    I don't care: A Michael Jackson Rant

Perhaps. 22 Million is a lot of money. I can't even wrap my mind around the psychology of essentially dropping a rape case for money.....but then again, I can't wrap my mind around letting my young child spend unsupervised nights alone with such a weird grown man.....so maybe you're right.

Hi Robin, it's great to have you on board. It sounds to me like you are all set on a fresh start, so good luck. You can do it!!

Clearly, Fanny is enjoying listening to some classical music (probably Mozart). PJTP: I just happened to see my first episode of "The Duggars" (The actual name of the show is "18 and counting") while hooking up a patient tonight. They seemed strangely normal. While it is alien to me to have that many children, they seem to manage quite nicely. I must admit that I misjudged them.

Well....to be delicate, what else can the guy really say? There were other witnesses that stated MJ behaved inappropriately with the boy (not saying that inappropriate = molestation, exactly, but ya know....).

I read a blog where they estimated around 4 million (shutting the streets down, incresed police presence, etc). Gotta love Cali. Hells yeah!! The may be a lot wrong with our state, Rho, but at least we can legally carry handguns! Yee-Haw!! *dances a little jig and shoots pistols into the air*

    Stop Calling it Socialized Medicine!

Ok, I can see your point (though I don't agree) on this. However, by that set of criteria, there will still be people not covered. Many politicians are saying this new overhaul should cover EVERYbody. But single payer will be funded largely from taxes. In other words, employers will be paying for two premiums on people. When this inevitably starts to cut in on profits (especially with small business), employers will opt to drop their costly (in your example, paying 80% of the premium) private insurance. As more and more employers follow this model, private insurances will have to raise premium prices to stay solvent. As premiums rise, more businesses will be unable to offer private insurance and people will be driven to the government plan. This is what I was referring to earlier. Even with a tiered premium payment system, there will eventually be people that will be recieving medical care for free. Even if "streamlining" the system saves the amount of money that President Obama says it will (personally, I think that idea is folly), the costs will be overwhelming. And we're not even taking into account the sheer number of people that will flood the system until we secure the border. Totally agree. Intelligent discussion, without insane political propaganda and name calling is refreshing.

    The Governor of South Carolina.

It's not against the law.....but you certainly could argue about the issue of compromise. And infidelity always goes towards the issue of decision-making. Marriage is one of our oldest and most basic contracts. IMO, if a politician is willing to break that contract, then why should I believe that politician will keep the contract he/ she makes with the electorate? It's like your example of small theft / corporate theft. Or maybe America would be much better shape and be a stronger nation if people simply kept their vows. Glass half empty, glass half full. I don't get what you're saying here. Please elaborate.

Kind of off topic, but very funny: I just saw Conan O'Brian, and he did a great bit called "Sanford or Steele". He quoted stuff, and Andy had to guess if Mark Sanford said it, or Danielle Steele. It made me LOL.

I guess Rush's comment turned out to be true, lol. Now if this Argentinian women "overdoses", Sanford really will be the repub's JFK. Man, I was thinking the same thing when I heard his press conference. What a narcissist!! Uh, BJean....you tend to lump republicans and conservatives together all the time. Me too. Sometimes I wonder if the job taints the person, or if the turds are attracted to the job....I suspect both. The only reason I call you out on stuff is because you're capable of more, BJean. I tend to let Cleo's Mom go because she tends to just rant. Hey, it's her opinion......but some people are so far indoctrinated that I don't even bother with arguing. Well, I see your point.....but I disagree. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I expect public servants to be held to basic standards. If you want to sleep with some chick from Argentina, then divorce your damn wife!! Not just wrong, but illegal!! Oh...well then, I take back when I agreed with you! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to take my "money bath" before I go downtown and spit on the homeless. Why the hell is this dude even sharing these details with us? Resign and move on with your life, man. Yeah, I guess that's the jist of what I was trying to say when I posted that fidelity DOES matter to me. I agree. That's why I thought the Clinton affair was such a big deal. Clinton should have just "manned up", admitted what he did, and took his medicine. Sanford should do the same thing (without going into all the freaking details!! "I would play Barry White...then I'd order two Vodka martinis, followed by a sensual massage")
  13. I think I''ve been late for work one time. There was an electrical storm and my alarm clock was knocked out. This was before I had a cell phone (I use it as my alarm clock now....no probs) and taught me the wisdom of having a battery back-up for the clock.

    America's decline of morality

    N. Korea is simply doing what they've always done....making a rather weak threat so the US will send them food. As long as I can remember, our presidents have caved and sent the supplies (I haven't looked this up, I'm just going from memory....but this is very google-able if anyone cares to find the exact dates) from the time of Bush the Elder, Clinton, Dubya, and I expect President Obama to cave as well. My theory is that N. Korea represents such a minor "real world" threat that it's easier to just give them some food and shut them up. In theory, that could certainly happen. In reality, China pulls the strings of N. Korea. China has waaaaaay too much money invested in America to let their pissboy pick a fight with us like that. By far the bigger threat to world peace is the middle east. Full disclosure, I'm strongly pro-Isreal (there's the tie-in to this religious thread, I guess). I think they'll bomb Iran before they let Iran become nuclear-capable. Then all hell will probably break loose

"No He [Obama] Can't" by Anne Wortham

Yes. That's EXACTLY what I was trying to say. If only them damn elderly would do something productive. No. My point is, why penalize them when many would like to supplement their income (and stay active in the process)? The current system only allows them to make an insanely low amount of money before their SS check is diminished. My bigger point is, this is only one goofball flaw in SS. It's like they need to put a suggestion box on the wall. If a private business were run like this, they'd be bankrupt f-a-s-t. Because it's government run, the circus rolls on with only minimal improvement. No, that's the polar opposite of what I'm saying. Why not just send the damn money based on the number of applications (I know it's a little more complicated than that with transfer students, growing student body, etc...but you see my point)? I find stuff like that highly inefficient. In fact, I think (this is just my opinion, btw) that a great many flaws would be easy to fix, but the few in a position to fix things either: 1) don't give a crap, because they're getting paid no matter how great or dismal the program is run or 2) might like to fix things, but the tremendous effort required to make changes in such a bureaucratic climate is not worth the effort.
  24. Hey, Are you steppin' out on me, monkey?!? The nerve!! OK, HH, You already corrected hone on her opinion once....so lay off the personal attacks, ok? There's no need to escalate the situation right now.
