    My first thread

Hi Erica, welcome to lapbandtalk! There is a lot of information on here to sift through, as well as a lot of interesting / supportive people to chat with. Good luck on your journey!
  2. Jennifer, it's hard to say because different docs have different policies. Just call the office and ask what the total number of allowable carbs / day is.
  3. Hi Linda.....forgive the stupid question, but is it possible that a different person made the coffee at work? Here in my hospital, I know exactly when a certain nurse makes the coffee because it's much stronger than what everybody else makes. Other than that, I don't have much of a theory, lol.

    post -op diet ?

Different docs have different policies and procedures. It's probably best to strictly adhere to your doc's orders. Good luck!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

It's like a murder mystery mini-series. Who's the serial killer? Well to paraphrase Anchorman, "That escalated quickly" Of course you should. There's a lot of us on there. Some people, though, don't want any mention of a lapband. I'm an open book, however. Come on, tap, give in to peer pressure! Sorry! Re-friend me!
  6. Seeing as how Nimits made just the one post, logged off, and has not even been on the board again, I'm going to go ahead and say this is probably a troll post. At the very least, it doesn't appear the desperation level was high enough for Mimits to read the responses.

    Reallyneed encouragement/to vent

First off, in the interest of full disclosure, let me state that I myself can sometimes be a bit of an ass. Having said that, I would look that asshat right in the eye and tell him to fix me, or I would show up at every lapband seminar he holds and very publicly ask the hard questions (such as - "What are the statistics on prolapse? You know, like what happened when you placed my band"). Furthermore, I would threaten to go to the local newspaper and tell my tale of woe, complete with names and costs. But....like I said, I can be an ass.

PJTP: Anybody watch Harper's Island? Nobody in my inner circle watches. I need to discuss!!
  10. You ladies are cracking me up with all the talk of the "sneak attack".

Gotcha. Thanks for the fill-in. I'm always tempted to ask who people are in your pics, but usually restrain myself. I do occasionally exercise self-restraint...

    Adult tonsillectomy

I had mine out when I was 18. I would rather have 30 more lapband surgeries than to have the T&A's out again!!

    Domino's Bread Bowl

Well, it may not be healthy, or even palatable, but does that mean it should be made illegal? Or even have a special tax levied against it? I don't think it's the government's business to decide what its citizens may or may not consume....but hey, I'm a libertarian kind of guy.

I just keep picturing that trick where an empty aluminum (sp?) can is able to hold the weight of a person standing on top of it until it's gently tapped.......then *crunch*. I don't want my bike to be the can when I'm riding down the street.

    Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!

Is that the opposite of "mudder"?

Off topic. . Can we talk about Kirstie Alley?

You know, I get to look at people's weight / height every night as part of my job, and I can "guesstimate" pretty good (I daresay I could work the "guess your weight" booth at carnivals). There's no way 230 was the highest. She was probably 215 when she wore the bikini on the show. Granted....I didn't see her in real life, and TV is supposed to add pounds, but that's my opinion. And as cruel as it sounds, let's be honest......she's not fooling anybody. I can understand the humiliation of disclosing one's weight in public, but if she gives an artificially low number, she can't change how she looks. I can tell people all day long that I weigh 150, but I think they'd be more likely to believe their eyes.

    What pain is normal

Sounds like you're right on schedule as far as healing goes. Laproscopic surgery is minimally invasive.....but it's still invasive, so a little pain / discomfort is to be expected for awhile. Sounds like you're doing great!
  22. Yeah, you should up on Kimkins...it's a total sham. Basically a starvation diet.
  23. Hey josie, I just read in one of your threads that you have 2 newfs. I thought I was the ONLY Texan w/ a newfoundland (he's a big boy.....around 190 lbs), lol.

    Support Saturday Sacramento!

Hey rosey, you might want to post this in the "local support" section! I think it might get more views there.
