    Health Care

Here's the link for a Gallup poll (and I don't think anybody would accuse gallup of being politically biased) done yesterday: No Clear Mandate From Americans on Healthcare Reform Verdict: 48% against, 43% for. Higher negative numbers than their October poll Well first, The AMA is totally different different form the doctors. The AMA is a lobby, dedicated to promoting the interests of its members. I thought President Obama was going to quit dealing with lobbies?? Anywho, here's the link to the infamous poll that said 45% of docs would consider quitting if the current healthcare bill was passed (I know, it's 2 months old) I'm opposed to the bill, so which of those things am I? I believe the second amendment pretty much agrees with her I believe Thomas Jefferson said that first

    Lossing hope

Hi big. Sorry you're having a tough time. You HAVE to make the wise food choices, even with a band. So make a fresh start and stay away from the bad stuff. You can do it!
  7. Hi PMiller. Since you're getting a sleeve, you might want to check out our sister site, sleevetalk. Of course, you're still welcome here with open arms, lol!!

    Health Care

Such a funny post from Cleo's mom Heehee...... 1) The majority of Americans do NOT support this particular bill. If they did, it have already been passed. It's that simple. 2) Most doctors do NOT support the current bill. In fact, quite a few have said that they would consider leaving the field if this bill passes. 3) through 8) All of those organizations are medical lobbies. Remember when President Obama was preaching against the "Old Washington" lobbys? I guess that was before he needed their support. What other industry that he had previuosly demonized did he also need? Oh yeah.....big Pharma. 9) AARP is now mostly an organization that makes its profits from selling medi-gap insurance. That's a bit of a profit-driven incentive right there (which I don't have such a huge problem with, but I remember how much the Obama administration hates profit and capitalism). Riiiiiight. So if an individual doesn't support this bill, they must be 1)racists, 2) Republicans, 3) Christians, or 4&5)Heartless. There's no other possible reason to oppose the bill. Now that's keeping a really open mind. There it is: The ultimate rebuttal on the lips of all liberals.....George Bush. Why don't we have healthcare reform? George Bush. Why is the unemployment rate pushing 10%? George Bush. What causes tsunamis? George Bush. Get over it already.....He's not in the white house anymore. That's not true though. Public option would likely drive private insurance out of business That all sounds great. But you don't have to have public option to achieve any of those things you just listed. Again, if the majority of Americans agreed with you, then this would have already passed. As it now stands, they won't even vote on the bill until sometime in 2010. I am opposed to the bill. I advocate for the Americans who would have to pay for this monstrosity with an already de-valued dollar (because President Obama's treasury has decided to buy our own debt). American can't afford this bill.

    Pjtp...again!

Maybe regional differences in cramp names, lol! When my quads cramped, I called that a "charlie horse". Opposite them are the hamstring cramps, or a "hammie". Anything below the knee was just referred to as generic "calf cramp". What we always referred to as "shin splints" were the sharp pains opposite the calf (on the front side of the legs) that appeared after repetitive motions (like running). No, potassium can cause cause cramps too. In fact all the electrolytes can cause cramps (whether the levels be too high or too low). Hey, don't slander the lone star state! We do have internet capabilities in Texas!! LMAO!! Looks great!
  13. Nope Kellee, it sounds like you are right on track. Remember, right now your doc has you still on mushies because he feels like your stomach is still healing. During this "healing" phase, first priority is getting that band healed in correctly. Weight loss during this time is frosting on the cake. The time between when can eat real food and when you get your first fill is often referred to as "bandster hell".

    Pre-op Medical visits

Probably the simplest and surest way would be for you to call your insurance and ask them, prty.

  17. Hi Sue, welcome to lapbandtalk! For specific feedback on particular surgeons, you might want to check in the "doctors and hospitals" subforum on the homepage......you'll probably have better luck there.

    Sleep Study Question

I'm not a lady, but I am a sleep therapist. You certainly may sleep in your bra if that's what you want to do. The only things that will touch your skin on your torso are the electrodes (either 2 or 3, depending on how the lab does things) that will let the tech keep track of your heartbeat. The best thing to do is to call the lab ahead of time, tell them you are most comfortable sleeping in your bra, and ask them if that will be a problem. If they won't let you, cancel that appointment and find another lab.
