I hate it when people post just to post.....

Ambien / Lunesta is the most-oft prescribed drug in my circle (among board-registered sleep docs). Weak doesn't = inferior. A lot of family practice or general practice docs prescribe antidepressant meds, anti-anxiety meds, antipsychotics, benzos, and / or antihistimines for sleep (those are all used off-label for sleep).

  4. Man, that's one of the most eloquent posts I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I'm Native American too, and I wasn't disgusted. Our ancestors were treated quite badly in the past. What country didn't treat their indigenous peoples badly? It's time to move on. As Kat stated, government reparitions have only made the problem that much worse.... Actually, they did. Thus the persecution of "witches". All the original settlers wanted was to not have to join the Church of England.....they were certainly not as cavalier with religions that weren't theirs. Nope. Seperation of church and state merely means that the goverment can't legally make you practice a certain religion. It does not mean that there can be no mention of God anywhere public, or on government property. The mention of God on our money, and in our pledge.....how is that forcing a particular belief? Wasa is an atheist, yet she still spends her money.....and hopefully says the pledge (even if she chooses to leave off the "under God" part) when appropriate. The government hasn't jailed her yet for being an atheist. Like it or not, our legal code is deeply rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition.....As are the codes of most western countries. You may not like that, but what's the alternative? And Beth, arguing religion with an atheist is like 2 people arguing about which flavor pie tastes best......You're not going to make her see your side, so don't waste your time.
  5. You're right, Rod....Sorry aboot the thread hijack. Carry on with legit questions, people.

PJTP: I have to find a "horror movie" buddy. I'm wanting to see "The Unborn", "My Bloody Valentine", and "Friday the 13th"....and my wife will not accompany me. Has anybody been to any of the aforementioned movies? If so, any good?

No, I totally get that part.....it's the doc that would allow this that concerns me a little. The band (as you know, 'cause you're a smartie) is meant to work with solid, real food. If you can't tolerate that, and your doc is arguing with a slight unfill......recipe for trouble.
  9. Brad, it's not that painful, but there are consequences......you might have to buy the kids a new jump rope.
  10. I don't know why getting a bj is ok....maybe because the recipient isn't getting penetrated? Hmmmmmm..... Sorry I had to be the one to break it to ya, Glouc......

Ok, I thought you meant, like lately. Although, if my math is correct, shots on the 2nd and 3rd would have put baby LJM around 33 weeks? Back in the day when I was hanging in the nursery, docs usually cut off the steroid shots around week 34. Of course, I do live in the backwoods.....it's very possible that we do things different here. For example, during childbirth, if the woman asks for an epidural, she's given a thick leather strap to bite on. Ambien is one of the weakest of the sleep aids commonly prescribed. 75% is typically out of your system after 6 hours I haven't seen the series, but I read the 3 "Dexter" books. I thought they were great, until the 3rd book....then it goes a little weird / supernatural.... Sick, I know I'm a buttinski, but please be very careful. I think this is kind of a bad habit to get into. Biochemically speaking, the only cure for a hangover is to wear supplemental oxygen while "sleeping off" the evening's activities. Oops, sorry. I told my wife that was somebody's driveway, but she wouldn't listen.... !?! Well.....you're never too old. BTW, ingesting the THC is really not doing it justice. Ya really have to smoke it. If you're into that sort of thing.

Do like I do.....subsist on optimism and joy. And occasionally, on the flesh of the homeless.

The topic of sleep quality in an acute care setting intrests me very much. In fact, it the subject of my research project. Baby LJM is waaaaaaaay too far along for that. His lungs are already formed, and they'll be put to good use very soon, from the sounds of it........glad I'm done with the crying babies, LOL
  14. Nah. I'm a southern baptist in a small Texas town smack in the middle of the bible belt, and people can pretty much wear anything they want (the idea is to be respectful of God......so maybe not anything....so far no assless chaps have showed up). The old oft-quoted and laughed at rules of the southern baptist conventionlike the no dancing and no "mixed bathing" (lads and gals swimming in the same area at the same time) were supposed to help tamp down lustful thoughts. Yeah right....Anybody that was a teenager knows how effective that would be....but those things are kinda old-school southern baptist. My church has dance get togethers and swim parties for the youth (I have been trying for the last 10 years to pass myself off as a youth, but they always stop me at the door).

  16. Well.....kinda. It is extremely important to have a good water, vegetable, and fiber intake. But it would appear there is not yet a consensus among the experts as to whether poop floating or sinking is superior. I asked a gastroenterologist in the elevator the other this poop question and she just laughed and laughed and finally said "it depends on who you ask".
  17. Hey, no worries! And don't worry about the questions....Get back on track now with the plan. After all, it's for your protection and long term success. Most every doc is different RE: fills. My doc tries to space the fills about 6 weeks or so. I know it's difficult, but try to be patient. Even though you don't have much weight to lose, relative to some, it will be much better for you to lose it gradually. Hang in there! You can do it.
  18. You'll probably be ok for surgery, but......no more cheating! Dig in girl! You can totally do this.

*raises hand I am! I need some sleep!
  20. Yes, you could be harming yourself. When you eat solid food, your stomach then has to digest it. During that digestion, the stomach churns and moves. That stomach movement could be very bad for the fresh stitches holding the band in place. So quit eating solid food right now and follow your doctor's plan. What alarms me even more is that you say you're "not that obese" after you've lost only 10 lbs.....right after you 'fessed up to not being able to stay on liquids.....and then you seem to want permission to eat until your first fill. I'm a little concerned about your state of mind. If you want to be successful with the band, at some point you're going to have to realize that the band won't do all the work.

If you don't cry watching this trailer

IDK......Seems like the only accurate judge of whether a war is "just" is history. I think most of us today would say that WWII was worth supporting, but at the time there was a strong isolationist movement advocating that America mind her own business. Most of us now would agree that Vietnam was a totally FUBAR situation, but at the time fear of communism was a very real, concrete idea.
  23. I'm starting to suspect that maybe we're reading a little too much into this......
  24. You're due in Mexico in less than a month to get a band placed and you're asking about side effects? Respectfully, I suggest that you need to talk to a doctor about this. Personally, I love my band......but not everybody that has been banded feels that way. That's why an impartial source is sooooo important when it comes to a huge decision like whether to get weightloss surgery, or which surgery is best suited for you. Is it a good decision? It was for me. Will it be a good decision for you? Nobody on here can answer that for you. Talk to some professionals, get the info, and make the choice that is good for you. Good luck.
