Kinda. The thing about Ambien is that you're supposed to take it when you can sleep undisturbed fro 7-8 hours. In the hospital, the nurses are going to disturb you every 2-4 hours checking vitals.......so Ambien isn't the best for acute hospital stays.....and some people have those weird sleepwalking symptoms even when they follow directions. I've found most of my patients that happens to are taking the Ambien, then will read or watch TV until they feel sleepy. Big no-no.....but I'm sure you'll appreciate this response since you're probably having your baby right now!! Yikes! I think a good name would be Jos.....er....Trey. And it's uber helpful for stalkers like me!

Are there any legal products for improving athletes? performance?
plain replied to Joshua's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
400 meters is pretty much an all-out sprint. I'd say just lose the extra weight. Forgive the blunt answer, but....why are you asking this question here? Have you been banded? We don't get a lot of competitive athletes here that admit to being overweight and then want a supplement to help their performance. Are you wanting a legal supplement to help you lose the extra weight? How much weight are we talking about? I guess I just need some more details to further answer your question. -
Why do women have anal sex?
plain replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Uh, I don't think that would go over so well..... "Hey Guys - a sex educator told me that a lot of rich and powerful heterosexual men like to be anally penetrated by their wives, so what the hell are we waiting for? Yeeeee- Hawwwwww" -
I'm no misogynist....I'm more a misanthrope. What I should have said was: "Somebody needs to kick him in the mangina" I'm still all about the ladies (even if they're not all about me).

WHy didn't anyone tell me....????
plain replied to NoPBJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WannaB, your doctor either lied to you , or he is an idiot. NoPBJ, put me in the "I think you're too tight" camp. And seriously consider seeing somebody else.......If somebody tells you you're supposed to feel stuck, then they 1) haven't a clue as to how this thing works, or 2) don't care about you and just want you in and out as soon as possible. Now on feeling full..... One of the wisest things I've ever read on here was that, as fatties, many of us have gotten the feeling of "full" mixed up with the feeling of "stuffed". Now we have to re-train ourselves. Eat very slowly until you are no longer hungry. When you're no longer hungry, you're full. I know that sounds simplistic to the point of being snarky, but (for me at least) it was very true.......and took quite awhile for me to learn that point. Also, like everybody else said, exercise is very important. You can do it. Don't give up now. -
I'm not familiar with this.....what does it test for?

Hi Maricela. There's a section called "local support groups" on here that breaks people down by geographical location. Click USA, then Texas, and then there are numerous sections under Texas. I think you'll get more hits if you try that. Good luck!

Hello from one nervous Biker
plain replied to iradi8fortheusa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey there nervous biker! Why you gotta be spreading isotopes around like that? LOL Your story sounds a lot like mine. I'm a big guy.....always have been. My struggles with my weight stemmed from my portion sizes. I could put a lot of food away in a sitting. That's why the band has worked for me. So, I'm not trying to give you the hard sell on the band, or anything. Everybody has to make that choice for themselves. But I am glad you managed to find us here. There's a lot of information to be unearthed, if you'll snoop around a bit. Good luck! -
Hey Lauren, welcome to Lapbandtalk. I feel ya on the beer thing, but I haven't had one since my surgery. In the big picture, it's a small price to pay. RE: bandsters your age and before / after pics, there are sections that divide bandsters up by age. I think you'll have better luck if you check there. And there is a thread that has, like 100+ pages of before / after pics (I think it's in the "General Discussion" section). Take a look around.....there's a lot to find! Good luck!

Should prostitution be legal?
plain replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't think anybody could run Wasa off :bored: -
We all know LJM will probably be on her laptop as she births that bebe......there's no getting her off that thing.:bored: Weiner? We're not talking about a man here.....Somebody needs to kick him in the vagina. I think I would have sent them $50 in rolled up pennies. No matter what shipping on that bad boy turned out to cost.

Should prostitution be legal?
plain replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Right, but there is a big difference between knowing when others are wrong and telling them they are wrong. This is where I think you got off on the wrong foot on here, Patty. I personally think it is far more powerful to be a positive Christian role model than to condem others in a negative way. Christian to Christian, we both know that God is ultimately who will judge. Who can know the mind of God? I honestly believe that there is no way any of us can know who won't "make the cut" into Heaven, because we don't have God's wisdom, insight, or mercy. Therefore, for me to tell somebody that they're going to hell, or that they're a "false" Christian is laughable.......that's between them and God. I'll let God handle all that. My business is what's between God and me. -
Me- So let me ask you, honestly, do you love your daughter? Because you sound more like a person eagerly awaiting the day a burden is lifted from their shoulders than a father who wants to do the minimum required to help his daughter. Wow, he sounds like a great guy. I'm sure the kids eagerly await the 2 weeks / year they can spend with a kind dude like that. For Christmas, I think a good gift for him would be a fancy leather "bomber"-type jacket with "Captain Dildo" stitched on the back.

I'm not sure of the state of public health in the Dakotas, but here in my neck of the woods there has been a pretty nasty stomach bug going around. The symptoms are suspiciously close to what you're describing......but like Jack said, you probably need to see a doc. Better safe than sorry, and 4 weeks post op is still a pretty crucial time for healing up your band.

You know what snorkel? You hit a little speedbump. The refreshing thing reading your post is when you wrote this: "No excuse, so I'm cleaning up my act!" I read so many posts where people are looking for excuses for doing what they do. It's nice to see that you hit a bit of a bump (like we all do, BTW), but recognized it for what it was, and are now determined to let it go. Good for you. I think you have a great attitude and will meet all your goal. Keep at it, snorkel. It ain't easy, but it is worth it. You can do it.

Question about amount of food
plain replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey win. Congrats on the 14 lb loss....keep it up. As for the amount of food everybody eats, that's a complicated subject. Your clinic may have given you some guidelines, but everybody is a little different. The thing to keep in mind is that you will be able to eat a little more until you start getting the fills. Now is the time to follow your docs rules and to start to develop good habits.....so step away from the cornbread, LOL. Also, as fatties, many of us have gotten the feeling of "full" mixed up with the feeling of "stuffed". You should eat until you are not hungry. Not hungry is very different from stuffed, and it takes a lot less of a portion. I would advise you to eat very small portions very slowly (while following your docs plans....not quite 2 weeks post band, my doc still had me on thicker liquids, but every doc is different). It's quite an adjustment, getting used to our new life....it takes time, but you'll get it eventually, if you are committed to using this great tool. Good luck! -
Hey Hal. Welcome to lapbandtalk. You never really know about insurance companies, as they are run by evil bastards, LOL. Seriously, I have my fingers crossed for ya. Good luck!
-
Hi Debbie. Welcome to lapbandtalk......glad to have ya! Just let your fingers do the walking...there's a lot of information to wade through, and a lot of cool people to meet (um, I'm not one of the "cool kids", unfortunately, LOL). If you are specifically looking to chat with people from your area or close to your own age, there's a section for that too. Good luck!
-
Hey Suz, welcome to lapbandtalk. A lot of us had to do the 6 month supervised diet. It sucks, but what can ya do, eh? Hang in there. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your insurance to approve. Good luck!

Ventura County anyone? Dr. Billy?
plain replied to derbin247's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kelly. You might have a little better luck in finding somebody near if you look under the "local lapband support group" section. It's broken down by state, and then smaller groups under each state. Good luck with the authorization.....that's the worst!! -
Why do women have anal sex?
plain replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That'd be easy....just look for the dudes with the sore butts. I was kinda joking about the "gay" comment, but kinda not.
