    Pickles and olives

I eat both in moderation. I like the mini dills and mini bread and butter. Love black olives. I keep to the mini for pickled because one day I'm good with a food and the next time I might not be. Those are foods approved by my plan.

    Sleeve and hiatal hernia

I had a sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. My reflux is at the moment less than prior to surgery. This goes to show how every doctor is different.
  3. I had that for awhile. The first 2 weeks sucked badly. It's still happening but not every day.

    Post-surgery exercise/ 5K

I was cleared at my 4 weeks visit to do a 5k. I only made it 2.5k due onto the course being cross country trail and I was no where near being able to traverse the *hill of agony* (real name of that hill). I waited till I caught my breath after running and sipped away. Worst case you guzzle and you puke it right back up. I've done it once. It wasn't pleasant. I participated in a turkey trot on Thanksgiving. I did the 1 mile and improved my time over 5 minutes. Best advice: listen to your body! Good luck!

I hate that I had this surgery

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I can't imagine the frustration and despair you are verbalizing. I hope that your doctor will consider doing a scope to see if there are any abnormalities that formed. Good luck on Monday. Let us know how that goes.

    25 days in hospital...need advice!

You have the right to get a 2nd 3rd 4th opinion. Go to a different hospital if he has to go again. A lot of times they can help recommend a doctor. You could see if a GI doctor can look at him. Maybe it's something triggered by the surgery. I'm sorry he is going through all these complications

    Nuts

I eat them a lot. Only 2 months out. I like almonds the best cashews. Peanuts aren't *technically * a nut. They are a legume. But that doesn't mean a thing to me. Just a fun fact. I'm down 32 lbs. I obviously can't eat a full portion of anything at the moment but I do measure out the serving size. Those small sleeves at Gas stations are awesome.

    Unflavored protein powder?

I use GENEPRO. It has no taste for me in hot drinks or thicker drinks. It also mixed well in oatmeal.

    NSV

I bought a dress off the rack at size L. It's not tight at all. My son is able to wrap his arms completely around me for a hug.
  14. First off I will contact my doctor. However I want to hear from you guys on this and how you dealt with it. I was able to eat meat, like steaks chicken, lean pork, ground meats up until about week ago. I'm not sure why but now animal Based Proteins hurt or sit like a rock in my stomach. Its,taking an hour or more for that heaviness pain to go away. I hate that feeling. I am chewing throughly, taking my time eating, serving the proper portion for this stage of my diet. I've even just ate a couple of bites and still had the feeling. I've been trying to eat plant based proteins and or depend on my genepro. Since I don't really have an experience on eating a vegetarian style, I'm struggling. I Pintrest recipes and read up on it however I worry if I am going to eat too many carbs or not get enough protien . My team pushes eating good proteins pretty hard. I do understand why. I just don't get how I can go from eating and tolerating to not being able to. I was sleeved 9/19/16. No real issues other than the normal bitching and moaning newly sleeved folks grapple with. I appreciate your input. Thanks

    Animal Based Protein Problem

I followed my plan. I was able to transition from mush to solids as tolerated around 10/19. I was fine at first but now not so much. I am giving those goods a rest and try again later. I find it confusing how it can be fine then not.

    Animal Based Protein Problem

I take it back on the time frame. It's been about 3 weeks. Time is a blur at times.

    NSV

I put on my son's track and field warm up and it fit! Size large top size medium bottoms. Bottoms a bit too tight but doable if I had an emergency need for bottoms. Top fits really nice.

    Nutrition Book

weight loss surgery cookbook for dummies is a good starting point. Amazon for 13.50 the everything post op weight loss cookbook is another good one for food choices 11.55 amazon Nutrition for dummies if you want an academic look into nutrients. Google protien sources. You can educate yourself on things then talk to your nutritionist or Dr to make sure you are keeping in line. Read your labels. You can learn a lot from the nutrient breakdown and ingredients. If you don't know what you are looking at, Google it. Obviously not everything is correct on the Internet but it's a start. If your local community college has a Nutrition class, take it. Our's has community based classes that only cost 25-70 dollars and runs 6-8 weeks. It's a non credit course but you can learn a lot. My favorite thing to do is Pintrest my meals. Then for the not healthy ingredients I good replacements for it. Or I search for skinny version of whatever. You can still have a lot of fun making and enjoying food. Last night I made PFChangs chicken lettuce wraps with roasted honey garlic cauliflower . Sooo yummy. Don't get stuck in a box of eating an egg for bfast, shake for lunch, fruit or veggies for snack, and fish or chicken for dinner. (Unless you like routine) try new things.
