  1. HAPPY 4 month BANDIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!! How have you all done? I wanna hear from all of us 7/7 bandsters!!!!! i've lost about 38 pounds (SINCE surgery, 44 total), almost as many inches, have really great restriction....:cursing::thumbup: I'm so happy! Oh...and i'm losing really well right now :w00t:
  2. 4 months out, i've lost about 38 pounds (SINCE surgery, 44 total), almost as many/if not more inches, have really great restriction....:redface: I'm so happy! Oh...and i'm losing really well right now :cursing:
  3. I have a large 14cc AP band....my first fill was 5cc's and i felt a slight difference for about 2-3 weeks...then i could definately eat a good amount again...but this time, I can't eat bread (i didn't have a lot before but since the fill i've tried ONE piece and no deal), steak or anything too dry whereas it wasn't an issue before....i feel it sooner, i'm full longer, and that's the whole point! :cursing: Yes, he did numb me, but he only gave me one shot of lidocane last time...this time i had two..i think also because i was still healing and tender last time, the lidocane only took the edge off. This time, NO PAIN AT ALL! WOOHOO! Plus it was a smaller needle and he didn't have to push down even close to as much as he did the first fill...yay for being smaller! What's your band size?
  4. Ok so I had my second fill last wednesday (10/28) and what a difference! In two ways....1. this one hurt WAAAAAAY less...not at all actually. So i'm no longer nervous about getting a fill (i'm terrified of needles)...and 2. I can totally feel good restriction. Can't do bread, anything really dry, or steak anymore and that's FINE by me! I'm just so happy to FEEL differently. Now just to work on my workouts...:cursing: They've definately not been what they should be....but that changed as of today! What fill did you all feel a real difference?
  5. sandi1011--> you should pretty much NEVER be hungry! You absolutely need more fill if you are not losing and are hungry....my those are the two signs that we are supposed to look for to let us know that it's time for a fill.... I've heard that in very few cases, the band is enough restriction by itself. It's rare but it does happen. My surgeon actually has a patient like this....she's been to some of the support group meetings and is losing a lot of weight and isn't hungry...she won't get a fill unless that changes...
  6. YAY!!! Congrats...i'm 24 pounds away from posting that myself....
  7. Ok i'm totally guess-timating here...i suddenly have this fear to go shopping. I walk by Lane Bryant and I know in my head that i've lost a lot...and my clothes are ridiculously baggy, even the ones that i went down a size in....BUT i get this fear that i'll go in LB and all the big sizes will be too tight....*Sigh* what a fricken head game.... ANYWAY, here's where i am, roughly..i really will go soon to truly see... HIGHTEST: NOW (4 mo. post op): SZ 6/7 (LB right fit)or 24/26 SZ 18/20 pants SZ 3X tops SZ XL or 18 tops (??) 44DDD/G bra 40/42DDD bra (my girls aren't going ANYWHERE! lol only around is going down..and i'm OK with that!)
  8. yeah being at a sweet spot would be great...just for the continuous WL...DEFINATELY need to exercise more and i'm working on that....i can always see a very clear difference the weeks I work out a few days and the weeks where i only get in one or two days...i'm going to start doing my walking tapes after work every day again...
  9. hey all! Good to see we're all doing well... It's been a little over a month since the last post...how's everyone doing now? I just had my second fill last wednesday...now I'm at 6.5cc's in my 14cc band...i can DEFINATELY feel a difference..i think i could have handled a little more...no more than 7...but we'll see how this goes. My next appointment is in 2 months (12/30)...but again, if i think i need to go sooner i can call... Hope you're all doing well!
  10. hello everyone! Sorry i've been MIA for awhile...glad to see you're all doing well and it's nice to see where everyone is now that we're almost 4 months out.. I just had my second fill this past wednesday (10/28) and now i have 6.5cc's in my 14cc band...i can totally tell a difference:thumbup: AND as of yesterday i am down a total of 5 since WEDNESDAY..thank you fill! lol I'm about to get on the scale in a few minutes and i'll post my WL....but so far here it is: Last week:228 this week: 223 today: **i'll edit this when i get on the scale this morning! I don't know about you guys, but until my fill last wednesday, i was stuck between 228-231 for the past 4 weeks....it was VERY frustrating! I'm just so happy to have broken my plateau and i know i'm gonna be dropping like crazy now (since i can workout again fully)...YAY! Hope everyone else is having luck~ AND WELCOME, mrsjlbrown! We're always happy for new banders
  11. wow it's so interesting to hear how different some doctor's are. I just had my second fill this past wednesday..i had to do liquids for the rest of the day and then thursday i could start food. Carefully, small bites, and common sense...i always start with softer foods and i'm staying away from bread but i've had no issues. I can definately feel a difference though... All the advice on here is great! But if you are having any questions, always ask your doctor  Congrats everyone on you WL so far!
