    The miracle on the Hudson

And your opinion is fine, Green. If you had started a thread saying what good luck it was that everybody survived, and somebody posted a pretty venomious response, I'd call them out on it as well.

If you don't cry watching this trailer

Looks powerful. I hope no propaganda is inserted......It's been my experience that HBO can be a bit inflammatory.

    Inauguration... what did you think?

If Obama limits earmarks, he'll be the shiz. And be waaaaaaay closer to balancing the budget.

    Feeling VERY hungry :(

I had stalled a little in my weightloss. My doc suggested upping my protein intake to about 100g / day (taking into account my sex, build, and workout routine). No way I can get that amount of protein without supplementation, so I work in some Protein drinks during my awake hours.....my point is that a protein-rich diet has been my friend. So what is your idea of "speedy" weightloss, Jill? I am scared of losing weight too quickly, for the reasons my buddy bambam mentioned.
  6. The truth is that many docs have different feelings on this subject. Like Jacqi mentioned, the most common length is 2 weeks. I've talked to some who had a longer diet, and I've talked to some that just had to be NPO before midnight prior to surgery. The truth is that only the surgeon can tell you with any certainty how long his preop diet is, if he even has one. PS- I can't recall anybody dying from the preop diet.....they only wanted to, LOL

    Did I slip?!

Well, you're right on the mark about contacting your doc. Really, medical tests are the only way to know 100% that you've slipped. Having said that (and with zero ability to diagnose you), I'd think that if all you did was walk 3 weeks post op, you're probably fine.....maybe just pulled one o' them pesky abdominal muscles.
  8. Hi Julie. I think you are on the right track with stopping when you think you need to. A wise old lapbander once told me that as fat folk, most of our perceptions of "full" are flawed; That most of us have gotten "full" confused with "stuffed".....full simply means "not hungry". For me, especially in the beginning, it was helpful to eat a small portion, then stop for a bit and ask myself "Am I still hungry?"......not "Am I full", but Do I still have physical hunger. In general, I think we shouldn't rely on the band to "tell" us when we've had enough food via signals ("soft stop", or otherwise). The band's job is to help us feel less hungry with a smaller portion of food. Eventually, you'll learn what size portion is right for you. Good luck!
  9. Hey there Odjii. First of all, there are a lot of us dudes running around on Lapbandtalk, so welcome to the flock, LOL. Do not be ashamed of yourself. Consistantly strive to move forward. From your questions, it sounds like you are doing just that. Steps to begin your journey, eh? A seminar in your area, where bariatric surgeons give an overview of gastric banding (as well as possibly other weight loss surgeries) would be a very sensible start. Good luck to you, man.

Plus-Size Photos in Latest Albums Section

Nope. You can express your opinion here in "the lounge", no problem! Now if you want a little more vigorous discussion, post in "rants & raves". Having said that: You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I didn't see anything offensive in any of that art, but since there weren't any men in any of those pics, I guess I can't personally identify like you could.

Hang in there, want. You can do this.
  13. Sometimes it takes several fills to feel restriction. In the meantime, it's best to follow your doc's guidelines. Stay away from the chicken!! Just because you can eat something doesn't mean you should. Hang in there.

    almost 3 weeks out

Hi, welcome to lapbandtalk, mountainmomma. Sounds like you are doing great! Do you live in the Austin area? I went to college in San Marcos and fell in love with the hill country. If all the family (both my wife's and mine) weren't in east Texas, I would live in the hill country.
  15. Hahahahaha....yes, exactly.

    The miracle on the Hudson

Maybe not. Maybe V-Queen was just having a bad day. But....Patty posted something pretty generic, along the lines of "Thank God everybody survived the plane crash", and V responded with 1) how the media was over-covering the story, and 2) how the media was glossing over child rape, or something like that. It just seemed a little much......like somebody lecturing me about the supposed "separation of church and state" when I say "God bless you" in response to a sneeze.
  17. It's not something the wife and I are into, but I had one ex that was HEAVILY into anal....like it was a fetish with her, or something (she said it felt more intimate)....and one ex that (when she found out I had some experience with anal with the 1st ex) wanted to try it because she was curious. For the second ex, it wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible....we only did it a couple of times that way. Honestly, as a dude, I much prefer the vaginal sensation. Anal is a little TOO tight, and you have to be ever mindful of the need to re-lube......Too much thinking for me. Sorry if TMI.
  18. That's why you earned "Amateur GYN of 2008", man...lol Donna, my wife went through the same thing. I finally had to have penis reduction surgery. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread....

    Inauguration... what did you think?

I didn't vote for Obama....but he's my president now. His speech was, like most of his past ones, impressive. I hope he can get America back on her feet. Well....it was pretty cold there, no? I don't know how long I could have stayed out in that kind of weather.

What a good wife! I did not vote for Obama. However, even though I might have some policy disagreements, I will support our leader. To do anything else would be, IMO, un-patriotic. Kicking ass! Hello! That's no small victory!!
