The only reason I ask is because the NEXT George Bush's (metaphorically) administration will be in charge of this mess after Obama's term. I hope you have as much faith in every president after Obama, because you will be giving them a huge chunk of power. Shocking? The truth is, Obama's proposed savings under this plan would come from more people using preventative care. So yeah, be skeptical.....be incredulous......I felt the same way. Well, partially, it's a numbers game.....the US has so many more births than other nations on "the list" that y'all love to tout. Also, it's because a disproportionally large amount of the population don't use preventative care. Oh, and BTW....a lot of those folks that dont use preventative care already have access to healthcare via Medicare / Medicaid. Well, here's your list of efficient, well-run government programs: Shall I take on these one-by-one, or can we just have a chuckle now?

She was. She got sent to the principal's office.

Who are y'all to judge me? I'm taking my inflatable sheep and my glass coffee table and I'm going home! Isn't that how you passed your boards so far, though? Look, you make it sound like I'm the only one that has a Verne Troyer sex doll and an "Oprah"-brand ball gag! Dammit, who DOESN"T have this stuff, am I right ladies? I actually smell like Old books, Chloroform, and Desperation. But.....but....that's how I look naked. Haven't you seen my facebook shower pic? Yep. One for each testicle. Say it slower! I'm almost there! Really? The worst conversation I've ever read was a technical question of a scatalogical nature. Uh, it was for a friend of mine. And "goldfish" is really a codeword, right? Hey, me too. Oops, sorry....I thought you said "scallions". Look, just because I had an "experimantal" summer camp experience doesn't mean I'm gay. I'm not. Neither is my boyfriend.
-
Yet, interestingly enough, the most at-risk population for these births is covered by medicaid, and yet "well-baby" programs are largely underutilized. More government intrusion wont change that.....at some point the individual has to take some responsibility. Did George Bush want this, in your opinion? BJean, I still don't see that the government does a lot of things "right'. The best argument you can make there is the military......and you can't really run healthcare like the military or we'll just get one huge VA system.

Cool! I managed a lot of vent pts that went into ARDS due to sepsis and helped write my hospital's Protocol on ARDS ventilation (included the infamous "Prone Ventilation). However, I haven't so much as browsed any new info for about 8 years...... Love the newf. Obey the newf. The knock is still "Shave and a haircut.....two bits" right? You kidding? I'm an expert on everything! Just ask my mom. Very little, I hope *waggles eyebrows up and down* When I first graduated respiratory school, My first "real hospital" job was at a very small (about 30 beds) hospital, and I had to do EKGs in the ER. Long story short, I have seen many, many things stuck under folds and boobs. Look, just because I pleasure myself while dressed like you doesn't make me a sicko. Good day to you Ma'am! YOU were the one that led me on, tease!

I'm assuming you're using "love" instead of another verb? Hey, you just described my Friday nights. ta-DA! How dare you asses start this without telling me. You are all dead to me. Now I'm off to "pull a Carradine", if ya know whut I mean.

Maybe they are, maybe they're not. I don't just ASSUME one way or the other, like you and the dems. I think it just might be possible that people don't like the plan. Most of the democrats now are so pseudo-intellectually elitist that they ASSUME the public must be confused......for if they truly understood, they'd be behind the bill 1000%. No. Because there are several "versions" being bandied about in various sub-committees, NObody can say, with any authority, that they are completely aware of the plan. That's true. Some republicans are playing party politics. I hate it just as much when the repubs put party above country as when the dems do it. But at the same time....don't pretend that some dems weren't vehemently against anything that the Republicans and Bush were for. Wow, a very strong statement against the republicans. Way to attack the opposition instead of promoting your own ideas.....wait, isn't that what you just damned the republicans for doing? Well, you got me there. During our secret weekly meetings (when we get together and talk about how to convert LBT'ers to our way of thinking), we are just so fit to be tied!! We are enraged that there are people at LBT who support the idea of a modified and upgraded healthcare system! We will double and triple our fundraising efforts and protestations until we convert all of LBT! Bwa-ha-ha-ha.......By the way, we structured our secret cabal on the "secret group" that REALLY ran the government during the Bush years. I suspect nature would have just as good of a chance of explaining how Obama's plan will work without bankrupting America as any democrat would. Maybe I should give the kite a chance. Sorry Beth. They have the votes to pass it now (assuming the blue dog dems play ball). The only reason President Obama is still pushing for bipartisan support is so he'll have some cover when all hell breaks loose. He's already said that if a consensus can't be reached by september, he'll push for a vote (regardless of what the public wants).

