  1. definately talk to your surgeon. You shouldn't be getting hungry soon after you eat. I had my first fill on this past thursday (and was banded on 7/7) and when he asked I told him the truth...that I could definately eat less at a time than before surgery but WAY more than I should...and I was getting VERY hungry very soon after eating...all of that means that you need a fill. You might only need a SMALL fill, but your doc will determine what's best after talking with you. And let him/her know about your concerns with being 'overfilled'...they'll make you drink a cup of Water after they give you the fill and if it's too much they'll take some out... Goodluck!
  2. hi! I was banded 7/7 and the gas was by far the WORST part of the whole surgery...it would just suddenly feel like i had a knife in my shoulder and it brought me to tears...and it lasted (on and off) for 3 weeks... I walked... a lot. I also did take the Gas-X strips and it did help...any relief of (or should i say RELEASE of) gas did help the pain in my shoulder... GOODLUCK! It will get better....
  3. ok so here i go: as of this morning, i'm 226! Down 2 from yesterday, and 3 from thursday (when I got my first fill)... life is good...i'm excited to see that scale going down down down! :frown:
  4. I can definately feel the difference today. Right now I like how I feel...i have to eat slow and I can only eat a very small amount before I feel really full, but i'm happy! It means that the band is working and i am so happy about that! Now I have to go grocery shopping so i can make healthier choices...i was out of EVERYTHING today so even though i only ate a little, it wasn't the healthiest....only better from here!
  5. I Just got my fill today...i'm exhausted from working (2 jobs today) so I don't remember if I already posted...if I did, just stop reading here..lol If not, it really wasn't bad! I'm terrified of needles and this was just a little uncomfortable..i HATE when people say that, but it's true  I have 5cc's in a 14cc band...didn't feel much of anything but now that it's been almost 12 hours, i feel it getting tighter..WOOHOO! :crying:
  6. yay! I'm so glad you all posted! I was banded 7/7/09 and today was my first fill...i have 5cc's! How's the restriction feel for you all? I know it's different person to person and I see that some of you have had 2-3 fills before getting this many...i'm hoping that this is good restriction for awhile for me... Also, how did you all feel the same day as the fill? When did you start feeling different? I'm just trying to gauge how i'm feeling. WHen I drank the Water in the office i noticed that it went down slower...not much, but a little different feeling. Now that it's been a few hours (10 to be exact) I'm starting to feel tighter...and i'm excited about that! Looking forward to hearing lots of responses here! :crying:
  7. it's what I have! I just wanted to start a thread for those of us who have the same band  Barbie
  8. i just got my first fill a few hours ago...clear liquids until the end of the day...I noticed it felt SLIGHTLY different when I swallowed the Water...like it went down slower but only slightly... anyone else feel that after a fill?
  9. ok peeps...i just got my first fill today..and it really wasn't bad! A little uncomfortable but not bad! And he DID actually go thru my port incision....glad I didn't know THAT until afterwards... SO anyways, I'm at 5cc's in a 14cc band  And on clear liquids for the rest of the day
  10. yay! Congrats to everyone's NSV's!
  11. <---raises hand!! ME TOO!! I was banded on 7/7 and for the first week and a half was dropping 2-3 pounds EACH DAY...and when I went for my 2week post op, i was down to 223...since then i've gone back up 11 pounds and now its coming down again, but I can DEFINATELY eat more than i 'should'. I get full faster and I can totally feel a difference, but I am excited for my fill, which is THIS THURSDAY:thumbup: Although the needle scares me a little, i know it's all worth it. I'm excited to feel more restriction and have more energy and see weight come off again! Tracy, 5 weeks is a long time! Why don't you give your doc a call and see if you can get in even 2 weeks earlier? I know we're supposed to call if we're in that situation...
  12. that's awesome sweetbean! It's great to hear compliments, but is anyone else finding it hard to accept some of them? Now that i've hit a standstill, i tend to not believe people when they see me and go "omg you are just shrinking"....i mean, thanks, but I'm just not seeing it myself at the moment...i feel frozen...just glad that my fill is this thursday so it can kickstart again!
  13. lol that's a good one I get my first fill this thursday! Excited to see more inches/pounds fall off after that!