  12. LOL i had to quote this...i used to be THE SAME WAY! I beat out every single guy i knew, and some of the girls I know....now I occasionally do an 'old burp' but most of the time they're these smaller ones...still big in comparison to a regular person's i guess, but seriously small compared to my old ones.....
  13. sweattea25--don't give up! Everyone's journey is different...lots of doctor's don't give fills when they first place the band. My doc is one of the best in the state and he is firmly against it! I did'nt get my fill until 6 weeks out (august 27th) and my next fill isn't until october 28th. Did you ask why they were cancelling? Have you tried to get in sooner? Call and bother them every day (nicely)...pick a different time each day to call and see if they've had any cancellations that you can take. When you do finally get in, tell your doc your concerns....if it doesn't get better after that, then look for a new doctor. My mom had gastric bypass a few years ago and she's doing wonderfully...but think about why you chose the band instead of bypass...i know for me it was because it IS adjustable...no malabsorption....and not for nothing, but a lot of GB patients regain their weight after about 3 years post op...and a lot of those patients get a lap band after... I've hit a plateau as well but I also know there is more that i can be doing. I'm going to work harder the next 2 weeks and if i still haven't lost, then i'm going to call to see if i can get in for another fill... I know it's frustrating, but be patient! (i know, i hate hearing that too!) We had our surgeries a week apart (i was on july 7th) and we want instant gratification, but loss with the band is slower...have you lost any inches? Get measured, because i didn't think i had lost any, but i've lost 4 inches on every measurement on my torso...so chest, hips, and waist....and that was BEFORE my fill...i'm sure it's more now...actually i KNOW it's more now...i just have to go to the gym to get remeasured.... STAY POSITIVE!! Call the office again tomorrow and start calling until you get your appointment....goodluck!
  14. lol mine makes funky noises sometimes too and I noticed it more so after my first fill (aug 28th). I also didn't feel much of anything the day i was filled until about 12 hours later...i noticed i could USUALLY feel my band more at night the first few days after the fill...now i just eat less and stay satisified (not full) longer, but dealing with that mental hunger can "f" a person up! I've caught myself eating sometimes when i'm not truly hungry but i THINK i am...i'm working on that...and i'm thankful that when it does happen, not only do i realize it but i won't really eat much because the band wont' let me...i feel it right away... i'm going to give my band 2 more weeks of me really really working hard, and if i still dont; see a loss and can eat more than i need, i'm going to get another fill... Right now I have 5cc's in my 14cc band..
  15. love this thread! I'll be glad when I can... ...buy anything i want in ANY store ...look cute in everything i buy  ...cross my legs! ...have fun taking pics instead of making sure the camera is above me for a good angle ...give my thighs the divorce they've been asking for (no more "chub rub" LMAO) ...get into VIP because I"M the hot girl...not because i'm friends with the hot girl ...be the HOT girl ...believe people when they tell me i'm small/skinny ...be in ONEderland (by mid october) and wear my size 10's (February!)
  16. highest: 264 surgery: 234 (7/7/09) today: 226.1 Thanks to my monthly 'friend' i was up 4 m-f this past week...then saturday i was 226.1 and stayed there yesterday and today. Glad for coming back down and staying the past few days..now it's time for the number to SERIOSULY drop
  17. congrats!!!! That's an awesome WL!
  18. wow, every 2 weeks? I had my first fill last thursday and I dont go back until October 28th...2 months later...It's interesting how different each doctor is. I'm hoping that I'll still feel restriction until then, but I plan on calling if I don't....they told us to do that in some of the support meetings...
  19. voodoo is right..rosehip oil is in the natural skincare line that i use and it works wonders! If you want to try that line as well, you can get it at Sephora. It's called KORRES and the product you would want is the Wild Rose Oil pen... I've also used Mederma on other scars and they disappeared  HTH!
  20. KEVIN-->Goodluck! But, if you are getting sick, you might be too full! Call your doc because if you keep getting sick a few times a week, you can damage your esophagus and will then need a complete unfill, or even have the band removed...call your doc and keep us updated! Mellabella78--> was this your first fill? Just curious to see if your doc put in all 6 cc's the first time...mine did 5 this past thursday (my first fill) and i feel great! I get full so quickly and don't get hungry again for at least 4-5 hours :frown:
  21. from what i've heard, it is. I guess it can take up to a week? I may be off on the timeline, but from what I've been reading lately you don't always feel it right away.
  22. How is everyone doing today? I got on the scale this AM..down 2lbs from yesterday and 3 from thursday (first fill)! I can eat only a little at a time and so far stay full for anywhere from 4-6 hours :frown: Hope everyone else is doing well!
