  1. Thank you! I've lost 70 and haven't hit my goal yet. I started at 264 and want to get to a toned 180 or 175. I felt great for most of the journey. I did have to have my gallbladder out a few months after being banded which slowed my progress some because of recovering from that surgery. Other than a little reflux every now and then, I feel great! Feeling like you did pre-surgery is good; you don't want to feel miserable. I can recommend a cookbook or other things if you'd like :)

  2. Louie'sMom, how are you feeling? In one week, it'll be my one year bandiversary. I'm still losing. It does come off more slowly than other methods but I'm not dealing with loose skin so we don't have to worry about that surgery... keep in touch.

  3. Hi everyone.

    Banded 7/29/16

    First fill 9/16/16 (4cc's)

Just found out today I need my gallbladder out. I know this is a known post surgical complication for some people...but this seems like it came on so soon after surgery. Has anyone else had to have it removed so soon after surgery? I'm just trying to see if it's common or maybe something else is going on with my gallbladder. I could've sworn they checked it in preop and it was fine but maybe they didn't check it.

  4. Hi Alex,

My surgery went well. It was July 29. I had a quick recovery. I did have a brutal Migraine the week after the procedure...not sure if that was random or related to the recovery. What Protein drinks are you drinking? During my second week, I sort of stopped craving food like I had been. I loved premiere Protein. It kept me satisfied for hours! And broth was a lifesaver. Before I was doing preop, I couldn't believe people were satisfied on broth and Popsicles and protein but now that I'm on the other side, you can totally do it. I was very sore waking up from surgery...but, I only needed the pain meds for 3 days. Any questions you have, feel free to ask :)

  5. Hi everyone,

Before being banded (July 29), I would drink at least 96 ounces of Water - usually more. Since being banded, I'm having a very difficult time even drinking 32 ounces. I think I'm very dehydrated (dizzy, weak, headache...). Any tips on getting enough water? I'm almost to a point where I might go get an IV because I feel so bad and almost faint. Thanks in advance!

  6. Has anyone tried making zucchini chips? Very good and you can add different spices for flavor.

How do you make those? I would love to try it!

Just slice a zucchini into rounds - not too thin. Put a little olive oil on them and sea salt (some people put Parmesan and panko but I make them plain) you can put red pepper flakes or chipotle on. Play with flavored you like. 450 degrees for 25 minutes. :)

  7. Thanks everyone. The nutritionist didn't change anything when I saw her. The patient coordinator pulled me aside as I was leaving and whispered "as long as it isn't three days before your procedure, if you really need something, it's ok to have chicken or some Protein as long as it's less than the size of your fist. But all liquids three days before." ...she has a lap band too. So, I'm going to hard boil some eggs to have on hand in case I get woozy again so I don't faint. It was pretty scary fainting and being alone in the house.

  8. Hi all- Today is day 4 of 14 day liquid preop. I fainted this morning in my kitchen. Feeling better now that I have a Protein Shake in me. Anyone else ever experienced it and how did you combat it? I'm thinking getting up in the middle of the night for a few sips of Protein might help. Any thoughts? (And yes, I put in a call to the nutritionist and am awaiting her response to see if I can adjust this at all, but she isn't in until 10am and I passed out at 6:30am so just trying to get any advice I can before she calls back). Thanks!

  9. Alex Benton,

Congrats on being approved! I was approved also and go for preop labs today! I found out that my insurance automatically approves anyone who is seeking surgery at a "Center of Excellence" - they approved they request in 24 hours! Surgery is set for July 29th. Keep me posted on how you do; it sounds like we will be going through them at the same time :)

  10. I had my last nutrition/weight appointment before being submitted to insurance for approval. During the two weeks before my appointment, I passed a kidney stone and developed a UTI that went to my kidney so I was on a lot of antibiotics and pain killers - so I was eating crackers and things to settle my nausea and I was retaining a lot of the Water I was drinking to pass the stone and clear the infection plus constipated from the pain medicines. I gained about 5 pounds between appointments. The dietician is going to submit me to insurance and explain my gain - so my question is, has anyone experienced a slight gain and been approved by insurance? I have BC/BS.

    Thanks!