That made me LOL. And all my facebook friends know the picture that will be used for the poster. "Sexy man, sexy man" (said in "Fat Bastard" voice from Austin Powers) Is that medically possible? Aha! Vindication for those of you that thought I was making it up! And BG, it sho is good! Here's a link to the good stuff: .::The Original Firefly ::.

Ah see, that's my point. You (and dems in general) seem to think that Americans must be confused, just because we aren't buying into President Obama's plan wholeheartedly. Did you (or the dems) ever consider that Americans may be against the plan because they see it isn't a good idea? This is why the dems are so befuddled right now....they can't possibly understand how Americans can't be on board, so they attribute it to confusion, or to misinformation, or to a right-wing conspiracy.

Thanks, Slim. For those sweet words, you'll be the last on my list if I ever flip out and go on a multi-state shooting spree!! Calm down, I'm just kidding.....nobody gets off the list.

D, imaginary friends don't count.

First of all, go by what your doc says, no matter what. Having said that, my doc told me I could do cardio stuff like that as soon as my body tolerated it. He did not want me to strength train for 6 weeks, though.

Please tone down the attack language or I'll have to close this thread. I'm sure you both know the drill: Attack the idea, not the person, or take it to PM. -
You mean True Blood is about sexy bananas?!?

Yo mama is so fat she beeps when she backs up.

Why do you keep insisting that Americans are confused? Did The Huffington Post say that or something? Nope. The current version of the reform bill is, though. Oh yes, I'm sure President Bush has fond memories of the respectful way the demonstrators made their point. And RE: rabble rousing folks, you might want to remember how liberal college students shouted down every conservative speaker that was invited to speak. And maybe you want to remember how that fine, fine "Code Pink" organization conducts itself with subtly and dignity. In fact, I believe we had a discussion on here, back when the shouters were liberal and the speakers were conservatives. Maybe I'll go looking and re-post....that should be interesting. How do YOU know these protests aren't genuine? Because the democrats say so?

?Birthers? ? Patriots or Racists?
plain replied to KartMan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess I can literally not say this enough, but I'm not a republican. I'm a registered independant. Unlike you, who tows the party line, every time.....most times verbatim. Well, here is where we differ. I don't care about being right. If it "all goes into the can", there will be very little satisfaction in saying "I told you so". Apparently, I had the reigns for 8 years? Why wasn't I notified of this? Dammit. Well, not so much reign as "bridle & bit", but I digress.... -

I've been watching "More to Love" lately....does that count? -
Oh....I suspect we could all be VIP members in the "self-sabotage" club, or we wouldn't be needing the band in the first place. The simple answer, which HH answered, is that the band only helps with physiological hunger, not the urge to eat. There's a huge difference between the two. However, some people aren't told / advised of this pre-surgery. And for some of us, the learning curve is a little more steep.

*cue balloon drop & confetti cannon* PJTP: The reason I get so behind is because I only access LBT when I'm at work (kids demand a lot of time, and LBT is a sloooooooooow loader with my wireless internet. Yeah, I live in the middle of nowhere). Lately, the economic downturn has kicked my ass (ie, few patients scheduled for the sleep lab, so the boss asked my to take some vacation days), and I haven't been at work. That's why I had to slog through, like 45 pages of PJTP......

Firefly: 1 part Firefly (sweet tea flavored vodka) Smidge of water - to taste little bit of lemon juice. It will sneak up on ya if you're not careful....I'll make Firelies for all for the "meet -n-greet" (or the....wait for it..."meat -n- greet"). Except everybody else's might have the faint aftertaste of roofies. Hey, YOU were the drunk poster.....I can't be held responsible. Yes we are. Or I am, anyway (see above comment RE: roofie aftertaste) At my house, that's known as "foreplay"

Ok, for my non-FB friends, this last weekend I saw the new Harry Potter movie. If you've never read any of the books, or do not care much for the intricacies of the plot, it's a pretty good film. However, it's the hands-down worst screenplay adaption of a book that I've ever seen. I won't go much into it here because I don't want to provide spoilers for the book OR the movie.....suffice it to say that the movie just made Snape look like an evil bastard and Harry look like a coward. The filmmakers left out things that are essential to the overarching HP plot. Again, I don't want to put out spoilers, so I'll just say: In the book, the biggest theme is the power of love to overcome evil and to spark redemption. It appears again and again in big ways and small. Very little of the "The Half-Blood Prince" book is seen in the movie. Frankly, It makes me very worried for the final two movies.
