Ques. about vomiting post op
plain replied to mondk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most docs want to minimize the chance of vomiting post-op, because it can be complicate healing. My doc prescribed a patch to be applied 24 hrs before the surgery and a liquid anti - emetic for after the surgery. -

Bad stuck episode-my own fault
plain replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tracy, the band helps smaller portion sizes satisfy us more. It does NOT do anything to our brains to tell us "that is too much food". As such, there is a pretty steep learning curve to living a banded life. What helped me was to try to eat as little as possible and see how much food it took to satisfy me. Don't give up.....eventually you'll get a much better "feel" as to what your portion sizes should be. As for the quality of your food choices....the band doesn't help there, either. So, stick with it and make good choices and good things will be in your future very soon!!! -
Fantastic! Welcome to the world of being an official bandster. I hope you have a speedy recovery!!

Hi Heather. Welcome to lapbandtalk. It sounds like you are are determined to make a change, and that is the biggest part of the struggle. Good luck on your journey!!

New to Group. How full will I be?
plain replied to Bermuda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Here's my theory, Benway. As fat folk, we've distorted our feeling of "full". In fact, the word "full" implies that there isn't any room left. A better way to describe the band would be to say that it helps you feel satisfied, not "full". Now that I'm banded, that feeling of "fullness" (like I can't eat another bite) is the enemy.......I try to see how little I can eat and still be satisfied. Really the band is only a tool. It's up to the person to follow the rules to make the band work. Me personally, I love, love, love my band. Will you love it? Only you can answer that. So keep on researching and asking questions until you feel like you can make an informed decision. Good luck to you whatever you decide!! -
Well, I see your point, but it IS their religion. Follow the rules or face the consequences. And I hold that standard to any / all religions, including my own. Should the baptists vote to disown / impeach / ban (I'm not sure of the terminology, because we baptists are a pretty forgiving lot in general) me because I wasn't following one of the rules, I guess I'd have to choose between following the rules of the church or doing whatever it was that got me in trouble.

Hi there coupe! Welcome to the Men's room!

She IS cute, isn't she? Why do most politicians have to be so.........not cute?

Stop right there. I cannot continue. I have arachniphobia (sp?) Mostly me too. I'm ok with garden spiders and tiny spiders, but those huge gawking tarantulas scare the crap outta me!!! And......that rules out any chance of me attending a LBT get together in your town, LOL!!! PJTP: I posted this on my facebook, but for those of you that aren't my friends on there, I actually got to meet a member of LBT in real life this last weekend. It turns out that we have a mutual friend. Small world, eh?? Anywho, the meeting went very well, and I had a great time. It makes me think (for the first time since all the ugliness on here happened) that maybe it could be fun to meet up in the real world. Who knows....stranger things have happened!!

I agree with you here, C's Mom. I am a Christian, but I think it's a little condescending for a leader of ANY church to try and influence their congregation. I agree that churches have the RIGHT to say whatever they want, but I still don't like it. But....didn't you say that you agreed that the church had the right to do whatever it wants within that church?? The church can deny communion to whoever they want, for whatever reason they want. The way I see it, the representative can either vote the way his church wants, or he can accept their religious sanctions, or he can find another church.

Question about Damage from SOda?
plain replied to itsalmosttime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds wise. Most docs give different advice, so best to stick to what one's local doc says. Sharing your own doc's advice is great.......implying that your own doc has the only correct way is kind of foolish. -
how do you know if your obstructed
plain replied to kenterben's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Ken. I think your best bet would be to call the doc's office and ask them explicitly. -
Hells yeah, Chele! -11 lbs is great......but what's better is the way you're doing it. Eating healthy is a huge part of the battle, IMO. Don't fret too much about the portions now, because the band will take care of that. You're doing fantastic!

Just checking in, PJTP people. I've been slowly working more days than nights lately, and that severely curtails my LBT time.
-
As a Christian, I will answer that. This plan will do more harm than good. Simple enough? God mandated that we (his church) take care of the poor, not the government. Oh. my. goodness. I think that statement says it all. Kartman, dems don't have the hearts & minds of the American people. If the public supported this bill, it would have passed yesterday. Why do you think democratic reps and senators are dragging their feet? It's because they know the voters are against the bill.

Question about Damage from SOda?
plain replied to itsalmosttime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You would probably be best served by asking your doctor this question. I know some folks that say that their docs forbid soda (for the carbonation), and I know some folks that say their docs are ok with soda.....so in this case see where your doc stands.
