    Feeling weak and dizzy

I had this the first week or so...I was getting plenty of water but I think mine was low blood sugar. I added a little juice to my water and had some broth. That helped me but I would call your team also!

    How long?

I had read and heard about the 20 plus pound weight loss in the first few weeks...and I was excited! However, it didn't happen for me. I am 3 and a half weeks now and it is starting a steady drop....slower but better than I have done in the last 20 years. I was upset the first two week too. I was asking why I went through all of this to lose a few pounds while eating 300 calories a day. If you could stand to put your scale away please do so! I promise it will start to come off. The body is in shock and what you need to do is let it heal...

    New to group

Welcome! I just got sleeved on the 7th of June. These boards are wonderful and the people are amazing, supportive, informative and helpful! I gave up caffeine before also and soda...(didn't completely give up alcohol...). It is great you are getting in good habit now. A great one to start is to carry a water bottle and get to where you wouldn't leave it at home....I tried to make mine like my cell phone...don't be far from it. After surgery you will find it is the times you wouldn't think of to sip, sip, sip that helps you get it in...(in the car, line for groceries, waiting for kids...ect). Good luck! This is a great gift to yourself!!!
  6. I woke up in the middle of the night and kind of forgot and started to drink more than a sip and it didn't feel like it would be a problem. Our new stomachs don't change how much liquid we can drink...maybe not as fast. Maybe, other than healing, we are told to sip over 20 mins so the liquid can help with hunger? I am wishing your next food phase gets here fast! Mine too! But keep the slow sipping even if you can take it faster...maybe that will help?
  7. I've been drinking protein shakes, water, broth, sugar free Popsicles and crystal light! I'm on day 5 and I don't have to sip one ounce anymore. I can drink it in 1 shot. Maybe it's just in my mind but I feel like the liquid isn't doing it for me anymore. I can't wait until next week so I can eat some pureed foods Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Day2

I was sleeved on the 7th. I didn't have a drain? It is curious the different ways different doctors approach the surgery and the phases of diet. I had read a lot here and woke up asking where the button for pain med was and they told me I could have a Tylenol. I found the protein easier than the water and when I was feeling really lightheaded I started juice/water and that has helped so much. I was never a juice drinker because I have been on a (failed) diet my whole life but I am glad I started that! Good luck! And congratulations...I think this is a great gift we have given ourselves.
  10. I was sleeved on the 7th and feel like I feel hungry. It mainly happens when I have to fix food for my family or see a commercial. I have started just watching recorded shows so I can fast forward through the food. I even record shows I am watching live and let them get 10 mins ahead...it is a small power trip to speed by the food! What liquids are you using? I was just doing water and protein shakes but felt much better when I added juice...hang in there and I will try too! When do you move to your next phase?

    Finally Sleeved on 6/8

Congrats! I was done on the 7th! My neck and jaw hurt and I think they must have had to position it to do what they needed to do....

    TRICARE

Update...I was approved by Tricare for the sleeve. I am having surgery tomorrow. I had to pay co-pays and for the nutricianist visit. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hospital waiting room gitters

I am not comfortable in hospitals. I even get anxious at the doctors. I have started bringing an aroma therapy bottle with me (I use grapefruit but you should pick a smell that suits you). It will not erase all you went through with your mom but smells are the strongest trigger to emotions for me. I guess I am trying to replace the smells I hate with one I like. I am sorry about your mom...it is wonderful you are doing this for you and family.

    swimsuits that cover loose skin?

I got a set from Coolibar. If you wait for sales it isn't too bad. I got a swim shirt and a pair of Capri pants with an attached skirt. I wanted to hide due to weight but all my friends loved them and all got some too! They wear great in the water and dry fast when you get out.

    TRICARE

I have Tricare Prime and my surgery is on May 18th. I have not seen the final ok but the doctor I am working with said it should be no problem and they have many Tricare patients. I can get the sleeve or bypass. The sleeve is new to their list for approval. I asked my primary care for a referral and I had it in less than a week. I researched the area for the surgeon I wanted to go with and checked on their website that they worked with Tricare. The doctor I am using is listed in the Tricare as a general surgeon. The long wait was for an opening with this doctor. Once I got in his office together he and Tricare required: One appointment with psych. (This is covered under Tricare Prime). One appointment with a nutritionist. (This was not covered and I paid $75 to see the nutricianist in his office). An appointment with my primary to be released for surgery. (Regular copay). An appointment at the hospital for prep (blood work, ecg... No copay) If you are getting the sleeve my doctor requires an endoscopy to make sure you are good. (I don't think this was a Tricare requirement). The surgeons office just called and asked me to start on some Vitamin B12, D and Iron due to my blood work. They seem sure I am good to get the surgery in 3 weeks. I am staying optimistic and will update when I more info or if anyone has any questions...
