant or not!! Used to have milk perfectly fine for the first 2 weeks after surgery. The pre-mixed Protein shake had the same effect as protein shakes. Protein bars I can take and didn't have a problem with but i can only take in very small amount of food per day so I spent a whole day just chewing on one Quest protein bar! Which is around 20g.. Again this wasn't the case almost 10 days ago and my oral intake was much better. I'll try making my whey at home from Greek yogurt and see how that goes. Sardines packed in oil is something I can handle well at the moment. And it's a good source of protein. Thing is my doctor doesn't seem to be bother about protein intake that much I wonder why!! My loop was made shorter than usual because he said I don't need to lose much and having a shorter loop will make nutrient absorption better. To be honest I did consult another Bariatric surgeon 2 days ago and asked him for his opinion. He said I should be a low risk since my loop is shorter but he would've preferred a VSG for my case. 10. Btw my oral intake was much better 10 days ago.. Then all of a sudden it went down hill and everything tastes just so horrible @@StefanieSparklePants how can I make my own Protein shakes? I'm not sure what in protein shakes I'm allergic to but I tried different brands and all had the same effect on me. The only other thing that cause the same reaction (what seemed like dumping syndrome) was porridge!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App @@LisaMergs btw I don't live in the states. And the options we have are very limited. I'll look online though and try and find a good substitute.. Thanks for the help Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. @@James Marusek.. Yes I lost 13kgs in the first month. Ideally I should weigh 50-55 kg. If I go below 45 kg then I'm underweight. Initially I was booked for a sleeve but my surgeon convinced me to go for a mini gastric bypass and assured me I will not lose more weight than required and if I do then the surgery is reversible unlike VSG which is not.. I dump on Protein shakes and porridge. But not on sugar!! I honestly don't know what's causing the dumping! How do I make my own protein shakes? And what's a good substitute??! I really feel lethargic Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Yes I had 48-50 lbs to lose. I had a mini gastric bypass.. I don't know how to make food taste better! Everything tastes horrible yet I force myself to eat. I feel my pouch is just not allowing anymore food in.. It hurts so bad if I eat more Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. At 1 month post-op my doctor says I am ready to eat anything. However, I feel I used to eat better last week compared to this week. Both quality and quantity wise. Since yesterday I feel meat doesn't go down well and causes me cramping. So I decided to stop. But I wonder what everyone else is eating 1 month out of mini gastric bypass? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. So how are you now with the eating?? I feel I'm completely with no appetite in the last 3 days.. I'm hardly eating anything. I could literally eat 1 egg in 3 hours.. I'm feeling really weak and wonder if this is normal and just a phase or not? Protein shakes seem to cause what looks like dumping syndrome for me so I stay away from it.. I think I because allergic to something in the Protein Shakes.. I was doing much better last week compared to this week Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    WEAK AND TIRED

I went through the same. My sense of smell is not as sensitive now as it was but Protein I'm still struggling with and trying to reach my recommended daily intake. I still feel muscle pain exactly like what you're feeling. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Hi I was wondering if there is anyone here who had a gastric bypass or a mini gastric bypass with a pre-op weight of 35 or less? How was it for you so far and what made you decide on the surgery? Why did you chose bypass or mini bypass and not VSG? I would really want to hear from you all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My question was clear. Is this procedure reversible or not.. Please just answer the question if you know the answer .. I'm not here to explain why I would want to reverse it (though I did not specifically say I want to reverse it). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. A sleeve is not reversible.. I'm talking about Mini Gastric Bypass here .. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Did anyone notice their skin going extremely dry after MGB? I know this isn't related to Water intake because I have gone through times when my water intake was much worse than what it is now.. I did develop a kidney stone but never got skin that is as dry as it is now. Is this related to MGB and absorption? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Just called my doctor this morning.. He advised me to take extra Zinc 20 mg for one month and see if things improve or not Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pregnant 8 months post op

I finally had it done with Dr. Khalid Merza (Dr. Sultan Altemyat's partner). He is great honestly.. Well both of them are great. But when it comes to revision or reversal I think I'll chose a government hospital. I think government hospitals are better able to handle severe complications like bleeding. The setting is much better in all aspects .. Not that my doctor wasn't able to handle my bleeding, but the hospital setting was just not what I expected. Not to mention the huge hospital bill I was left with.. It was literally more than the cost of the surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. @@Band07 Wow, so I'm just thinking, if you're bypass was 9' and you are still doing so well nutrition wise, then at a 5' bypass I shouldn't have a problem either.. Well at least that's what I hope for Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Bands are still used.. Only it's getting less and less used.. .. Wow 6 stones is a lot of weight.. Well done.. I only have to lose 3.5-4 stones .. Anything extra and I will be under weight Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Ahh it's a relief to hear about people who are doing really well. Sugar sometimes cause me to dump and others it's fine. Haven't tried high fat food yet but dairy and cheese I can tolerate well it was Protein shakes that caused the worst dumping. I'm sorry do you mean your bypass was 9 feet?? That's around 2.7 meters.. Isn't that a lot!!!! I only had 1.8 meters that's around 5 feet.. I'm glad your not having problems with your labs because malnutrition was really what was scaring me out of all this.. That's reassuring, I hate taking anything chewable and chalky and I definitely hate having to take my vitamins several times per day.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Mmmmm well my doctors (both Bariatric surgeon and OB/GYN) said I should be fine trying for pregnancy 3 months post-op provided that I do my labs prior to trying.. They don't usually recommend that for anyone else but I have much less to lose anyways and will probably lose all my excess weight at 4-6 months.. So I guess it's safe to start prenatals now Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