  14. wow there are some really HORRIBLE things on here! I've had a few but the one that sticks in my head the most happened in high school... School dance...standing with my friends (who were all pretty and skinny, btw)...this baseball player comes up and asks me to dance. I look at my one friend because SHE liked him and she nodded 'yes' so i went and danced. About half way through the song, that same friend comes up and dances behind him and she's trying to say something. The song ends, the guy kisses me on the forehead and runs away and my friend is standing there and says (after she hit him on the back) that she was trying to get my attention to stop dancing. That jerk was dancing with me because his friends BET him that he woudn't do it, and when I looked over they were all standing there laughing...i ended up being that ridiculous girl who is crying in the bathroom at the dance...and i've never forgotten it. I still can't listen to that song.... HS kids can be so ridiculously rude...the funny thing is, he wasn't even cute! LOL Oh also in 8th grade, my best friend and i were sitting in class looking at pics and one of the guys was looking at a pic of me from the previous year. I had lost like 20 pounds and he goes "wow she looks so much better. If she keeps losing weight, she'll be so pretty"...WTF? My face is still the same and not for nothing, i've been told ALL MY LIFE how "pretty my face is"....not that it's a compliment...why can't people just say "oh you're pretty" instead of "you have a really pretty face, if you would only lose some weight".... However I want to add some of the BEST things i've heard...you know, some of the best compliments have come from kids (who are brutally honest)...one at the daycare I work at. It was picture day and we were about to take the class pic...Josh looks up at me and says 'Miss Barbie, you're so beautiful"... Another was at an Nsync concert  We were in line to get in the stadium and this little girl looks up at me and goes "you're really really pretty"...her mom goes "honey leave her alone" and apologized to me for her daughter 'bothering' me...and the little girl goes "but MOM, she IS so pretty"...so i just laughed and said "thanks..make sure you tell JC that" LOL And my final BEST compliment: I was working in Glendale and actually feeling kinda down on myself. I was about a size 14 at the time (almost my smallest but still felt very fat)..this HOT, gorgeous, looking like a movie star guy walks in smiling and asks me for directions to the movie theatre...so i tell him (all the while telling myself in my head not to stutter! lol) with a big smile, and he starts to walk out..then he runs back in and goes "i just have to tell you, you're unbelievably beautiful"...then just smiled and walked away. I just about passed out! Wish I would have stopped him! lol
  15. Dr. DiBenedetto has two locations near buffalo..one in Lockport (which is fairly close) and one in Rochester (about an hour away)...i'm in Rochester so I can tell you the affiliate hospital here is Rochester General Hospital...I'm not quite sure about his Lockport Hospital. His wife runs the support groups and they are both just fabulous! Everyone is ALWAYS welcome and we have some people who travel very far for the monthly support groups...we have someone who comes down from Canada and a few other ladies who come from about 45 minutes away each month. Our Rochester support groups meet the THIRD wednesday of each month at RGH from 6-8pm. HTH!
  16. they also have *almost* all of these products at GNC or VitaminShoppe!
  17. thanks for all the site posts...what a big help!
  18. What is this 42g protein shot? And where do you get it?
  19. I actually prefer walking outside right now. We have this amazing path that goes along the Erie Canal and it's always just gorgeous...been very humid lately so i haven't been able to walk outside...so i'll do walking tapes inside as well. As far as the gym goes, I used to like it...even before surgery. HATE the machines but love the classes, especially Latin Cardio! I am very excited to get back to it, but not until i'm cleared..which SHOULD be at my first fill this thursday. I did try to go a few weeks ago...just to walk. But the treadmill HURT. No i wasn't going at a fast speed or at a big incline...it just hurt me...
  20. Rachel you DEFINATELY are too full! Especially if liquids don't stay down either...call your doc's office as soon as you can! They'll get you right in..
  21. that's great! Bobbie, how did your first fill go?
  22. it still amazes me with how different each person's surgeon is and the directions they give! I have my fill this coming thursday...as of right now i'm excited for it. I'm not a needle fan so I will probably be a little nervous that day, but everyone says it doesn't hurt so I'm good..and it's all worth it! Shoot, it's not like we didn't know about the needles before choosing the surgery
  23. Ok so i've been feeling a little down because I was losing really well after surgery..now it's been 5 weeks and from my lowest weight after surgery, i'm back up 7 pounds (was more but i lost again...THANKFULLY!)... HOWEVER here's what has made me feel better...I went to the gym the other day to talk to a programmer for when I get my clearance from my surgeon, and she took all of my measurements. Comparing them to my last visit a week before surgery, here's the results: Chest: -4 INCHES Waist: -4 INCHES Hips: -4 INCHES Thighs:-1 inch EACH Arms: -.5 inch EACH Calfs: +.25 inch EACH!!!! I am just beside myself with how many inches i've lost without doing really anything besides walking! It's just motivating me to really work hard now...YAY! How is everyone else doing with NSV's??? I'd love to hear about it!
  24. ok i want to jump in on this...i've been away from the boards for a few weeks and i need to be back! I'll try weighing myself only once a week..or at least track it on the same day each week...i'll make Monday's my WI day...i'll start posting my weekly WI's next monday Barbie
  25. someone on here had her first fill the other day and posted all the pics...so i've seen the needle...just don't want to see in next to me is all...lol I'm excited for it at this point....i was nervous a month ago but i'm READY for food restriction... Glad to hear it's not bad!
