Then that means......Happy ending for everybody!! Yee-Haw!! I'm glad everything came out for the better!

I'm not exactly denying that. *puts pinky finger to mouth in an attempt to look coy* Oh yeah! It's ALL about the FB pics lu. That way, it's like we're ALL going w/ you. Power-undies. I like that concept. I may develop a male line of "power undies" with a built-in padded crotch. Hi there, stranger!

That's funny that you see self hate because she disagrees with Obama's politics. I don't really get that. If SS, welfare, and Medicaid worked really well, why didn't it lift more people out of poverty? No doubt that it has helped some people, but I don't know if the results have justified the staggering costs of these programs. Not really surprising, though. That's the biggest problem I have with republicans. For the last 8 years, the party that is supposed to be in favor of less government threw that ideology out the window and grew the government's influence. It's the same with people. Some will say that they don't want government in their lives, but they'll be bought off by a government check. Except for the government running private industry, the government poised to stuff nationalized health care down our throats, and the government dictating what foods you eat and what cars you drive (via increased "selective" taxes), no......you haven't lost any more freedoms. Oh, I almost forgot how the government recently weakened the legal concept of the "contract". Or if your 401K was tied into Chrysler, like many in Iowa, the Obama government just made your investments woth pennies on the dollar by insisting that the unions be given priority-debtor status. But hey, He's still not Bush, right? Oops...not anymore. President Obama gets that new honor. That's cool, Cleo's Mom. And if you go back and read Anne Wortham's essay, you're both on the same side. She's saying that many black voters apparently voted for Obama (94%, according to her.....IDK where she got her figures) for no better reason than color. And you both seem to agree that's not the best litmus test to elect a president.

I will cede you that, KartMan, because you make your points logically and validly. However, let me say this about my response (or more specifically, what I meant to say, versus how it came out): I didn't dare anybody to prove that rape was in the Bible, just that it was "pleasing to God" (or however Lydia phrased it). The Bible has some horrible events recorded in it, no doubt. But to equate a bad event with the author who wanted it recorded is a little fallacious. Lydia, I had to google these verses to refresh my memory. What I found surprised me a little. These verses don't support your claim one bit. The Judges verse is pretty clear in saying that God didn't come up with that plan....the men did. In fact, it goes out of the way to mention that Israel didn't have a unified leadership (implying that there was nobody to lead them morally.....this further implies that what was previously described was immoral and against the will of God) The Deuteronomy stuff was the book of OT laws. Your "favorite" verse is clearly meant as a protection of women (now, we both know that women had almost no value to society back then. Things are different now, but back then women were pretty much possessions. Women really only had one asset back then....the ability to bear children. They only way a woman could really survive was to be married, and a man wouldn't marry a non-virgin, even if she was not a virgin because of a rape). It still doesn't show that God applaunds the act of rape, which is what you are determined to prove. Heavy sigh....this is disingenuous, at best. You have to look at how the culture was back then, not compare it to today. Do you for one minute think that, say, the ancient Nords treated their women any better? back then, villiages and tribes were linked by bloodline. If you didn't want to marry your cousin, a marriage had to be bartered (often without the consent of the bride....which I suspect you know full well) or young men had to raid other villiages to get a bride. Don't get off track with how atrocious rape is. Nobody here disputes that. Your original arguement was that God condones the act. He does not. It has been a rather spirited debate, hasn't it? lol

Am I on the right track?
plain replied to wsugirl2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there wsu girl. Sounds like you're doing fine to me. We're all different, and we all lose at different rates. Just keep following your doc's orders . -
Hi strawberry. You'll probably get more responses if you ask this question in the "sleeve" category (it's towards the bottom on the main page).

When does the "lose 10%" come into play?
plain replied to I'MREADY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Deb....do you know for sure your surgeon requires you to lose 10%? Because all docs are different. My doc didn't have a hard and fast 10% rule....but I had to do a 10 day pre-op diet. If you know for sure you'll have to lose 10%, then why not start right now? Today's a great day to get the ball rolling!! You can do it! -
New to the Group and filled to the brim

Jules, are you still closely following all the rules? If you are and are still PB'ing, then I think you're probably too tight. -
That's fantastic that things are all sorted out now, but respectfully......when you ask for advice, you're going to get advice, whether it's what you want to hear or not.

That's quite an assumption. Now, killing aside (and it was common to slaughter all the enemies back then to discourage insurgency), the girls were to be used as brides (thus the virgin stipulation) See above. BTW, romantic love wasn't considered an important part of marriage until the Victorian era Most Christians believe this references the final judgement, whereas Moses will be the "prosecutor" and Jesus Christ "the public defender" Personally, I think this language is symbolic. This was probably the worst thing (and probably very common at the time) that one ruler could do to his enemies. It's kind of the "I'll rip off your head and sh*t down your neck" of the Biblical times.

Wimp, lol Seriously, want me to numb that for you? *num num num num* Ok, it's kind of an old, visual joke, but I couldn't resist.

I think Headhunter made a good point. It's almost unimportant (.....almost....) if he's cheating, or flirting inappropriately. The real issue is that it's making S'sM uncomfortable. What may tell the tale is how he reacts from here on out. He should cease all communication ASAP now that she's made it known that she doesn't like it. If it keeps on....that's may very well be a dealbreaker.

Hells yeah! Bust out the shiv!! Too late. I'll be thinking of it all night. And I mean that every bit as creepy as it sounds.....Bwahahahahahaha
-
Oh you've read the Bible? Then you can't be surprised when I questioned when you said: Because, unless we're reading different Bibles, I can't for the life of me remember the passage indicating rape is a-ok. Perhaps you can un-sugarcoat my memory?
-
Oh, right. Maybe I should read the Bible......heh.....

Congrats, Mac. What's a MOP finish?

Kartman, I get that you didn't care for President Bush, but to imply that perceived faults were due to his religion is a bit disingenuous, IMO. For most of its basic tenets, Christianity is Christianity. Obama, as much as some hate to admit it, is a self-proclaimed Christian, and probably prays every bit as much as Bush does. I tend to agree with you, though, that I don't want the government sticking its nose into my religion. As long as a group isn't breaking any existing laws or infringing on the rights of others, then they should be left alone to worship as they please.....and the government should not pass any more new laws to favor one religion over another
-
Sure, I see your point. My point was that America was extremely influenced by Christianity from the very start (for better or for worse, depending on your view). The seperation of Church and State thing is often looked at very wrongly.

Why do women have anal sex?
plain replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hopefully, barring an extended stay in state prison, I'll never be in that position to know!!:grouphug: -
Not so depressing! Sounds like a good and feasable plan. Great. They clearly want you out @ your current job. They're jealous of Ebony's blatant sexiness. And how could they not be? Have you seen her fb pics? Wear your lowest cut blouse. Couldn't hurt. Hells Yeah!!We all got trumped! How come there are no naked people on the beach?!?
-
Well, I hate to hear that. Death sucks.

Well, actually Cleo's mom responded in a sarcastic rant against Texas governer Rick Perry. I'm not sure how that got introduced into the debate. I'm certainly not a fan of Perry, but as a Texan, I'm proud that we don't spend what we don't have (one of a few states that actually have a budget that works. BTW, we don't have a state income tax). Tell that to the "witches" of Salem. Lydiafree, the Bible doesn't say that.

Wow.....0730 to 2100?!? I didn't know Stalin still held conferences! I hope they scheduled ample bathroom breaks or are providing free Foley caths. Give 'em hell, tap!!
